The meaning of women shaking their heads has changed

Powerful blog from Steph today.

"She then touched on general LGBT+ issues and totally out of the blue, said, "trans women are women, & trans men are men."

And to my amazement, virtually all the women in the audience shook their heads in agreement..

Do you have the link to the blog for those of us not on Twitter?

Helleofabore · 21/07/2022 11:57

Ahhh. They are having a great day! They also tweeted that despite Semenya’s medical condition clearly pointed out in Sean Ingle’s article, that Coe’s statement will lead to ‘natal females’ being excluded from sport.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 21/07/2022 12:03

I don't think the women in the audience meant what Steph thought they meant Grin

knittingaddict · 21/07/2022 12:12

In the US? They frequently use shake instead of nod on the US podcasts I listen to.

knittingaddict · 21/07/2022 12:15

Just seen that this is a person from the UK. No idea what they mean then. They did indeed shake their heads and meant no and Steph is misrepresenting? Steph is writing for a US audience and used US language? No idea.

I'm not on twitter but can see the tweet here: nitter.net/PlaceSteph/status/1549689722380984320#m
It includes a link to the blog but the blog itself has "nodded" instead of "shaken". I guess it's been edited.

*shook

Steph is in the U.K. I think.

knittingaddict · 21/07/2022 12:21

OK, I've just checked out the blog and it said "nod" not "shake, so the Twitter post is wrongly written. By someone from the US? As to whether it really happened or not? Who knows, but it sounds doubtful.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/07/2022 12:21

I expect there was a standing ovation too.

hallouminatus · 21/07/2022 12:22

Don't think this is particularly significant - it just amused me .

And then everyone gathered in the toilets to discuss what shade of lipstick they were wearing and spontaneously offer tampons all round.

CrossStichQueen · 21/07/2022 12:44

Is it Steph from Stephs place?

If so that one is a special little character.

knittingaddict · 21/07/2022 12:44

So what were the replies or was it an echo chamber?

There must be women who were there who could confirm or deny.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 21/07/2022 12:57

Ahahahaha. One of the Freudian slips that TRAs experience bizarrely often.

They KNOW. They deceive themselves, but they know.

TinselAngel · 21/07/2022 13:05

Ah Steph who hates me so much Steph wrote a whole blog piece about it.

TinselAngel · 21/07/2022 13:06

I am amused that Steph is tweeting that Steph wrote a powerful blog.

Tinsel agrees.

And then they all wore pyjamas and had a pillow fight.

How lovely.

Thank you I could access the blog from that link here it is www.stephsplace.uk/the-womens-network-event.cfm

Having a good old gossip in the car with the natal female! Also seemed a bit classist to me:

"But what I witnessed at this up-market women's networking event was extraordinary, and it is something I will never forget."

Are all other women's meeting down market?

Do we know anyone else at that meeting?

I read some if the other blogs and the we are all born as female templates is used to explain being trans oh and if the mother suffers stress during pregnancy it can be her fault if the child is trans.

PearlClutch · 21/07/2022 16:39

Well, someone needs to give their head a wobble, nod, or shake.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/07/2022 17:17

Is Steph a brand? It used to just be a 60 year old person who looked better in a tailored dress than I do, what with my messy post natal body refusing to co operate.

I had a look - it's now four of them but I'm not sure what they are doing? It's not a support forum, doesn't seem to be campaigning for anything, no proper links or resources apart from to a nice nail place.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 21/07/2022 17:48

They campaign against FiLia conferences as far as I recall.

Was that audiences name Albert Einstein?
