Unbelievable.

RainyWeekend · 01/08/2023 13:12

Fuck sake!

Who signs this shit off? Do they have NO safeguarding at that council?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 01/08/2023 13:36

Can't wait to see the 'Let's Do Blackface, kids!'

Oh wait, no. That won't happen, will it; because blackface is racist and demeaning. Mocking and parodying women? have a jolly good time, kiddos.

WallaceinAnderland · 01/08/2023 15:47

Age range 14 to 18 is a bit odd isn't it?

Just looking at T(art) productions cabaret productions, there are some drag artists that seem to not be appropriate to be hanging out with 14 year old school kids you would think?? They also have a performer with downs syndrome which I find a bit exploitative. Will the children be roped into future productions- are there any limits?
Each performer is categorised by race and body shape, some are 'slim white' or one as 'a curvy aisian cabaret performer' or 'a medium build black cabaret performer' just seems odd, link below.

That's what identity politics is.

I wonder if they manage to run enough of the essentials - swimming lessons.

DoubleShotEspresso · 01/08/2023 17:29

This is obscene and utterly sickening. What are Oxford Council even thinking?

Has anyone signed their kids up for this?

I notice board favourite Sparkle Rainbow has his revealing sweaty jumpsuit out again.

IwantToRetire · 01/08/2023 17:33

Of all the things that a child might need to learn, and have the local council fund this, does "drag voice" even begin to qualify.

PickAChew · 01/08/2023 17:34

Why is public money being spent on this shit?

StephanieSuperpowers · 01/08/2023 17:38

So that the local councillors from the Reeves and Mortimer sketch can be kewl and funky and down with the kidz. Or they've been brainwashed by some blue haired children, which is the current explanation, I gather.

RoseslnTheHospital · 01/08/2023 17:43

To be fair, the photo of the rainbow jumpsuit drag artist isn't from the company that are running this camp in Oxford. It's a picture of the unrelated DQ Storytime. I presume the local news site has stuck that on as a stock image.

14-18 is maybe because this is advertised as related to theatre and performance, so may be hoping to appeal to gcse and a level drama/performance/theatre/art students.

Drag is adult entertainment, it should be 18 plus only. If any teen of mine asked to attend it would be a clear nope from me. With a full explanation why!

duc748 · 01/08/2023 17:43

The Nandy Defence? Those pesky blue-haired kids made me say it?

Yes, they whispered it to them and got away on their BMXs.

Unbelievable

Some adults are very dim

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2023 18:09

Yes why drag. Why not art or gaming or just drama

why is drag being introduced to children and council paying for itb

Agree. Or swimming. Or life saving courses for older kids who can already swim. There is a lack of resources and what is available is being spent on this
