WHO advice on sexuality for infants

ARticle in the Telegrpah covering the WHO guidance that has become a legal requirement in Welsh schools:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/05/13/outrage-over-who-advice-on-sexuality-for-infants/

"The advice proposes that four-to-six year olds should be taught to “talk about sexual matters” and “consolidate their gender identity”....

It recommends that children under the age of four should be told they have “the right to ask questions about sexuality” and “the right to explore gender identities”.

The WHO guidance also says that children aged four and under should be taught about “enjoyment and pleasure when touching one’s own body, early childhood masturbation”...

These topics are described as the “minimal standards that need to be covered by sexuality education”.

A government spokesperson said: “The UK Government does not recognise this WHO guidance and we don’t agree with its recommendations. We have not distributed or promoted it to schools.

“We offer our own guidance to help schools to teach children and young people about relationships and health.”

However, the WHO guidance, first published in 2010, was cited in a 2017 report commissioned by Welsh ministers entitled “Informing the Future of the Sex and Relationships Curriculum in Wales”.

The report was commissioned to “inform the development of the future Sex and Relationships (SRE) curriculum”, which became legally enforceable in Welsh schools last year, although it did not adopt all of the recommendations in the report conducted by Cardiff University.

Laura Anne Jones MS, shadow minister for education in Wales, said the WHO “needs to rescind the advice immediately”.

Ms Jones also called for the Welsh government to “distance themselves” from the “frankly disturbing” WHO guidance."

Lot more detail in the article.

Who is the WHO?
What sick idiot, or funded organisation lobbying them, is behind this?

ScrollingLeaves · 14/05/2023 00:47

enjoyment and pleasure when
touching one's own body

early childhood masturbation
discovery of own body and
own genitals

the fact that enjoyment of
physical closeness is a normal
part of everyone's life

tenderness and physical
closeness as an expression of
love and affection

different types of love
"yes" and "no" feelings

gain an awareness of gender
identity

  • talk about (un) pleasurable feelings in one's own body*
  • €express own needs, wishes
and boundaries, for example in the context of "playing doctor"

In other words make sure children have no boundaries at all, and become trained into early sexualisation by adults.

Boiledbeetle · 14/05/2023 01:03

WHO sponsored by groomers everywhere.

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 14/05/2023 01:06

I feel sick. Adults to be teaching infants how to masturbate.

Yfory · 14/05/2023 01:08

Scrollingleaves WHO = World Health Organisation.

Thank you for explaining. I had realised what the acronym stands for but would like to know who the people are in the organisation who came up with this, who has been advising them, who has been lobbying them and who has been funding the lobbying.

Butterfly44 · 14/05/2023 02:13

WTH!!! Infants!!! This is crazy.

Bosky · 14/05/2023 02:26

Existing thread here - the Telegraph article is based on the report by Safe Schools Alliance UK:

Where did PIE go? WHO and UNESCO new guidance has routes in Queer Theory, Sex Positivity and believes children are "sexual from birth"

It's all very Brave New World isn't it.

(This isn't a good thing btw.)

Ffs yes children have sexual organs and pleasurable sensations but this is not akin to adult sexuality. Don't conflate them!

MysteryBelle · 14/05/2023 02:52

Sickening. Disturbing. Evil.

I don’t understand this upside down, corrupt, ugly world and the insane lunatics who are in control of it, and of us. Scary. They are after our children.

The older I get, the more I feel like Mary Whitehouse was right on so much. This is incredibly disturbing.

Bosky · 14/05/2023 03:27

Brilliant interview with Mary Whitehouse from 1973 in two parts. Jill Tweedie is insufferably condescending and well-deserves the eye-rolls from Mary:

That's not good enough. When advice from WHO constitutes child abuse you don't just promise not to distribute it.

You name names and launch an investigation.

In an age of “Well, that’s aged well”, it is amazing to see something that has aged well.

But it also shows how malign her attackers were/are and I suppose how insidious queer theory is.

I watched the interview you posted, thank you. I had never realised how reasonable Mary Whitehouse was. Or at least she certainly was in this. She was also sharp minded and eloquent.

Jill Tweedie seemed unpleasant and rather smug.

ScrollingLeaves · 14/05/2023 10:16

I haven’t watched the third video with Mary Whitehouse, Bosky, as I am worried about signing in then as required then getting chased by an algorithm. Please would you say a few words about it if you can spare the time?

ScrollingLeaves · 14/05/2023 10:17

Sorry, that should have been to DameMaud · Today 09:41

FrictionDiction · 14/05/2023 10:23

They need to keep the word queer out of this.

This has nothing to do with LGB people and everything to do with groomers and perverts. Using "queer" as a trojan horse to sexualise children is unacceptable and hides what's really happening.

My child is not school age yet and I'm seriously considering organising my life now to allow for home-school when the time comes.

Thelnebriati · 14/05/2023 10:24

I think that every organisation needs a way they can be made accountable. Every single one of them.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 14/05/2023 10:26

have these idiots at WHO never met a child?

or, mor we worryingly, perhaps they have

Hi Scrolling. Sorry. Its showing on mine! Weird.
Yes of course. It was a BBC documentary on the Mary Whitehouse story. The youtube channel I found an episode of it on is called 'Culture Vulture' and is all documentaries about history and society.
No idea why there's a warning! Guess it's because of the subject matter in the doc. (What MW was objecting to shown in the doc?)
If worried- just search for 'Banned! The Mary Whitehouse Story' on youtube and the culture vulture channel one should come up early in the list.
The documentary is fascinating (like Bosky's interview), as there are so many parallels with what's happening now. Gave much more nuance to my perception of MW than I had just from the legend of her.

DameMaud · 14/05/2023 10:28

Wish I could find the rest of the series though!

And Mrs Thatcher was so right to ban promotion of homosexuality in schools. I can hardly believe I am writing that but look what is happening in schools.
