That tattoo of Penis Venus😳

Tbf, the swimmer is acting within the rules. I expect not being allowed to wear a top in the men's team must have been embarrassing (and it's a stupid rule). I'm saving most of my sympathy though for the women and girls having to endure this. I hope, at least, they're not having to share changing rooms.

Trans swimmer at New Jersey liberal arts college breaks women's record

Meghan Cortez-Fields, a transgender swimmer at New Jersey's Ramapo College, smashed the school's 100 yard women's butterfly record after transferring from the men's team.

I see the usual filters being rather heavily used in those photos.

Well done to Riley Gaines speaking out but shame it falls on deaf ears to those making these appalling decisions.

I wonder how many records Meghan broke vs men? 🤔

stealtheatingtunnocks · 22/11/2023 14:50

Does the Venus tattoo have a penis?

Helleofabore · 22/11/2023 14:56

So the NCAA has APPROVED this male athlete competing against the female athletes? Remarkable that this has been allowed to continue.

Helleofabore · 22/11/2023 14:57

yes Stealth. That Venus has a penis.

MagpiePi · 22/11/2023 14:58

How many women swimmers pose like that for photos?

I sincerely hope that any records that men set in women's events will be revoked in the future.

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 22/11/2023 15:05

That tattoo is weird. What’s going on over the left shoulder of the “Venus” - it looks like some kind of limbless body attached sideways on.

Circumferences · 22/11/2023 15:13

How is this still happening? ??

IcakethereforeIam · 22/11/2023 15:23

It's a bad copy of part of Botticelli's Birth of Venus (read into that what you will). It's possibly unfinished, it looks brand new in Riley's tweet.

I take back what I said about being embarrassed because no tops allowed in the male swim team. Having just looked at the picture with sticking plaster over the nipples. I don't see embarrassment. Wonder if removing it hurt? 🤞

Oh FFS. And those highly sexualised poses. I guess it's more sunlight but I'm so sorry for those poor young women whose careers this TW is destroying.

Helleofabore · 22/11/2023 15:29

How is this happening you ask?

Because the NCAA won't adopt the FINA regulations. So, the NCAA, despite what happened with Thomas and what is likely to happen here, will continue to put their head in the sand and put women and girls competing in their comps at risk.

Who wants to bet that the push back during this season will make the NCAA start making statements that in the future they will adopt the FINA guidelines? Who wants to bet that this male athlete will be very successful in capturing the world's attention yet again and will add to the incredulity people feel that the NCAA has allowed this to continue?

Of course, thanks, it’s the hair. So as well as being naff and tasteless, it’s also a very poor drawing!

i don’t have tattoos, but is it normal to have such a large one like that in that orientation, it so that everyone else will see it upside down?

Plasmodesmata · 22/11/2023 16:07

Easier to allow tops to be worn in the male team than this alternative, surely?

RavingStone · 22/11/2023 16:12

Wouldn't the tattoo trigger dysphoria though? Dick aside, it's a very "female" shaped figure that's not going to be achieved by hormones or surgery.

I'm loving the fact that the rules state males can't wear tops in the pool but can get naked in the women's changing rooms.

Froodwithatowel · 22/11/2023 16:18

Non woman swimmer breaks women's record.

Except in fact they haven't, as it was the women's record, and it wasn't a woman who broke it.

Yep. Might as well just let Usian Bolt enter the women’s 100 metres - it’s just as fair

I'm untatted myself so I don't know. I suppose it'll be the rightway up if old Megs looks down when doing....whatever with Megs hands 🤢

Booo I hate this. I do want trans folk to be included in things as far as safely possible but this is just bonkers and not fair.

GoonieGang · 22/11/2023 16:43

I have absolutely no issues with transgender. I have a DSS who was born female. I do have an issue with someone who has a dick demanding the right to be classed as a woman in sport. I have even more rage for sports associations allowing it to happen.

Froodwithatowel · 22/11/2023 18:15

Men identifying as trans yes, should not be discriminated against, although the longer this goes on, experience and evidence is stacking up that 'identifying' as a woman is not just a self expressing, harmless, lovely thing to do that should be automatically protected.

But the problem with having nicely, kindly offered 'honorary woman status' was that it went with the expectation that no one would take the piss and push it to the point of wrecking women's sports, equality, rights and safety. And that you would expect a male who insisted they were a woman on actually having some care and consideration for the sex class in question.

Create third spaces by all means. But 'including' men in women's spaces and categories and words excludes some women from anything so that men can have everything. You will these days here some T activists righteously telling you that 'sometimes to include means excluding'. Yes. They're right. And the priority of a woman's space or facility or sport or resource is that it is accessible and inclusive of all female people.

UnremarkableBeasts · 23/11/2023 08:30

Interesting that the swimmer chose the most revealing option in men’s swimwear. You don’t have to wear tiny speedo style briefs. Most male swimmers wear knee length jammers.

The FINA rules do prevent tops (or even high rise bottoms) for male swimming. Part of that is in response to lots of cheating via swimwear in the past (sharksuits). But male swimmers could easily campaign to be allowed to wear non-performance enhancing swimwear that covers their chest if they wanted to.

Great post!

@MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving No, the tattoo is the wrong way up. The "rules" (obviously not official ones but still rules that any half decent tattooist follows) are that the tattoo placement should be head at the elbow, feet at the wrist, and if the face is not front on then it should face towards the person's body.

It is a fucking shit tattoo regardless of anything else. Since when does the penis grow out of the bottom of the stomach? I hope that there is hair to add otherwise her legs are joined together quite far down. She wouldn't be able to walk, but I suppose she could still do butterfly if she was swimming? 😁

The pose in the photo with his taped chest says it all. De-humanising, my fat arse!
