Also interesting to read the forum post about this on letsrun www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=11612967

Well, it's quite simple, isn't it. You have a non-binary AFAB category, and a non-binary AMAB category.

Sorted!

😉

I think it is positive to have non binary categories - ideally separated by natal sex. The reason is because some people who are in these categories might be on cross sex hormones and testosterone reduction.

Why not give people a space to compete and participate fairly in sport? - they will be competing with people with similar biological profiles to themselves - which is more fair (than them competing in female or male sex categories) and also may be healthier. It would not push transwomen to reduce their testosterone below a level that is healthy for them. And it is a fair way for transmen to compete - as they may have artificially added testosterone.

So: categories for women, men, and drugging?

FrancescaContini · 10/11/2022 00:50

I met Mara years ago (she won’t remember me). Lovely woman. Good article.

Anyone can do this by competing in their own sex category.

So let’s break this down:

Males who declares a non-binary identity who do nothing with their bodies should have their own category to compete against each other and if they win that category they win just as much prize money as those winning males who don’t declare a non-binary identity? Even if they’re nowhere near as good?

How is it fair that a potentially mediocre male gets to be just as successful in terms of podiums and prizes because of their inner feels?

And what’s to stop a male who might be really really good, but maybe is always 4th or 5th, deciding that they’re going to be non-binary from now on?

And females:

Women can slog their guts out against each other for prizes and podium places, but a female enhancing her performance with drugs gets to win prizes and podium places because of inner feels?

What’s to stop a doping female athlete claiming a non-binary identity in order to be successful? All those doping Kenyan women being caught at the moment could claim they have a legitimate use of Letrozole, a drug that decreases oestrogen production, because it helps them be more non-binary.

It’s just all nonsense.

That is an excellent article. Really clearly points out the absurdity and discrimination.

Id this kept males out of the women's race it would be a price worth paying but it won't as it just reinforces the bizarre idea that belief trumps. biology

KatMcBundleFace · 15/11/2022 12:02

Oh look - I'm pretty sure I can guess which sex walked off with the 5k prize money....

Obviously you can't tell from just a name, but these ones are rather masculine..... until we get to Erin

Isn't it MARVELOUS that actual sex is "hidden", so we won't ever have the data to analyse which sex dominates non binary events.

Just a reminder of this entertaining previous thread on The non-binary category in the Boston marathon

Nice clear article, thanks for sharing OP. Sport is making the differences very visible. Good to see - let's just focus on a wider acceptance of gender presentation and keep sport single sex

Non Binary; the brand name that creates a new double binary and more ways to win at life!

Basically how to make friends and influence people.

Yuppie for the 21st century.
