What are your views? Compared to, say, Mermaids? It’s being considered at work and I’m not sure if I should raise concerns but I’ve had a look at their resources and some made me quite uneasy - the dice game in particular.

Absolute dangers.

Olderbadger1 · 06/07/2022 20:18

They are seriously problematic. Review of their resources (and others) on Safe Schools Alliance: safeschoolsallianceuk.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Parents-Guide-to-external-PSHE-RSE-providers.pdf

Rightsraptor · 06/07/2022 20:24

You don't say where you work OP, but I imagine in education?

The 'dice game' doesn't make me uneasy. It puts me absolutely in a boiling rage that anyone can think that is suitable for kids of 13. Its natural market is adult sex parties.

Do not let the Proud Trust anywhere near any kids.

GiantCheeseMonster · 06/07/2022 20:39

Thanks all. You’ve confirmed my thoughts. Looking at their website, it’s frightening which organisations fund them.

Didn’t they ‘create’ that dangerous dice game ? The one with body parts aimed at 11 + year olds. Roll two dice and discuss sexual activities with those combined body parts with your class mates and teacher.

Fenlandia · 06/07/2022 20:51

They are also responsible for the Planet Boy/Planet Girl mad stereotyping nonsense (eg www.theproudtrust.org/wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files/PRINT-Exploring%20Gender.pdf

www.theproudtrust.org/schools-and-training/primary-resources/alien-nation-book-and-resources/).

I wouldn't want kids near anything that says there are 'girly' and 'boyish' things. It's not the 1950s any more.

Helleofabore · 06/07/2022 20:52

And I call the dice game dangerous because of the age groups involved and the discussion nature of it.

lakeswimmer · 06/07/2022 20:53

I can't think of any situation where it would be appropriate for an adult in a position of influence (teacher/youth worker etc) to use the dice game with a group of children. Safeguarding red flag.

Didn’t those “sex dice” use to be sold from dodgy catalogues and sex shops…? Not remotely suitable for sex education in schools!

SeasideRock · 28/07/2022 09:18

I’m just going to offer up another view here, as a school leader with GC views. I met with them at a professional conference recently and managed to have quite a sensible and thoughtful conversation around trans issues in schools with their representative. Maybe they have listened and taken on board concerns that have been raised recently?
Just wanted to add this for balance (and worth mentioning that we did NOT commission them for RSE at school)

Didn’t Ann Summers or some such invent that. For adults. 🤢

Thingybob · 28/07/2022 10:15

Also big on pushing the Rainbow Flag Award to schools. This involves plastering the school in rainbows, 'secret' LGBT clubs where no record is kept of attendees and transing children without their parents knowledge.

KittenKong · 28/07/2022 10:21

If only they’d spend as much effort in educating kids… or teaching them useful life skills.

achillestoes · 28/07/2022 10:34

@SeasideRock

How did they explain designing a game for children in which children are asked to discuss which objects they might insert into their or someone else’s anus?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 28/07/2022 10:58

Any adult (in or out of a school) playing that dice game with a 13 year old is likely to be committing an offence the Sexual Offences Act 2003, probably Section 10: Causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity; or Section 12: Causing a child to watch a sexual act

The fact that the misnamed "Proud Trust" has never withdrawn or apologised for their promotion of such a misogynist, porn soaked "game" aimed at children tells us everything we need to know about their lack of commitment to safeguarding children. They should be nowhere near schools.

SeasideRock · 28/07/2022 12:40

@achillestoes to be fair, I wasn’t aware of that game, so didn’t question them about it. Nor would I be happy with material like that being used in our school. I’m concerned about organizations such as Proud Trust effectively being sub-contracted to provide RSE in schools, precisely because it removes oversight of the curriculum offered in far too many cases.
But, and I am trying to be fair here, they were very receptive to my concerns around the convergence of ASC and rapid-onset gender dysphoria in groups of young girls and women. I was surprised.
