https://www.quackometer.net/blog/2024/04/breaking-down-cass-review-myths-and-misconceptions-what-you-need-to-know.html

Myth 1: 98% of all studies in this area were ignored.

Myth 2: Cass recommended no Trans Healthcare for Under 25s.

Myth 3: Cass is demanding only Double Blind Randomised Controlled Trials be used as evidence in “Trans Healthcare”.

Myth 4: There were less than 10 detransitioners out of 3499 patients in the Cass study.

Yes it's a great blog, posted it on a few other threads this morning.

Interesting that lots of European countries are taking the Cass Review very seriously. This Telegraph article has an interesting round up of the latest changes in approaches to gender: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/health/other/belgium-and-netherlands-call-for-puberty-blocker-restrictions-following-cass-review/ar-BB1lyUDn?ocid=socialshare&pc=DCTS&cvid=b4146bb95caa4ef7a04ead2350acee15&ei=27

What a great overview. I’m so glad some are taking the Cass review seriously.

Thanks for this. You'd think these activists at some point would stop and consider whether they are in fact correct when they have to lie so much to defend their position. I guess once you've convinced yourself of the huge lie that some men are women you can lie about pretty much anything.

The figures that different countries are collating are so damning and yet some people are still sticking their fingers in their ears.

"Figures from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom show that more than 95 per cent of individuals who initiated puberty inhibition continue with gender-affirming treatments,” the report by P Vankrunkelsven P, K Casteels K and J De Vleminck said.

“However, when young people with gender dysphoria go through their natural puberty, these feelings will only persist in about 15 per cent.”

Thanks for this OP.

They're whipping themselves up into ever more batshit claims in the many threads about it on that subreddit.

Someone on the one you linked suggests a sense of perspective about calling the Cass review a "genocide" when bombs are being dropped in the Middle East and is downvoted into oblivion. Then the people who seem to have not heard of Godwin and his law really get going on the 1930s Germany comparisons.

nauticant · 15/04/2024 11:02

Yesterday I thought "if only someone would do a list of the most common misrepresentations of the Cass Review report being spread by trans activists". This is fantastic.

StealthSpinach · 15/04/2024 12:03

Australia’s response to the Cass Review - has been fingers in ears and shouting la la la la…

Apparently, as it is a UK review, it is not relevant in Australia. So our gender clinics will keep following the “best practice” guidelines as endorsed by most enlightened countries who aren’t transphobic bigots.

That reddit thread is a terrifying echo chamber

LogicLoverLlama · 15/04/2024 13:28

Did you see where they genuinely think men will be stopped from wearing skirts? Like, by the police?

And what about the Scottish Police!

Iamnotalemming · 15/04/2024 13:46

Yes and cis women will be banned from having pixie cuts!!! It's the obvious logical outcome of the Cass Report 🙃

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 15/04/2024 13:53

Wow. The level of paranoia there is astounding.

Slightly tangential, but if we Gen Z-ers were really as gender non conforming as we like to think we are, there would be way more short-haired women in our age group.

I have one of these "soon to be banned!?!?" pixie cuts and I'm always the odd one out. I've even had gender believers and be-kinders suggest I'm not very womanly looking! Kind of funny considering I'm short even for a woman, and have a petite build and feminine facial features.

Back on topic, that Reddit comment was bizarre. There seems to be an awful lot of odd reading comprehension and "creative" interpretations of the Cass Report.

NecessaryScene · 15/04/2024 14:12

One of the myths was issued before the review was even published .

We had a very special person bring that along to a thread here the other day:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5049818-to-nominate-the-principle-authors-of-the-cass-review-for-this

Took a little while to dig down into where that screenshot claimed to be from, but we got there on page 8.

Fun thread...

Wow. The level of paranoia there is astounding.

I imagine there is a very high prevalence of ASD among trans identifying Redditors. There appears to be some link between ASD and paranoid tendencies, which makes sense if you struggle to read people and have had bad social experiences.

I had a friend who sabotaged our friendship due to paranoia regarding my thoughts on trans people. This incident actually led to the GP referring him to autism assessment.

It's distressing to see how distressed these Redditors are. I can only hope this reaction has not been cynically whipped up by activists in less vulnerable mental states in order to provoke these kinds of fear responses.

What do activists think was happening to children before 2011 when puberty blockers were introduced?

All those "trans kids" who were too afraid to come out (about 2,500 per year) and accessing no treatment should have been killing themselves in large number, shouldn't they? And after 2011 the suicide rate should have dropped.

Did it?

No. the suicide rate shows no correlation at all

Are the older (55+) ladies in church every Sunday, all with short hair, all in trousers, all in flat shoes, being gender non-conformist, or just comfortable and practical?
