Good

IDoNotConsentToAstonResearch · 29/04/2024 13:12

It’s an actual relief when these things are taken with a normal amount of seriousness, there have been so many cases where they haven’t.

LarkLane · 29/04/2024 13:18

One of BBs and LOJ's right side of the table/history people.

SeulementUneFois · 29/04/2024 13:21

Good.

teawamutu · 29/04/2024 13:21

Lock the fucker up.

And let Billy Bragg know one of the people on his side of the table might want a visit.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 29/04/2024 14:04

Good, It's about time. Too much time, effort and police funding wasted on harassing gc women defending themselves and their rights, delighted to see the tables are finally turning.

Helleofabore · 29/04/2024 14:08

This is good news.

RoyalCorgi · 29/04/2024 14:10

Quite. Funny how Billy has no compunction about being on the same side of the table as a bunch of violent psychopaths.

Tallisker · 29/04/2024 15:00

A bunch of violent male psychopaths

Dineasair · 29/04/2024 18:49

Good! About bloody time they start to suffer the consequences, they got away with it for far too long.

I hope he goes to prison . JKR is a queen.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 29/04/2024 18:59

But the abuse happens equally from both sides, so we can expect the arrest of a GC woman for threatening someone trans any day now...

heathspeedwell · 29/04/2024 19:23

Male pattern violence.

frazzled1 · 29/04/2024 20:15

Can't find any report of Glenn Mullen's threats on the BBC... Have I missed something?

The BBC being fully captured by a misogynist movement?

did I miss the wall to wall coverage of WPATH on the BBC?

And there was me thinking it was GC women who were aligned with "the wrong sort of people"....

Yes! Here it is:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-65627756

'The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) said the Florida bills would have "a chilling effect on the medical community by inserting politics into healthcare".'

May 2023

DeSantis speaks to a crowd gathered in Florida

DeSantis limits trans treatments, drag shows, pronoun use in Florida

The governor says the laws will make Florida a "refuge of sanity". Critics called them "mean spirited".

I’ll be very interested to read his justification for his behaviour.

IncompleteSenten · 30/04/2024 22:50

I think a big part of the reason this issue has got so huge is the number of men who have jumped on it as an excuse to insult, abuse and threaten women and be applauded for it.

I don't believe they give a flying fuck about "trans rights". I think their motivation is to be able to make hate filled, threatening and abusive posts towards women and be praised for it.

If this man ends up doing time then we'll see them starting to stfu. There's no point defending trans rights if they don't get to make rape and death threats towards women.

We'll see how much they really care about trans people when they can no longer safely threaten women.

Chersfrozenface · 04/06/2024 20:17

He didn't get jail - two eight-week prison sentences, suspended for two years, to be served concurrently.

And the magistrate Paul Goldspring said that Mullen was a "man of previous good character" who had "strong views about gender equality". So that's all right, then. FFS.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 04/06/2024 20:38

So he basically got away with what he did. A pathetic suspended sentence is certainly going to send a strong message to all these violent men : 'do what you like mate, we'll do nothing about it, cheers!'

Nomnomnew · 04/06/2024 21:04

Surprised (not really) that the BBC has reported this but has been silent as to the fact it’s a TRA and that JKR and Rosie Duffield were particular targets due to their GC views. 🙄

Edited

But, don't you know? There are strong feelings on both sides. The heart needs to be taken out of the debate.

Hmm
