JK Rowling has written a piece saying that ‘Labour has dismissed women like me. I’ll struggle to vote for it’.
In it she says that ‘Keir Starmer has failed to convince me that his party has changed its position on the rights of women — it struggles to say what a woman is at all’.
She concludes that ‘as long as Labour remains dismissive and often offensive towards women fighting to retain the rights their foremothers thought were won for all time, I’ll struggle to support them. The women who wouldn’t wheesht [keep quiet] didn’t leave Labour. Labour abandoned them’.

Labour has really messed up on gender ideology, trying to be all things to all women, and to offend no one, and in the process offending everyone. They should have gripped this weeks (years) ago. Thousands of women are saying they simply can’t vote for a party that has been so cowardly and cavalier with their rights.
Meanwhile many young women won’t vote for the party because of its position on Palestine. Labour supporters have to worry that too many people are abandoning the party, that a slam dunk is far from a given.
