The Proud Trust: new trans toolkit for schools despite warnings from Cass

Transgender Trend have exposed another attempt to wedge trans issues into schools - this time by the "Proud Trust" via a "Trans Inclusion School Toolkit. TT analyse the tactics used in the proposed policy to completely erase all boundaries between the sexes

They ask why, especially in light of Cass's warning about schools stepping outside their professional role / expertise & socially transitioning children, the Proud Trust are producing this now?

Brief extract:
"In practical terms the inversion of reality means that a school is unable to distinguish between boys and girls in language or in policy, such as provision of toilets, changing-rooms and sports. A school must ensure the erasure of all boundaries between the sexes.
Everyone in the school, teachers and children alike, must act on this belief and speak its language. Failure to do so is punishable".

The Proud Trust trans inclusion schools toolkit - Transgender Trend

Why has the Proud Trust suddenly produced a draft trans inclusion schools toolkit? Why now? The previous government’s draft Gender Questioning Children schools guidance was published for consultation last year, and the final version is due to be publis...

Fuckssake. The aggrogant grift continues.

Labour need to get their act together on the schools guidelines.

I honestly think most teachers have assumed it's all shelved

That's reassuring if teachers are assuming this has been shelved - hence the rhetoric about anti trans I suppose.

If I recall correctly, the Proud Trust get lots of funding from public bodies (aren't they involved with the BeeWell grift?) and it seems that (like so many organisations) are being run by self interested transactivists rather than those centred in safeguarding, education, child psychology & child development.

Political activists shouldn't be allowed to access schools like this - under the cover of dangerous "guidance"

I don't follow how it's reassuring? (That may be me misunderstanding!)

It concerns me as I think schools now think they don't need to worry about the trans schools guidance. My safeguarding update didn't include Cass at all or any mention of it, though it doesn't 'technically' affect us. However I feel it does as any teacher is vulnerable to being targeted by trans activism.

By proxy, any company/ charity working for schools also think it's shelved and so they are carrying on as before.

And slt won't think twice about using the proud trust.

This is terrible:

In place of the Cass Review’s eight systematic reviews of evidencece, new research, review of international guidelines, and regular consultations with stakeholder groups including young service users and clinical professionals over a period of four years, the Proud Trust trans inclusion toolkit is informed by two surveys. We have written about the problems with one of them, the #BeeWell survey herere.
The other is from the Manchester Metropolitan Universityty_. The survey was promoted on social media and via The Proud Trust’s ‘professionals contacts’, along with ‘young people and supporting staff attending The Proud Trust LGBT+ Youth Summit event in Manchester.’^

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/12/2024 11:03

for most people, a ‘matching’ gender is also assigned eg. if a penis is observed by the health professional on a newborn or prenatal scan, they will inform the pregnant person that the baby is a boy.’

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/12/2024 11:06

Sorry @WarriorN . I misunderstood you.

Jeez...

WarriorN · 10/12/2024 11:09

It's absolutely horrific and completely at odds with Cass.

Also, many schools are now fostering close relationships with local universities.

If they're a part of a trust, individuals from the university will be part of the governing board.

Senior leaders sometimes have relationships with academics at local universities via school pgce training programmes, especially those that are more "in house." And they may also be visiting lecturers.

It's easy to see how this gets into schools via universities.

Jeez...

Particularly chilling.

Erase gender stereotyping by all means.

Not boundaries ffs

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/12/2024 11:10

As ever "the language used serves to obscure the age group, using the terms young person/people 276 times and trans young person/people 103 times.
By comparison, child/children appears 76 times, including only 5 mentions of trans child/children".

Every transactivist tactic used to obscure the fact that they're attempting to gaslight children. Unwary adults will of course be completely oblivious to the technique with all our safeguarding authorities having been muzzled over the years to ignore the threat this poses to children.

These bodies are being government funded to produce guidance that goes against Cass. About time Wes Streeting had a word with whichever idiot department is funding this.

WarriorN · 10/12/2024 14:27

Good point. Time to turn the tap off and dam the grift.

Helleofabore · 10/12/2024 17:45

It is really concerning just how far groups such as the Proud Trust reach into our schools.

It is. Schools have been a considerable source of income for numerous groups when the last government removed so much DfE sanctioned guidance. Schools struggled in certain areas, certain inappropriate groups promptly self identified as "experts", the DfE threw money at them with a complete lack of due diligence and we ended up with organisations like this with the budget and misplaced confidence to "advise schools" about an ideology that causes great harm to the young.

Yep. Funds, prestige and power to influence . A very attractive combo.

DungareesAndTrombones · 11/12/2024 19:35

Oh fantastic they are heavily involved in the NHS trust I work in, and a couple of members of my team absolutely love signposting kids and teachers alike to them.

OytheBumbler · 16/12/2024 00:50

The problem is if you have a child struggling with gender dysmorphia where do you point them to for advice?

My school have been heavily involved in the Proud Trust because they are there! Offering assemblies, staff training, pupil mentoring fgs!

There seems to be lots of support, and reading, for parents of trans-identifying children, but very little support for the kids themselves.

OytheBumbler · 16/12/2024 00:54

Dysmorphia? I don't know where that came from! Dysphoria that should be.

SwishMyCape · 17/12/2024 15:51

It's ending. Proud Trust are shedding staff. Donors are waking up to what an almighty mess these organisations are.

The sooner these organisations stop telling vulnerable children that the world hates them the better.

NOT to your school's edcuational psychologist.

They are totally captured by GI, their union was critical of the school guidance and supports social transition and 'listening' to the child. They think it is discriminatory to consider autism or other contextual factors.
They promote inclusion of the trans children in line with their identity and will advise schools on this.

We need Labour to make their position on schools clear as at the moment it remains a free for all. Cass has not changed school or psychology practice.
