My other post questioning whether mumsnet had radicalized me got deleted. But I'm still reading through these boards, and while the stories on here are just unfathomable, am I right in thinking maybe the tide is turning?

I think it's down to all of you, who were on the right side, and have kept hold of the facts, and the tweets and the reversals - you called it, and you've been calling it since the beginning.

I'm so proud of you women and how brave you've been and how long you've been fighting for.

You were right.

One day when this madness has passed we are going to have the biggest drunken dancing party with wine, gin & weetabix 😁

Weetabix is useful for scrubbing burned-in crud from pots. But the gin would be nice. I haven't had a martini for years...

The tide may be turning in the UK? Not sure, but not in most countries.

It's fascinating to see this one social justice movement move so fast, compared to gay and Lesbian rights and, of course, women's rights (unfinished business there, set aside now). Compare a decade or less with, say, fifty years (for gays and Lesbians) and with centuries for women. Fascinating, that difference.

The trans movement has the ear (and perhaps the purse) of governments in many countries, and it appears very well funded. Interesting to think of the reasons why this difference exists.

I briefly came into contact with a SNP MSP today and in the few seconds we were alone I said ‘Women won’t wheesht’ to them. My heart was knocking in my chest afterwards but I would never have spoken up if it wasn’t for these threads. It’s just small moment of rebellion and won’t make any difference but if more people do it ..it will

nauticant · 27/01/2023 19:34

No comment @Rheia1983!!!!

I think the rapist incarcerated with women might just be the wedge issue - at a key time, to make enough people stop and think for a minute..
They're certainly not the first or the only, but it's been very timely. The photographer who took that photo deserves a gin or two.
If TWAW except when they're not...then the mantra fails.

Love this. I'm also becoming braver.
We are making a difference.

How did they react?! Thanks

tothesea · 27/01/2023 20:23

Thank you! The opportunity presented itself so
I took it but it has made me a bit braver for next time. As long as they haven’t made a complaint to my employer!

tothesea · 27/01/2023 20:26

They said ‘Sorry’ the first time so I repeated it louder ‘Women. Won’t . Wheesht’. They just went ‘Oh right’ and then they were gone.

littlbrowndog · 27/01/2023 20:28

Keep going keep going

it’s all over Scotland. On every major broadcaster. People are waking up

the girls at Ayrshire college who got undressed in front of the rapist

stv covered it. And had a big interview with her how she felt so awful that this creep was allowed into her class

it really is not going away. Scottish people are talking about this.

UWhatNow · 27/01/2023 20:31

Having to use a stinky ‘gender neutral’ toilet today after a bloke had used it today makes me think that we’ve sadly, already lost.

In schools and universities this ideology that TWAW is simply accepted now. Our daughters will have to rediscover their own 70s type feminism when the scales fall off their eyes in 10-20 years.

Willing to trade my share of the Weetabix for someone else's gin <helpful>

Done. I prefer weetabix as long as it has cold, full fat milk but my gin will be designed so top quality.

I hate to piss on your bonfire but beware of false dawns. A lot of people and organisations, with a huge combined amount of power, have sunk much into supporting the gender identity ideology. They've beginning to realise that they're losing control of the narrative. Expect them to put of a huge fight, they've got a great deal to lose.

True, but this particular shitshow has woken up a few more members of the public. An astonishing number of people still think TW means post-op. Having the evidence presented to them framed in pink Lycra means they are literally seeing that isn’t the case.
And I’m encouraged by the number of employers who are abandoning the Stonewall scheme.

JaninaDuszejko · 27/01/2023 21:08

I've not seen that Ricky Gervais clip before @ArabellaScott , I think the most amazing thing is the audience reaction, everyone is laughing and cheering. The tide has turned without a doubt, or rather everyone now knows about the issue whereas it was the case for a long time that nobody did. I remember years ago having a conversation about trans women in female prisons and my sister denying it ever happened and now it's over all the papers. #radicalised by MN #came for the babies, stayed for the feminism

PizzaNinja · 27/01/2023 21:36

What does ‘wheesht’ actually mean?

I’ve been lurking for a while, mostly I don’t feel I can be as articulate with my thoughts as the fantastic, knowledgeable women here. But the tide is definitely turning. We’re winning some battles now, but there’s still a war to be fought.

Yes, I have had two TRA acquaintances in the last few days send around notices to target upcoming feminist meetings by writing to the venues to complain etc — the tone is panicky but the entitlement is still off the charts.

Wheesht is the Scots word for be quiet. Your granny would say it to you if you were being noisy - 'will you wheesht!'

The women in Scotland are saying that we won't be quiet. Not for Indy or any other reason.

It's lovely to hear so many voices and I hope that Scotland will turn out to be really instrumental. I was sort of panicking about Scotland, but actually maybe it will be fortuitous timing.

I appreciate that there will be lots more step backs, but I'm starting to think it won't be our daughters fighting this in years to come, as there are brave women doing so much fight now.

I love that @JaninaDuszejko I also came for the babies stay for the feminism 😂
