A wig doesn’t make you a woman

This has really riled me up this morning.

This man looks like he’s literally thrown a wig on and now demands everyone calls him a women.

I am all for respecting peoples choices but surely you lose some of that right when you become a dangerous sexual predator.

This is purely a power play by him.
He can do whatever he likes but you still have to show him respect by using his preferred pronouns and name.

Thankfully he’s in a male prison.

Are you really all for respecting people's choices? I'm not because I think that's the attitude that's helped get us here in this mess. 'Respect' is - or should be - a fairly strong word. I'll tolerate most, unless they conflict with my comfort and then I will not tolerate them.

This man's behaviour should be neither tolerated or respected.

This is obviously insane.

There was a good seminar by Sex Matters at the start of the year which spent some time looking at how we got here, and suggesting how to get back out.

There was a press problem that needed to be fixed - they show a bunch of examples - but we've massively overshot.

There are so many aspects of this that wind one up.

But there's something about cross dressing criminal men being referred to as she/her and woman in the press that makes my blood boil.

I feel exactly the same.

If you want to cut your hair off or wear a wig and call yourself a different name in your private life, then carry on.

As long as you’re not committing any crimes, believing you are a biological man/woman or expecting others to refer to you as the opposite sex then what someone does doesn’t really bother me.

But it makes me angry that this is a dangerous man that people are calling her/she and respecting their choice to identify as a woman - there is absolutely nothing female about him.

These are the crimes of a man, not a woman and I feel offended that the media is saying these crimes were committed by a female.

Agree with PP - we should only respect choices which are worthy of respect. This man's choices are not worthy of respect. Part of who he is is someone who abuses women (and men also, seemingly). Forcing people to use wrong sex pronouns is part of that abuse.

And the media, when they use wrong sex pronouns (in general but particularly when it comes to criminal sex offenders) is actively aiding and abetting this abuse - coercive control.

It's absolutely disgusting and has to stop. Note that victims don't get the same treatment in this article and are downgraded relative to the perpetrator. Did the "journalists" ask whether the prison guards had different gender pronouns to their correct sex pronouns before writing this article? No.

The criminal gets to dictate pronouns, the victims do not and are assigned sex based pronouns. So pronouns in the article aren't even consistent (some gender-based, some sex based). The media are colluding in abuse.

How do we think the victims will feel reading this article? The media is perpetuating the abuse this MAN has already inflicted upon these victims. They are making it worse, they are carrying on the abuse. It really shouldn't be allowed, but thank goddess for community notes.

I can't fathom how some peoples attitudes to being a woman are as simple as have long hair, wear makeup and dress in women's clothing. I don't use the term "offended" very often at all - but I do find it offensive.

What about the medical inequality we receive? What about the very little research into women's health that's classed as "just being a woman", but if those things happened to man there'd be options.
What about the fight women have had over the centuries to not be classed as second class citizens and to have rights and independence?

How dare they assume being a woman is as easy as dressing as one.

I also do not believe it is possible to "identify as a woman" whilst sexually assaulting one.

If he can turn off his female identity in order to assault a female nurse and a female prison officer, he can turn it off full stop.

Perverts are gonna perve, but forcing the general public to be complicit is all kinds of wrong.

it never ceases to amaze me that when, for instance, the IPSO guidelines were written compelling people to use wrong sex pronouns, the knowledge that we have cross dressing fetishists who get off on it, seems to have fallen out of everyone's head.

The thing that really astonishes be re the IPSO guidelines is that these reports routinely break the very first clause
The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information or images, including headlines not supported by the text.

They contain inaccurate and distorted information by referring to these male criminals as a 'woman' and using female pronouns, though they do at least quite often provide accurate images.

This man is the entirely predictable and logical outcome that feminists have been warning of.

We were told 'it would never happen' and 'there is no evidence'.

He is happening. He is the evidence.

He is availing himself of the rights and protections that were created for women, to try and address women's lower status and vulnerabilities.

Why did he have a female guard in attendance?
