In many ways I’m hoping my eldest decides not to go to uni. She just got all 8/9 grades at gcse and I feel she could study anything she wanted, but all universities seem awful now.
I feel so sad for our youth.

Feckedupbundle · 09/09/2022 22:31

It is our closest university. My Dd1 reacted with horror at the thought of going there and wouldn't even consider it. Dd2 doesn't want to go to uni,so perhaps they've dodged a bullet there?

JanieAllen · 09/09/2022 23:42

they seem to be hiding messages my why join a lesphobic homophobic org with nancy kelley at the helm seems to be invisible....

It is unfortunately to be expected considering it is a high profile sports research university at the forefront of transgender sport research. I would expect the pressure to remain loyal to Stonewall would be huge so Harper can do more research and speaking engagements.

KittenKong · 10/09/2022 09:01

Yup hiding comments. Diversity my backside…

Musomama1 · 11/09/2022 08:26

They have one of the UKs leading sports science facilities. Not only do they keep very quiet about men competing in women's sports, but they are all out Stonewall champions.

I find that utterly hypocritical and deeply mysogynistic. Any Loughborough lecturers in sport care to defend their position? It's no thanks to you that women are protecting sport, what is the point of you? Sorry, this makes me so angry.

Helleofabore · 11/09/2022 08:44

Musomama1

Harper is at Loughborough. They obviously want to be seen as ‘the’ experts on the issue.

FemaleAndLearning · 11/09/2022 09:02

'Experts' indeed let's prove we are right with the one subject we have. Honestly I don't care if the research does show what they want and that men taking drug are the same competive level as women. It is morally wrong, unethical and needs to stop. Who is finding Harper's PhD?

JanieAllen · 11/09/2022 10:59

I hear that Loughborogh are getting a drubbing on the twit!

I hope the new cohort of students have grown up enough to challenge them.

Bunpea · 07/10/2022 19:10

Very disappointed to have found out all this stuff… not only Stonewall but especially the support and engagement the university has with the Mermaids so-called charity.

The university has lost its way. All that excellence in the fields of engineering, technology, science and sports science, that took so much work to establish, is being eclipsed by this.

Don’t let your kids go there. It sounds unsafe.

1smallhamsterfoot · 07/10/2022 19:15

It’s incredibly unsafe for anyone to go there. Students get raped and they cover it up.

NameChange232 · 07/10/2022 19:16

I live in Loughborough but study at Sutton Bonington with notts uni. My partner studies at Loughborough Can someone explain in more detail to me all of what Loughborough has done?

Empowermenomore · 07/10/2022 20:17

Not the only one. Isn’t Exeter got a gold star at Stonewall?

kimlek · 28/01/2023 18:49

Is this still an issue? It’s on DDs list but if stonewall have a presence she’ll not want it. Are Bath and York ok? She’d prefer a decent Fem Soc!

JanieAllen · 28/01/2023 19:05

I have a mole in the uni still appalling but there is hope with some new high up staff things might improve

OP posts:
kimlek · 28/01/2023 21:12

Mmm… it’s not something she’d considered. How do we find out about this at other universities?

I just found the well known university in the city where I live …………….
is very proud to be a Stonewall Champion.

I found this out by typing in the university’s name/Stonewall.

Definitely don’t send your child to anywhere that’s one of these champions.

Crozzlypocket · 29/01/2023 08:05

I've just googled my local university who are 'out and proud' koolaiders. I also stumbled upon some FOI requests to the university that the answers to are horrifying. The amount of money they're chucking at this stuff is beyond belief, and they're also very cagey and dodge having to answer pertinent FOI requests with fluff about 'balancing harm' that may come from the information being publicly shared. How can this possibly be right?!

Crozzlypocket · 29/01/2023 08:10

They also link mermaids on their website too. Fucking hell. The stupidity runs deep!

Needmoresleep · 29/01/2023 08:23

The more questions asked the better, whether from prospective applicants, donors, alumni, or anyone.

AFAIK Only UCL and LSE have dropped Stonewall, though others may never have joined. I hear, second hand that the LSE decision was both based on staff concerns about academic freedom, but also because it appears that donors share those concerns. The old go woke, go broke.

(Just a thought but do Loughborough, as our leading sports science university receive donations from firms or funds with a stake in promoting transwomen’s participation in women’s sport?)

Sex Matters had a campaign to send FOIs to public authorities about their dealings with stonewall back in 2021. They also had a list of stonewall champions but I don't think Stonewall have released an updated list.
Go to What do they know website and search for "dealings with stonewall" or search for the university you are interested in.

Or you could put in a new request to any university - you can copy the wording of the other requests or do your own.

www.whatdotheyknow.com/search/Dealings%20with%20stonewall/all?page=2&query=Dealings+with+stonewall

FannyCann · 29/01/2023 08:29

Also it's worth looking at the EDI policies at the university of choice. Can take a bit of a dig around their website but I identified that DD's uni lists Gender not Sex as a protected characteristic and put them right on that. (Lots do and so do quite a few hospitals).

FrancescaContini · 29/01/2023 08:29

Thanks for letting us know, @JanieAllen . Another one to cross off any potential list.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 29/01/2023 08:32

Loughborough university that are hosting Joanna harpers completely objective totally non biased examination of whether Emily bridge’s performance level has dropped due to their transition? That Loughborough is a paid up member and cheerleader of stonewall? You stun me!
