Our very own lovely @gussiegrips (of the Merkin Protest!) is on "Gender a Wider Lens" this week, talking about pelvic health and the effects on women of taking fucktons of testosterone. She is deeply caring. No words are minced.

Heads up if you are wearing headphones turn the volume right down!

This is very much a side point, but I love the pictures they have chosen for that podcast; three women looking serious and intelligent rather than smiling to please others.

YellowAsteroid · 26/07/2024 12:12

I think the Wider Lens podcast is one of the best around. So interesting. Stella & Sasha don't come at the issues from a particularly feminist POV, but they do come at issues as thoughtful and compassionate and highly expert, therapists.

Another really interesting one is Stephanie Winn's You Must be Some Kind of Therapist. Although she can sometimes be a bit self-involved.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 26/07/2024 13:10

I love the way Sasha and Stella ask the questions I want to ask. I get more appreciative of Sasha Ayad all the time, I used to think she was a bit woo-woo but she doesn't take anything at face value and she's often the one asking "and is there data or is that just a hypothesis?"

Just placemarking. But thought I'd do it in style.

I want Ms Miller to be my physio - buggrit, I want her to adopt me. She is so so lovely, and sensible, and compassionate. How any of these three women could be called bigoted, evil or transphobic shows just how far from reality some gender extremist ideologues are.

Yes because only stupid people smile.

RayonSunrise · 26/07/2024 14:03

That's quite enough bad faith extrapolation, LovelyBitofHam.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 26/07/2024 14:26

Elaine Miller has a great sense of humour but there was nothing to smile about in the topic. No reason to look anything but dead serious.

Gosh, hearing about the trans identified young females with horrific vaginal atrophy being upset about the medical solution (local oestrogen) shows how badly both basic sexual health education and gender ideology has failed people so badly.

CalamityJii · 26/07/2024 14:41

Elaine!! 🙌

She's still a practising physio (keeps wanting to autocorrect to psycho). She's all paid up with her professional bodies. You'd just need to throw money at her.

Boiledbeetle · 26/07/2024 15:37

I mean not literally at her, she's not doing drag!

I do like to get the merkin bunting out as well on Elaine Miller threads!

I really want to go and watch the video, but I'm saving it for later

borntobequiet · 26/07/2024 17:49

That is such a good watch. Thanks.

quantumbutterfly · 26/07/2024 19:58

That reminds me, must do my pelvic floor exercises. Elaine is a bit of a life saver.

quantumbutterfly · 26/07/2024 20:04

Her book sounds useful.

I was just thinking Stella looks on the verge of tears.
And who can blame her?

Boiledbeetle · 26/07/2024 21:06

Well worth watching,if rather sobering.

I've heard her discuss some of these issues before but it still makes me feel so sorry for these young women who have no clue what they've done to themselves or signed themselves up for in their teens.

fabricstash · 26/07/2024 22:29

Great interview and sobering. I think being peri I have only just realised how important balanced hormones are. To deliberately encourage young people to throw their health away on an unachievable dream is so sad. I get that it works for some but only if honest from the start

WarriorN · 27/07/2024 07:47

I've not finished it but just to say that what I've heard so far is really helpful for any woman.

The discussion about weightlifting and eating more protein not necessarily being protective due to form and pelvic floor is really useful! A reminder to 'zip up' when exercising (Pilates stylee.)

Seriestwo · 28/07/2024 09:51

Yes, that is something I’d like to hear more about. These women who reject womanhood are still female like the rest of us so there are many common health issues.

I was sad the photo wasn't in the (briliant) "Women Wont Wheesht" book.
