What does Taylor Swift represent that makes men hate her enough to want to kill her fans?

The girls attending the dance class, the fans in Vienna, the girl in London coming from Australia.
Is it because they feel shut out of something joyful for women and girls? They can't stand to see women having a great time, being a happy community without the need for men?
Is it because she tells relatable stories about her relationships with men? Her incredible success? Because she can't be controlled and all that might rub off on young girls and make them believe they can be more on their own?
What is it that certain men can't stand about women being Swifties that makes them violent?
Does it speak to a widespread general misogyny in society?

True.

For some reason your comment made me think of the past too. Just think of how so many women were accused of ‘witchcraft’ in the 1600s. Just wise women mixing herbs, caring for others and likely collaborating and using their ‘power’ of femininity. They were hunted and slaughtered. Has nothing changed…

My understanding is that often if a woman was accused of witchcraft and executed, her property, possibly valuable, could then be seized. Or anyway, in the end, it was no longer hers.
These girls who go to concerts have 'escaped' male supervision, and they have their own pocket money, have organized amongst themselves with other fans, etc. etc.

I also hadn't heard those grim slurs. It's so depressing that men feel emboldened to act this way. Also to be openly racist and violent against minorities and the police in the recent riots. What a miserable future for our poor girls. Just wanting for a couple of hours to sing and be carefree, to be themselves without being judged and grim males want to stab them or blow them up.
I think in part this is also a backlash against the diversity and inclusion swing and white men being told they're the root of all evil. If you're poor and struggling to find work, have had your local industries destroyed you probably don't feel very 'privileged'.
It's why Donald Trump.
But they blame women for it all.

It's very telling that the worst thing these men can think of happening to a woman is being old, single and childless- and yet so often they're single and childless themselves. They hate Taylor Swift's popularity because she's saying be your own self, don't depend on men, that's a huge problem for them, all those women supporting each other, telling little girls they can be what they want to be.
If they could only see that women are happy to have a good man in their life maybe they could change but the Tate's of the world tell them lies, stupid, stupid lies

Don’t even get me started on that!

I was reading about one man who was jailed for trying to set a hotel housing refugees on fire - he has a whole list of child abuse convictions against him as do many of that ilk who claim they were rioting to “save are girls”

It seems like what they really mean is they want to save the girls for them 🤢

Why don’t any of these disgruntled men challenge paedophiles like him if they genuinely care about abuse of women and girls? Instead they’re rioting with one of the main culprits 🙄

Daleksatemyshed · 24/08/2024 19:11

@Newstarts1 they don't care about the DC, it's just an excuse to go out and be violent, it makes them feel powerful when they're not.

BlackShuck3 · 24/08/2024 19:16

@Daleksatemyshed
If they could only see that women are happy to have a good man in their life
I dont think they want to be good men, they want to be 'alpha bad boys' who have the pick of all the women and are envied by other men

Completely. It’s a perfect example of people feeling frustrated and powerless and deciding to punch down which is sad. A tale as old as time unfortunately.

WanOban · 24/08/2024 19:20

Taylor Swift said this week that she is not ready to talk about the last few weeks yet because her priority is to keep fans safe.

I’m expecting she will have much to say come December when the Eras tour draws to a close. It’s quite clear there is a high level of threat and she is number 1 target for these women hating misogynists.

Knowing her, she will struggle to stay quiet but she must feel so much responsibility to keep people safe. The December finish coincides with the election results… we’ll know either way who has won and it won’t be pretty for women either way. If Kamala wins all hell could break loose. She must have all of this weighing on her shoulders.

Rhaidimiddim · 24/08/2024 19:22

And she has real power within the industry. Hard power that she weilds and lets everyone know it.

I had to Google 'a 304'. Had no idea. It just said 'stainless steel' to me.

Edited

I had to Google it too, it spells hoe if upside down on a calculator

I think you have to put it into a calculator and read it upside down.
Yes, that's their level.

Oh my god, I thought you were joking, but no!
I mean you’ve almost got to feel sorry for them, are they not embarrassed at how utterly pathetic they are?

Alucard55 · 24/08/2024 19:29

Yes women are rising up, dictating their own terms and are refusing to minimise themselves to make other people feel better. There’s a palpable shift… which Taylor has encapsulated in ‘You Need to Calm Down’ and ‘The Man’. Barbie was the biggest grossing movie because the message resonates with so many of us who are sick and tired of this shit.

Men are inherently more entitled than women and most don’t even know it. Society expects women to minimise ourselves, put others first all the time.

Well here’s an experiment for you that will demonstrate this. Walk down the street and consciously refuse to move position when a man walks towards you. You will have to probably fight the urge not to move. He will not move until the last second. I do this periodically and it is always the same with some exceptions. But I still revert to type and move. It could be confirmation bias but it’s certainly made me think about how I minimise myself and don’t claim the physical/ abstract space I am entitled to.

Patriarchy chicken. I do this too I love it. And if a man tries to usher me on the bus before him (there's a difference between a man saying after you and ushering you ahead) I say no thanks and don't move. They fucking hate it you can see their brains malfunction.

coldcallerbaiter · 24/08/2024 19:31

The status quo or social contract used to be that all/most men could find someone to marry young with. Things have changed, they believe women are more picky and have careers and that has caused a divide between sought after men and ones who aren’t. These ‘aren’t ‘ men are angry about this.

With regard to TS, she has a bf right? She may settle down and have dc, there is nothing wrong with that, if she decides to.

Newstarts1 · 24/08/2024 17:58

I completely agree. It’s so transparent they are unhappy about their own lives and fearful for the future so they are trying to scare women into settling instead of trying to be better people who can actually attract a nice woman.

And they never have anything to say when people point out that many adults including deadbeat fathers have children and “die alone” anyway. Anyone who works in a nursing home can tell you that.

When I did online dating I remember trying to talk to this guy about what he did for fun except the gym or what he was interested in and he really couldn’t tell me. I’ve seen that with a lot of men, they don’t seem to have any hobbies and it’s tedious to me. One guy even said his hobby was “sleeping” 😐

Did you get his number? That’s my hobby too.

NewTwenty · 24/08/2024 20:14

It’s grim, but I think the male urge for control over the ‘mate-able’ female population is as old as the hills…

A few years ago there was an issue in a particular religious community, whereby young men would regularly barricade places of worship where it was known that a young woman was marrying ‘out’ of the community. They would gather in groups outside, being intimidating, with the aim of calling off the wedding. The slogan was, of course, that outsiders were ‘taking our girls’.

This is a community that has hugely embraced education and professional careers for both men and women, but still has very conservative views around marriage. So there is a big mismatch between whom/what a young woman might want and the conservative views of her parents or wider community.

An article came out in a women’s magazine, although it didn’t make the mainstream press. I remember asking my DH (who grew up in that community) what he thought and he said:
‘I think some of those men need to think about exactly what they are offering themselves.’

It depressing. Also note that many religious groupings prohibit or discourage marrying ‘out’. Is it to keep the faith alive or assure the supply of young women for men of that faith?

Singleandproud · 24/08/2024 20:27

Someone mentioned witch hunts, I found it really interesting that the main English witch hunts ceased because men started to become empathetic to the women and angry about the hunts. At the time many men were away from home doing war and other manly pursuits of the 14/1500s, and the incel like James 1 and Matthew Hopkins and others who hated women hunted them and targeted the ones largely with no man at home or in the family. Because the men were away from home women had taken on more of the physical homework duties and become more independent which didn't go down well and women had to be put back in their place and it wasn't until the men returned that it all stopped as they were not happy with what was going on with their women folk.

It's not all men but its always men though, and nothing has changed. Can't let those independent women get too big for their boots

HedgehogCabinFan · 24/08/2024 20:30

She is clearly loathed by a minority of Islamic extremists who loathe female emancipation

jacksonlambsregulardisorder · 24/08/2024 20:38

It must on some level be about the energy and enthusiasm not centering a male. There's been years and years of boy bands touring to almost exclusively young, female audiences without this kind of reaction. I don't even think it's about the content of TS's songs (although of course it's a factor), I think she could get up and sing nursery rhymes it's the fact that she's female and everyone is there to see, celebrate and centre her as a woman that's the trigger.

Newstarts1 · 24/08/2024 20:45

Mirandamermaid24 · 24/08/2024 19:50

Fair enough 😂

no I don’t have his number!

I decided someone who had no interests outside of work other than sleeping probably wasn’t for me so I unmatched him 😬 but there’s someone for everyone clearly lol

I don’t think it’s TS. I think it’s just an event that these attackers know will have plenty of female victims to rampage amongst.

If I wanted to kill a bunch of blokes, I’d be going to a gaming convention…

@LoremIpsumCici "If I wanted to kill a bunch of blokes, I’d be going to a gaming convention…"

eek - please don't. Maybe my daughter and I are a minority, but I'd say at least 25% of folks at gaming conventions are female.

Newstarts1 · 24/08/2024 21:17

Oh and another guy said he likes to get drunk with a bottle of wine in his own living room for his hobby 🥱But I have to say I appreciated the honesty, because I mean after I’ve shared all the stuff I’m interested in - theatre, reading, travel, sightseeing, eating out etc they could’ve easily nodded along and claimed to enjoy those things too like some men do to reel you in.

But it’s interesting some seemed surprised when I turned down a date and pointed out we didn’t seem compatible.

Maybe I have a high bar since most men in my family and my male friends have various hobbies and interests and are all self sufficient in that they can cook and keep a clean house, maintain friendships etc but I don’t think it should be exceptional for a man to have a bit about him beyond going to work and gym 😵‍💫

I agree with what a pp said -either on this thread or another I’ve read today - for too long a lot of men have got away with being very incomplete or undeveloped people. And this is why so many (not all) of them are angry at well-rounded women living their lives happily with out them. They’re bored and frustrated and want someone to blame. I wish they would channel that energy into improving themselves and nurturing the platonic relationships in their life.

WanOban · 24/08/2024 21:51

But I thought Andrew Tate was all about self improvement and being your best self physically and in career/ hobbies etc. that’s the bit that reels in so many young men and he does inspire them to develop… it’s just that the end goals are all wrong- money, controlling women, fame.

BUT it does say to me that young men are looking for role models and are interested in self improvement. If there were other more positive role models, then Tate might not be as popular.

They aren't exactly doing anything to demonstrate that they're not, though - are they?

Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance’s criticism of prominent Democrats as “childless cat ladies” has unleashed fury among women, with many now reclaiming the age-old sexist trope as a call to action this election season.

In a 2021 interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, then-Senate-candidate Vance complained that the U.S. was being run by Democrats, corporate oligarchs and "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."

They are really scared of single women for some reason 🤷‍♀️
