I'm so proud of you lot

My other post questioning whether mumsnet had radicalized me got deleted. But I'm still reading through these boards, and while the stories on here are just unfathomable, am I right in thinking maybe the tide is turning?

I think it's down to all of you, who were on the right side, and have kept hold of the facts, and the tweets and the reversals - you called it, and you've been calling it since the beginning.

I'm so proud of you women and how brave you've been and how long you've been fighting for.

You were right.

I hate to piss on your bonfire but beware of false dawns. A lot of people and organisations, with a huge combined amount of power, have sunk much into supporting the gender identity ideology. They've beginning to realise that they're losing control of the narrative. Expect them to put of a huge fight, they've got a great deal to lose.

IaminRome · 27/01/2023 14:20

@nauticant but they can't all come back from this?! The politicians who said it wasn't a thing, with the very real evidence on Twitter that they did say it.

The public is horrified by the rapist... Doesn't it mean not all twaw? (I.e. any)

It’s one step forward and a couple back, but better than the 100% backsliding on women’s rights we had a few years ago.

Changemaname1 · 27/01/2023 14:24

I think more people are taking note yes but I was saddened and by saddened I mean my blood was boiling to see a woman comment on a post someone had made about this on Facebook saying how sad it was the reversal of the female prison decision would set back trans rights

yes that’s the sad part of all this not the poor woman who was raped . Fml 🤦‍♀️

EndlessTea · 27/01/2023 14:24

OP it is always nice to consider how far we’ve come - and MNers are definitely amazing (otherwise that snotty little scrote wouldn’t have gone to the lengths of printing out the actual Mumsnet logo font to glue to his ‘keep mumsnet out of politics‘ placard).

I fear that Nauticant is right though. All those false dawns. It makes you weary.

But there’s reason to be hopeful I reckon 🙂

IaminRome · 27/01/2023 14:28

@Changemaname1 I'm just so sick of it all. These flipping men.

I'd said on my other post about how the telegraph article about Autogynephilia had been a real turning point for me. It makes sense. It makes so much sense.

The fact that this is getting out there feels like strides.

@EndlessTea I just think so many people on here have been so brave to have been saying this for so long when the tide was so much against them.

I'm just full of admiration

Like others said @IaminRome we've definitely come a long way and there's much to be hopeful for, but people have been involved in the struggle over this for years tend to temper the optimism when the major wins come along.

However, the turn around from Sturgeon's triumph in forcing through the GRR Bill in a massive hurry to this week is a cause for celebration.

mrshoho · 27/01/2023 14:35

👏👏👏👏

Small steps that at least gives us a voice and that every day many more people are becoming aware. The changes in media reporting, the politicians back peddling, the relentless campaigning of so many brave women are coming together.

AND it's a Friday.

I'll grudgingly admit that it is Friday.

But Friday is the start of the end of the weekend.

Agree. There was a pretty big fuss about David Thompson (Karen White) who - unlike Adam Graham - actually succeeded in raping female prisoners. And yet here we are.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 27/01/2023 15:09

The important thing is that almost everyone is talking about this now. Before, it was just a few people on MN and Twitter.

I am so pleased that NS pushed that bill through. That got the ball rolling, but the case of the rapist has really put it in the public domain.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 27/01/2023 15:13

Really important to get a sense of optimism OP - thank you.
This has all been a complete disaster for woman and even more so for children being groomed left right and centre into believing their bodies are wrong and need fixing.
The sense of outrage will ease off, but given the continued stream of male sex offenders claiming to be women and other outrages, I'm not sure this can ever be hidden again?

AlisonDonut · 27/01/2023 15:26

So many times the tide looked as if it was to turn and so many times, the rage of the activists seem to bite the people who pushed back and turn them into wimpering puppies desperate for a pat on the head.

However this does feel like the biggest wave. Lets hope people cling on until the tsunami washes over us and we start to rebuild with actual risk assessments and mitigations that mean something.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/01/2023 15:32

I think the biggest difference this time is the public are now far more aware of what is happening, especially with the shit show going on with Sturgeon's ridiculous bill.

People also seem far less afraid to call out the bullshit.

catandcoffee · 27/01/2023 15:32

I agree OP.
you amazing Women have kept up this fight for so long.

I'd like to think there's many lurkers who've read this board and learnt so much.

The tide is turning.

👏

GrimDamnFanjo · 27/01/2023 15:41

Slow slow progress. But I cheered up no end after the Bill got people talking.
It's been like this for ages but we chip away and something happens.
I'd love to see a timeline over the last few years of breakthroughs.

That's a good idea.

I don’t want to rain on everyone’s parade but please watch this clip in which a young female journalist calls the Scottish double rapist ‘she’, aggressively so. Until these women change their minds, or are removed from positions of influence, we can’t win.

Linkedin says she (Ava Evans / Ava Santina) is a journalist with a BA in English from Sussex Uni, she must be in her mid-late twenties.

Personally, I just want to tell her to stop spouting such absolute horseshit - I’ve lost my patience - but that’s hardly going to convince her …

ArabellaScott · 27/01/2023 15:58

'her penis'.

JanieAllen · 27/01/2023 16:47
