Well this is going to be interesting! Jane and Fi on Times Radio have been pretty smug and terrible on gender issues thus far.

But Sharron is simply a wall of facts, reason and humanity. They can't argue... or can they? I'm tuning in 😊

Implying that Sharron is unfairly biased because of her experience. Priming the audience to dismiss what she says as prejudice.

Do post updates if you are listening and you have time.

I've just listened to this and Sharron was absolutely amazing, I'm in awe!
I'm also quite depressed that "But if women just trained a bit harder" came up - from 2 women - dear god how stupid! Sharron told brilliant stories about how when she broke her arms and her leg (in separate instances) her Dad strapped the limbs to her by wrapping her in cling film and she still trained!

MorrisZapp · 10/08/2023 16:28

Sharron was superb, the interviewer didn't even try to refute any points. She laughed out loud at 'train harder' and spoke at length about the abuse she receives compared to that men like Daley Thomson.

The follow up tweets were all supportive.

Great. Sharron is so reliable, her explanations are very clear. This is progress, isn't it, is SD was featured without a gender zealot in opposition? Or perhaps the hosts were the gender zealots in this case...

BellaAmorosa · 10/08/2023 16:31

*if SD was featured

'I'm also quite depressed that "But if women just trained a bit harder" came up - from 2 women - dear god how stupid!'

I didn't listen today but I've heard that Fi and Jane are pathetic on this issue. Surely they can't listen to Sharron and carry on with their stupidity?

Meh, this issue turns intelligent, sensitive, once women focussed women into fucking idiots.
They dribble inanities, become incapable of applying their once razor sharp intellectual / critical thinking skills and presumably have to drink copious amounts of gin to hide from themselves how utterly vapid thinking they've become.

It's tragic to behold.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 10/08/2023 17:42

She said that there is a lot of pressure on women to "be kind" but no-one expected men to say "be kind" to Lance Armstrong, he only doped a bit etc.

She is marvellous.

I've just started reading Sharron's book. It's really interesting. I recommend buying a copy to anyone who appreciates her work.

Violetparis · 10/08/2023 18:33

Sharron was excellent, Jane and Fi didn't seem to have any counter arguements at all. I liked Sharron saying that it was a Men's Rights Movement and that men would never put up with women taking over their spaces, achievements etc.

Definitely will, thanks for the tip 👍

I'm on holiday so can't listen, but glad it sounds like she was impressive as always. She really is great with this. What's her book called as I'll buy it simply to support her?

It’s called Unfair Play: The Battle for Women’s Sport and it’s a very good read. Craig Lord co-authors with Sharron.

How can people be so stupid.

Do they not understand that men are built differently?? With bigger hearts, bigger lung capacity. Different bone configuration. Not carting around a uterus. Not sloughing blood once a month.

It's not a question of bloody training.

If it was a question of training, do they honestly think that women wouldn't just train harder.

is it because we're too lazy? 🤣

It's all they're got so they have to keep pushing it.

MidCent · 10/08/2023 22:46

Fantastic that Radio Times had just a female speaker on to talk about female sports and didn't invite a male on to talk over her.
This is a step in the right direction!

Gothambutnotahamster · 10/08/2023 22:47

Thank you @borntobequiet

emsiewill · 11/08/2023 07:06

Just listened to this and very impressed with SD. I don't understand how anyone could argue with her and the science. Jane and Fi didn't even try (or only in a half hearted way with SD rebutting every feeble point they put across). Well done SD 👏🏻👏🏻
