At the TUC's LGBT+ conference over the last couple of days an emergency motion was unanimously passed criticising the Cass report on the basis of exclusion of evidence, methodological issues, disregard for the Equality Act...

Can't find full text or details. Was anyone there?

WHAT????

To be fair, any Trans LGBTQ conference is going to do whatever it can to denounce Cass as "rubbish" or whatever.
That shouldn't be a surprise.

Thankfully, Trans activists are a minority and most people who are actually in power have taken it on board, we're seeing lots of evidence of that already.

I wasn’t there but if you look at this agenda it is not surprising they would target Cass.
This is a seriously fundamentalist control room.

It presents boundaries to the TQ+ political movement, of course they don't accept it. No captured, TQ+ political group will, it's bloody inconvenient all this child protection and caution and ethics.

The worrying thing is that Labour are quite obviously doing backroom deals with these organisations and their manifesto promise to implement Cass would seem to me something we're going to see wangled out of all recognition.

Did anyone see this example of trans ideology fundamentalist stasi-like control in action?

TUC = Tyranny Under Construction

Well put.

WarriorN · 29/06/2024 16:04

Is it just the group? Or the whole of TUC?

I think it must be a group. But I am sure the TUC as a whole will have already been trained to prioritise and be informed of all Trans demands.

There was a
TUC LGBT+ Leadership Programme delivered by last year anyway.

Overview
*Application deadline extended: 19th December.
We’re launching a brand-new LGBT+ leadership programme for the Trade Union movement.

Through a series of six two-hour evening sessions, delivered weekly 7pm-9pm, participants will develop their skills and confidence to step up as LGBT+ leaders in their Unions and beyond.

The programme will bring together a cohort of 20 Union reps and activists to learn and share expertise and experience. The programme will provide the group with the opportunity to:

Explore their own approach to leadership and what authentic LGBT+ leadership could look like

Develop a deeper understanding of the Trade Union movement including employment law, structures, and organisational and industrial challenges

Develop a network of supportive LGBT+ leaders in the Trade Union movement which enables further leadership development

The sessions will be delivered by Stonewall and representatives from the trade union movement. The total cost of this programme is £250 per delegate.

Programme dates
Module 1: Welcome to the programme (February 8)
Module 2: The power of LGBT+ Leadership (February 15)
Module 3: Understanding Unions Part One (February 22)
Module 4: Centring wellbeing in leadership practice (March 8)
Module 5: Understanding Unions Part Two (March 15)
Module 6: Nurturing your leadership development (March 22)

All sessions will run 7pm – 9pm over Zoom.

An in-person reunion session will be organised three months after the programme.
