This is just so tedious. Why the obsessive inclusion of kids, rhetorical question.

These people are sick.
the woman has “master” written across her stomach. Can’t tell if it a scar or what but it’s definitely there.
normal people can’t even take their kids to the library or a gallery anymore without this shit being forced down throats. it’s not ok

Zeugma · 11/06/2023 22:31

Dear God. In what way is this any different to the baby rave thing of a few months ago with the leather fetish man dangling from the ceiling and trying to do handstands on a rickety fold-up chair? It’s not art, it’s a word we’re not allowed to use on here.

People have literally lost their wits over this. And as a pedant I don’t use 'literally' lightly.

In a (possibly misguided) defence of the mothers - there is no nakedness etc on display there and we don't know what the publicity material for the event looked like. I can sort of imagine going along to an "educational" trip to the art museum for toddlers and them looking bemused while everyone claps along to weird shit. I think I would definitely raise an eyebrow at the "we're queer" bit but maybe that's because I have "educated myself" these past few years. A lot of stuff targeted at toddlers is odd anyway so I can imagine someone who is usually an OK parent not really questioning it till later.

That might be overly generous though. Obviously if those nitwits did parade their children through the other room with the semi naked duck-piss man then none of the above counts.

namitynamechange · 11/06/2023 22:43

And I agree by the way the whole thing is messed up. But the fact that something is put on for children by a major art gallery is going to lead to some parents assuming that the performers etc are qualified and, as a baseline, not weirdos who post disturbing naked pictures of themselves. Foolish naivety.

LizzieSiddal · 11/06/2023 22:44

FFS Encouraging toddlers to chant “we’re all queer” is inexcusable.

But this is where it’s all leading if Stonewall etc have their way. They’re already encouraging primary schools to have Pride Parades.

Kimchikeffir · 11/06/2023 22:52

The Tate has blocked me on twitter, is that even allowed it’s a public body and I used to be a member. I have never interacted with the Tate online in any way.

louderthan · 11/06/2023 22:56

Slightly off topic but I used to live in the same block of flats as Mr Menno and can confirm that he is a fab person, super clever and sharp and articulate and very very funny.

PonyPatter44 · 11/06/2023 23:01

Well there's a thing. My post was deleted presumably for using the word that is often used to describe brushing a horse. @MNHQ, can you explain why? I wasn't rude or offensive towards any individual, I stated my opinion.

There’s a screenshot in Mr Menno’s twitter thread which mentions a workshop in the Play Studio between 2pm and 4pm which “explores protest, sound and dress up”. It looks like the people leading the kids workshop then took the workshop participants on a protest march or parade through the galleries (you can see the kids are holding long tubes which are some kind of homemade percussion instrument) and ended up in the gallery with the discussion panel taking place at 4pm and which was age 16+. That panel discussion was not the event with the person in their underwear.

In his twitter thread Mr Menno says that the Oestro Generation pop up (which was the event with the poetry reading in underwear) was elsewhere in the museum.

People seem to be assuming that the children were taken into the gallery with the semi-dressed person. But that isn’t what Mr Menno says in his twitter post.

As you say we don’t know what the publicity material for the workshop said, other than that screenshot.

One of the people leading the kids workshop and procession is the woman I posted a photo of downthread @LoobiJee

She's a woman who posts disturbing naked photos of herself online.

My questions are:

What motivation do these people have in wanting to teach children?
Would the parents be happy if their children's teachers were posting bondage photos of images of them pouring piss over themselves online?
If not, why not?
What educational benefit is this to the children?

He seems like he's a thoroughly decent chap!😁

Is she one of the RugChats group mentioned in Mr Menno’s screenshot or one of the two artists mentioned in the “Sensing The Alter Ego” workshop which is in the families section of the Tate link which Arabella posted? I clicked through from the Alter Ego workshop links and, for one of the artists, didn’t think the visuals for that artist looked particularly family friendly. It didn’t look like the same person as the photo linked above though.

I couldn’t find any information on the RugChats group in the families section of the Tate website.

Generally it wasn’t very easy to work out what the workshop would involve from the info provided by Tate.

LemonadeSunshine · 11/06/2023 23:38

If that doesn't peak a parents safeguarding instinct, I fear for them being able to identify other situations where their children may be in danger from inappropriate adult attention.

Clymene · 11/06/2023 23:43

Yes, she's one of the "artists" from rugchats. Here's some details and photos of another of the rugchats art.

So, aside from all the inappropriate elements for kids....

isn't this just shit art?

Am I a total Philistine? Because to me this looks like shit art with nothing to say and no creativity, just narcissistic bs.

There’s nothing about those two photos that makes me think, oooh, the kids will love this, what fun! And everything that makes me think a) what a load of empty, pointless bolleaux; b) these people need to get a real job; c) nobody remotely cares about you being a “queer family”, whatever on god’s earth that means, but they may call social services if this is what your home life looks like for your children.

FrancescaContini · 12/06/2023 07:38

And is “ramshackle” a quaint euphemism for “we don’t know what we’re doing and we know it looks shit but look, it’s alphabet soup art so you’ve gotta love us or you’re a bigot”?

This is the woman leading the queer parade of small children

Unsurprisingly this image stayed with me

I note the word ‘Master’ scratched on her stomach

why is it that so many of the people involved in this nonsense who actively seek to influence children are into domination and submission?

that was of course a rhetorical question

it is however baffling to watch the Tate enable them to get their jollies

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/06/2023 07:47

On the bright side, watching the video, there only seems to be 4 or 5 families actually involved. I would have expected an event to be far better attended so it looks like plenty of parents decided that it wasn't for them.

Not just you. It's artistically very stuck in foundation year at art school.

Wiccan · 12/06/2023 08:37

Well that certainly made me feel uncomfortable 🤢 . This is fucking grooming . These mothers should be fucking ashamed They are openly attempting to change the normal for kids for their own sick agendas .How the hell does a child tell a parent they are being abused when this is the everyday images they see in their lives. It looks like a scene from the Wicker Man FFS !

IcakethereforeIam · 12/06/2023 08:42
burn the witch radiohead GIF

I just looked in the Wicker Man .gif drawer and I found this! Wtaf, Trumpton took a dark path...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/06/2023 08:45

Do they do any due diligence? Or if you say you're queer, any old shit (possibly quite literally) goes?

It does look that way.
