Surprise, surprise! The non-binary division offered equal prize money to the other categories. The men’s race was won in 1:03. Womens’ race won in 1:11. Non-binary top 3 men: 1:12:05, 1:17:56, 1:19:47. 1:12:05 would be 41st in the male division, 1:17:56 would be 182. Mediocre men now get the same money as elite women by calling themselves NB.

Am I alone in beginning to think that a lot of the time, its not really about trans people? It's about the need to be seen as woke/ morally superior, have an enemy to rail against (terfs) , be part of a 'side'?

Transgender is just the current focus/ topic du jour. If something else was the 'in' issue to display moral superiority she'd be doing her little chant for that instead.

These men haven’t even changed their names - they’re literally just men. It may be better than running in the women’a category, but why should men get a whole other category? Now we have men, women’s (also men’s), and non-binary (men.) Mediocre men can choose two extra categories to win in depending on how much effort they want to put into changing their bodies/identities. Women are over in women’s where we can be beaten by men. A woman training at an elite level to be at the top of her category gets the same prize money as a man who wouldn’t be 100th in his. And of course, biological men are always faster even though people keep trying to tell us women just need to run faster and try harder.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say next year the non binary event will have more participants than the other two combined. And the year after that they'll can it.

Or it will become a joke division with a zillion genders, all with different coloured hair and always won by the Y chromosome section.

And it also reinforces the idea that sports divisions are about identity. When we accept the idea of a non-binary division we are accepting the idea that your personal identity is relevant to sports competition. We don’t have categories for “Asian women,” or “mothers” or “immigrant.” What’s relevant is your sex. These men can identify as NB and run with the men. Accepting this division is part of eroding sex-based sports by pretending your gender identity matters: it exists as a partner to pushing men into womens’ sports as well.

These are literally mediocre males collecting prize money, but no female athlete will have equal opportunity in this category because the male athletes have physical advantages.

This is now discrimination of opportunity.

It is a load of rubbish really isn’t it. There was a jokey post on twitter the other day asking if there should be some medical research into why AMAB NB’s run slower than other men as it appears there is definitely a problem.

There was a NB or the parent of a NB genuinely complaining that the AMAB non-binaries kept winning and to make it fair they should separate them into AMAB non binary and AFAB non binary.

It really is a discrimination case now. It needs to be tested. However the outcome is that there is double the opportunity for male athletes to win and win money!

I think the issue is that the non binary women mostly get to be runners up to non binary men; so they just have to suck it up and accept that for them it is just the taking part that counts, not the winning.

Also, 1:12 isn’t a globally elite time but it’s enough to get you to Olympic Trials which is a huge goal for sub-elite runners and makes you a local legend. How long before they add the NB category to marathon trials, and men can choose the women’s time standard…because if we have a third category won’t some NB take it to court arguing it’s discrimination that they are excluded from Trials?

Is there a decent chance this will piss off some men too though? Which can only be a good thing.

If I was a man in places 4-40 I'd see it as pretty shit another guy running slower than me gets first prize.

I think this will ultimately be a good thing, peaking everybody and making men suffer too.

I mean making men suffer in the sense that action will be taken when the unfairness affects them/more people. Not that they should suffer, it's unfair on the honest guys too and that's not ok.

If the discrimination law in the US is the same, then yes, it's an opportunity for women to sue. I bloody well hope they do.

What I'd really is for the women to sue, so they have to make two non-binary divisions, based on sex obviously. And then other genders to kick off, and they get themselves tied up in a knot of such wokeness, they disappear up their own virtue.

The positive I would take from this is that the women's race is at least being run by women.
Complaining that the NB category should be seperated effectively by sex is just unintended genius though! Maybe they just need to identify a bit more male to close the gap.

Well being non-binary is about denying the physical reality of sex. This race result perfectly shows that only sexist people want to deny sex reality.

An NB person seems unlikely to say it’s not fair that the AMAB NBs always win, as according to them, they aren’t of any sex and nobody NB is of any sex either, so the fact that the men win everything shouldn’t be an issue.

Meanwhile back in actual reality… for women runners (or anyone else) who think gender identity is irrelevant in physical competition, there’s a very serious problem here of discrimination against women.

Surely the gender-identity-irrelevant women can bring a legal case because regardless of anyone’s ideas about gender identity (which should be irrelevant to a running race) both sexes do get two options to compete but only men get two options to win the actual prize money. Women have just the one chance..
