Worth listening to on catch up if you can. Also talking about VAT on private school fees.

OP posts:
changeison · 03/06/2024 13:27

is he doing his usual approach of pretending he doesn't understand and wishes everyone could just get along and be kind?

No not at all. He was letting his guests speak and Maya was great (talking to a trans caller).

Maya did well in the face of the trans caller pulling out all the classics such as "I am female because my birth certificate says so" (so much for 'just admin') and "I have been on a female ward lots of times and never had a problem" (silence is not consent).

The more interactions like that the better as far as I can see. Those interactions blow away the 'vulnerable and marginalised' cover with fully visible male entitlement.

Mermoose · 03/06/2024 15:20

Speaking generally, whenever a TW claims that they are perceived as female I am interested to know how likely that is and google them. I've yet to find that it is likely. I don't at all think that "you can always tell" but male people who wish to be seen as female tend to believe they do even when they very obviously don't.

Passing isn't a good or fair criteria for whether someone uses a space or not but even if it were, it would never work because people who don't pass think they do.

Well, the caller did not sound female for a start. Did you note the You can't deny me that in their response, says it all.

Underthinker · 03/06/2024 17:32

Missed this. Did Maya give any comment on the Tory Equality Act proposal? IIRC her thoughts on how the law needed to change were along the lines of what Sunak announced today weren't they?

Justme56 · 03/06/2024 18:08

I think the trans person was Joanne Monck. Joanne transitioned at age 58 in 2014. From online information they work in DEI and advise Sussex Police (and other organisations) on trans issues.

Well colour me surprised! Working in DEI and for Sussex Police well, well, well.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 03/06/2024 18:26

Oh joy another TW whose made money out of trampling down women’s single sex spaces

Scavernick · 03/06/2024 18:42

He was on the radio this morning crowing about using women's loos and saying that Badenoch's plans wold leave him vulnerable. Arsehole.

DaveClifton · 03/06/2024 19:40

The end of the discussion was three blokes talking about women's rights, which just shows how far we've come in this debate. Sigh.

GimmeGin · 03/06/2024 19:46

Yes completely agree these TW think nobody can tell they are not women.

for eg when India Willoughby was on First Dates, I thought I’ll wait to see if DH notices anything unusual as he has no clue who she is (iirc India is quite vociferous about looking like a woman). Anyway, after about 2 mins DH pipes up - is she a man?

The other thing I thought strange about that episode of First Dates…. India’s date didn’t seem that interested in her until she told him she had transitioned. That seemed to revv him right up. They were full on snogging on the First Dates sofa. Her Adam’s apple was getting a right good workout! 🤣

Helleofabore · 03/06/2024 20:02

I noticed several times that Monck referred themselves as ‘female’ so therefore should never be excluded from ‘female’ services, yet expressed dismay that ‘men’ might exploit a loop hole.

It is so fucked up to hear this interview on so many levels. This was like seeing one of those threads we get where male
posters say this and expect us to support them and that some posters then want us to speak supportatively to so that those male people feel valued and continue to act as misogynists and basically abuse women by ignoring their needs.

It certainly should be a recommended listen for any person who decides to lecture others that we should use pronouns out of respect. Where was any fucking respect shown by this male interviewee? There was none. It was all ‘but I am one of you women, I get to have my way and you are speaking rubbish’.

It's interesting, that's the second person I've seen recently talking about how transitioning was the 'death' of their old self and the rebirth of a new self.

lcakethereforeIam · 03/06/2024 20:47

Holy fuck! Not the most flattering still.

It's always deeply ironic when the female referrers put on a public show of very male behaviour.

Bloody hell!

Panicmode1 · 03/06/2024 22:03

I thought Maya was excellent today....

I'm finding it baffling that all of these people seem to genuinely believe that they are now female because they have been allowed to falsify their paperwork. Some are even more deluded....I attach an extract from the Telegraph today from an interview with the well known transgender judge who has recently stepped down....even if the EA is strengthened, we still have to repeal the GRA....!

The whole of that article is worth a read

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/06/03/first-transgender-judge-hits-out-trans-hostile-conspiracy/

https://archive.ph/3YQDo paywall dodge

This is a judge!

I think it might warrant its own thread. My opinion is that the judge has got it backwards. Hostility from gay and bi people, the rise of the gender critical movement is down to the egregious behaviour of some transpeople and their so called allies. Their allies imo grotesque, entitled behaviour has caused nothing but damage. Did they honestly think carrying on the way they have wouldn't trigger a pushback?

She's an 'endocrinological' woman? How does that work?

Endickrinological?
