I agree with that, and a lot of top tier USA education is paid for by wealthy families.

Fortunately universities are prioritising social mobility outside of the US.

I'm sure that would be more difficult in cultures like the USA who want to treat it as a marriage market.

Menopause policies are the latest trend in management.

Which is not surprising as more menopausal women are in management! We are putting our issues on the agenda and getting them dealt with. This is a product of the increasing ratio of women in management. Even ten years ago when I went through it no one mentioned it, now you see it all over the place.

"However, gender is more complex than ‘men’ and ‘women’."

That is a weasel caveat that can be used to basically ignore anything you don't like when the facts are inconvenient. Want to avoid implementing an evidence-based policy ? Just say "it's more complex that that" and do fuck all. Look at the recent women-supressing voter ID laws. Not a shred of actual evidence there is a problem, but "it's more complex that that". Meanwhile got a report recommending a 15% pay rise ? Guess what ? "It's more complex than that".

Companies are bending over backwards to get equal representation and today's 40 somethings are the target for this.

at ELT level? Nah

that does not match my experience at all

from what I’ve seen the glass ceiling is alive and well

Although I’m digressing from acknowledging that what’s happening here is precisely what people predicted (and I had viewed with scepticism), namely a company using gender woo to pretend they’re not discriminating against women
