What does Taylor Swift represent that makes men hate her enough to want to kill her fans?

Z0rr0 · 24/08/2024 17:40

The girls attending the dance class, the fans in Vienna, the girl in London coming from Australia.
Is it because they feel shut out of something joyful for women and girls? They can't stand to see women having a great time, being a happy community without the need for men?
Is it because she tells relatable stories about her relationships with men? Her incredible success? Because she can't be controlled and all that might rub off on young girls and make them believe they can be more on their own?
What is it that certain men can't stand about women being Swifties that makes them violent?
Does it speak to a widespread general misogyny in society?

I think the answer to all those questions is, yes.

Can you imagine any woman actually killing men for enjoying themselves?

It’s terrorism.

Newstarts1 · 24/08/2024 17:46

I don’t know much about men’s opinions of her, but I’d say if a lot of men hate her it’s probably the type of red pill /Tate type men who seem to hate women over 25 who are single, child free and thriving.

And yes it does speak to widespread misogyny and we’re seeing an uptick of a particular brand of it all over in recent years.

I follow a lot of influencers on instagram who are single and or childfree in their 30s and 40s. There’s nearly always several angry comments from men about being “ran through” “a 304” or predicting the women will end up being “cat ladies” and telling them no one will be there for them in old age etc and how empty their lives are.

It almost looks like some coordinated attempt to demoralise women.

suburberphobe · 24/08/2024 17:50

telling them no one will be there for them in old age etc

They're projecting. Cos smart women are fed up of taking care of men who can't get their shit together.

You read about it on here every day.

butterbeansauce · 24/08/2024 17:52

She's an unattainable woman who is both incredibly attractive and extremely successful. She represents all the things that men who hate women hate about women.

Those men think women should just be available to them on their terms. They shouldn't be more successful than them in their careers because it wounds their puny egos. They should be attractive enough to be desirable but not so attractive that they are outside of their league (because they kid themselves that they are super-hot themselves).

She doesn't need them or any other man so she can't be manipulated, made vulnerable or criticised into submission.

She also actually likes other women and raises them up. Another reason many men hate JK Rowling. A certain sort of bitter man stirs up division between women on the divide and rule principle. You can't play that game with Taylor as she genuinely likes other women and encourages and supports them.

She's an extremely impressive woman that doesn't want them. Good for her!

Corinthiana · 24/08/2024 17:53

Anti- female terrorism. Girls and women shouldn't be allowed to relax and have fun together, to be in a female dominated environment. A woman like Taylor Swift shouldn't be able to make millions.
They've had to increase security at her gigs because of threats.

LoremIpsumCici · 24/08/2024 17:53

I don’t think it’s TS. I think it’s just an event that these attackers know will have plenty of female victims to rampage amongst.

If I wanted to kill a bunch of blokes, I’d be going to a gaming convention…

Corinthiana · 24/08/2024 17:54

@butterbeansauce - this, 💯

CocoapuffPuff · 24/08/2024 17:55

Misogyny is on steroids at the moment, so yes, it's women doing things without men that's causing their egos to crumple.

I saw an insta reel by a young woman (evazubeck) that showed how far it goes. She's a world traveller, an adventurer, she's recently done an extreme running race across Mongolia and is amazing. She's bought herself a few acres of land (Poland, corrected cos I was wrong) and will build her own home eventually. The xomments these sad sack men write to her......how she'll always be unmarried and childless (yay, that's what she wants), how ugly she is, how miserable she'll be without a man blah blah blah. She's abused by these couch potatoes for not being afraid. It's nauseating.

That's what they hate. Women not being afraid.

I had to Google 'a 304'. Had no idea. It just said 'stainless steel' to me.

I completely agree. It’s so transparent they are unhappy about their own lives and fearful for the future so they are trying to scare women into settling instead of trying to be better people who can actually attract a nice woman.

And they never have anything to say when people point out that many adults including deadbeat fathers have children and “die alone” anyway. Anyone who works in a nursing home can tell you that.

When I did online dating I remember trying to talk to this guy about what he did for fun except the gym or what he was interested in and he really couldn’t tell me. I’ve seen that with a lot of men, they don’t seem to have any hobbies and it’s tedious to me. One guy even said his hobby was “sleeping” 😐

CocoapuffPuff · 24/08/2024 18:00

Men have got away with being incomplete humans for such a long time.

Newstarts1 · 24/08/2024 18:02

Yeah for some reason that’s how they express that insult online nowadays 😬 always finding new ways of putting down women!

Corinthiana · 24/08/2024 18:02

That's why older women are ridiculed.
These men want to stop younger women getting the wisdom, breaking the matriarchal connection. I hate it on here when posters are so ageist, older women being "frumpy" and dullards., the term "menopausal" is an insult. It's totally out of this playbook..

I think you have to put it into a calculator and read it upside down.
Yes, that's their level.

The idea of women being free, happy, singing and dancing enrages some men

Men can’t cope with it. Also incel mindset.

Honourthyname7 · 24/08/2024 18:07

Taylor represents everything they would like to be (in their fantasies) successful, powerful and wealthy, she also encourages women/girls to be/do better. They don’t like that because our patriarchal society has taught them they need to do the bare minimum to attract women/success. They can’t see that it’s the very outdated traditions perpetuated by men in power that have done them the real harm. That’s why we see so many mediocre men walking around with the ego of an elephant.

BlackShuck3 · 24/08/2024 18:07

Do you really need to ask OP!!

magicmushrooms · 24/08/2024 18:08

Same as Ariana Grande (re Manchester bombings). A strong female role model who is sure of herself, and has the power and success they will never have, so target their fanbase.

Newstarts1 · 24/08/2024 18:11

I have a male relative that I’m no contact with him but I remember when i stayed with him for a year while I did my masters.

There was one occasion he ridiculed me for wearing something bright and insinuated it was “childish”, when I was going off to dinner at a friends house with some other course mates, and having a sleepover he was clearly jealous I’d made friends so quick, and made a snide comment that they’d only invited me along as the “grandma of the group” because I was about 5 years older than most of them.

When I got a merit for my masters he said “is that all ? Not even a distinction?”

I was early 30s and re. his ageism - he was 5 years older than me! 😭

I can see now how it was all thinly veiled misogyny /male jealousy against a woman thriving, so it wasn’t such a shock when another relative told me he was now a Tate follower.

MsNeis · 24/08/2024 18:14

I think it's the joy, yes, exactly as you say OP...

It really is.

These angry incels /red pill podcast gym bro types are really losing it as more and more women refuse to put up with their crap just for the sake of having a man. You can just see them seething with anger behind the keyboards 😅

Exactly, these women are the antithesis of what they see as ideal in a woman.
Men have only been able to dominate because they were able to subjugate women, able to work things to male advantage such that women (if they wanted to get on in life at all) had to align themselves with/work for, men.
No animal will willingly cede power, we should not be surprised that men feel threatened.

True.

For some reason your comment made me think of the past too. Just think of how so many women were accused of ‘witchcraft’ in the 1600s. Just wise women mixing herbs, caring for others and likely collaborating and using their ‘power’ of femininity. They were hunted and slaughtered. Has nothing changed…

WanOban · 24/08/2024 18:19

Yes women are rising up, dictating their own terms and are refusing to minimise themselves to make other people feel better. There’s a palpable shift… which Taylor has encapsulated in ‘You Need to Calm Down’ and ‘The Man’. Barbie was the biggest grossing movie because the message resonates with so many of us who are sick and tired of this shit.

Men are inherently more entitled than women and most don’t even know it. Society expects women to minimise ourselves, put others first all the time.

Well here’s an experiment for you that will demonstrate this. Walk down the street and consciously refuse to move position when a man walks towards you. You will have to probably fight the urge not to move. He will not move until the last second. I do this periodically and it is always the same with some exceptions. But I still revert to type and move. It could be confirmation bias but it’s certainly made me think about how I minimise myself and don’t claim the physical/ abstract space I am entitled to.
