Myth 1: 98% of all studies in this area were ignored.

Myth 2: Cass recommended no Trans Healthcare for Under 25s.

Myth 3: Cass is demanding only Double Blind Randomised Controlled Trials be used as evidence in “Trans Healthcare”.

Myth 4: There were less than 10 detransitioners out of 3499 patients in the Cass study.

Thanks for posting this - very helpful for those of us with Cass deniers in our lives

Andy Lewis (Le Canard Noir and Quackometer) has a handle on MN and I can't remember it.

He's a history of fine analysis of research and was a leading skeptic until that movement left him. (Like the Colin Wright Left-Right meme.)

Does the fall from grace never stop? I've not expected much of Gorski from the Science Based Medicine blog for some time but this is a new low. (Gorski was leading light in Skeptics that abandoned their scepticism.)

For those unfamiliar with Gorski, he did a lot of fine work debunking Wakefield and Holocaust deniers. ETA: he's also a breast cancer surgeon and clinical researcher.

I was too late to edit to add that I'm especially disappointed in Gorski because he spent a lot of time and personal resources to debunk Geiers and the lucrative Lupron protocol they offered as a treatment for autism. He used to be all over the harms of Lupron for children.

I can't tell you how crushingly disappointing all this is.

Victoria Atkins and Rosie Duffield both coming across very well

EasternStandard · 15/04/2024 18:01

Who is in the pink jacket?

EasternStandard · 15/04/2024 18:04

ah Miriam Cates

These are the scariest commentators for me because they KNOW they're lying. Not mistaken, not out of their depth, deliberately looking to mislead.

It can only be because, in their quasi-religious zeal, they believe the ends justify the means.

The true believers doing the Lord's work. Who is the Lord in this analogy? Queer Theory?

I wonder if it would help to try to frame things in the activists' own terms. "Gender identity is fluid" I'm sure most of them would be happy to sign up for. The next step is simply "it's especially fluid for children and young people, and we need to take that into account so they don't get harmed".

I wonder if it would help to try to frame things in the activists' own terms.

Was a bit of that in the latest Queens Speech episode, responding to the WPATH response to Cass:

"Cisnormative bias". These are the people, by the way, who advocate for puberty blockers because it makes adolescent boys look more girly when they grow up. It advocates for radical surgery to turn perfectly healthy genitals into a simulacrum of those of the opposite sex. It removes the breasts from teenage girls so that they look more manly. They're the ones who are operating with cisnormative bias, if you ask me.

- Yeah, that's a good point, actually. Because in many respects as we've criticised in the past, what with the the cohort at the Tavistock being mainly same sex attracted, taking a proto-lesbian or or little boy who's going to grow up to be gay and putting them through this... It's heterosexualising surgery. So you're absolutely right.

- Absolutely, and it's turning them into a cisnormative version of a man/woman so I don't know where they get away with this I really don't.
