'A woman who posted an alleged threatening comment about the SNP MP Joanna Cherry online has been found not guilty.
Eve Shaw, also known Adam Shaw, was said to have made the comment about the MP for Edinburgh South West during a Twitter conversation with a friend.
Shaw, 28, replied to a news article post about Cherry with the comment “STG [swear to God] I am gonna pop Joanna Cherry” at 5.23pm on January 22 last year, Edinburgh sheriff court was told.'

Yes, his defence seemed to be that he didn't mean by 'pop' Cherry that he'd shoot her, but that he'd sexually assault her.

It's not like rape threats are fine but murder threats aren't. I'm not sure what the judge meant by '“This was a very unwise message that no doubt caused a great deal of concern.“But I have some doubt, reasonable doubt, as to your guilt in the matter so you are therefore acquitted and I find you not guilty.”

Doubt as to guilt - is that a technical issue about whether Eve/Adam actually sent the message?

You've really upset someone with a message that could at a push be described as a joke, but is certainly easily read as a threat by professionals as well as the recipient.

I'm not absolutely sure you really meant to actually upset anyone, and it's just a woman and you didn't like her, so I'm forced to find you not guilty.

Outrageous that both headlines call the person making sexually violent threats a woman.

Have you seen GL he's got a better chance of pulling a man out of the loos than most women have. And if Graham doesn't have the strength to remove him what chance would a woman have if the man pretending to be a woman decided to do something typically male aimed at the woman. Like attack her, or push her into a stall or get in her face. Or just scare the shit out of her?

If I may ask, if you were using a woman's facility and a transwoman was there doing their own thing, would you be happy with a cis-man to then enter to cause a physical altercation with the transwoman?
