In the light of the Divine Miss M and Macy Gray nailing their colours to the GC mast, which global celebrity , if they did similar would really give Bloko Harem a fit of the vapours?

Yes beamur RuPaul got the treatment years ago for saying Drag Race was only for male contestants. I think some contestants chose to pause their transitions to go on the show in the early seasons.

The show had to move with the times and expand the bandwidth in the end but there's plenty that still call him a transphobe.

(sorry about going off topic)
I'd like to see how drag queens who call themselves men would get on if they tried to join the Miss International Queen Pageant- I'd give them better odds than women. Not that I think there are many women who would want to enter, or would complain about an exclusively trans identified male event.

Also, agree with above posters that it would be fabulous if Taylor Swift got onboard, she seems so intelligent and gutsy, such a shame she also seems to prefer kindness at women's expense to doing everything we can to protect our daughters.

Even if the penny drops for Emma Watson, she doesn't seem like one who would speak up about it (she's no Hermione Granger, even if she appears to think she is).

Recent seasons of drag race have included a transman, a straight man and a woman (all performing as drag queens) so I think after Ru started accepting transwomen the floodgates were pretty open. I don't think there was much of a backlash with the 'bio-queen' (the female contestant) but interestingly they don't call transwomen bio queens. Almost like they know 😂 there was a backlash on twitter for including the straight guy though. The usual mob said he was taking the spot of a more deserving candidate that the show actually caters for (the irony must be lost on them).

Dolly Parton

Agree.

I love Taylor swift but as people have already said, she's defo already nailed her colours to the trans mast so won't double back now. I've gotten the impression she has major guilt for not speaking out against homophobia when she was purely a country music star trying to court Christians & republicans so now has went the total opposite way but including the 'T'.

Emma Watson is a lost cause and I personally wouldn't want her anyway. The 'I'm for all the witches, apart from one' comment just totally exposed her as quite happy to throw women under the bus for men. Who needs her.

Think Macy Gray is backtracking

ThickCutSteakChips · 05/07/2022 20:01

Yep, MG is backtracking. Thought it would be Bette first to be honest!

JoodyBlue · 05/07/2022 20:27

Sad that MG is backtracking. I would love to hear Chrissie Hynde say something on the matter.

Even if they do, it will make a point. The sheer level of vitriol for stating a basic truth will make a few beeekiiind types sit up.

Although even if they do, the TRAs will never forgive them. Might as well double down.

Shows, once again, the fucking guts and integrity of Joanne Rowling, Rosie Duffield, Martina and others, who faced it down and didn't blink.

I don’t know for sure about Rosie Duffield but Martina and JKR both did blink the first time!

And we know they are tough, principled women, not easily bullied. I can’t imagine what it must be like when you first face it to have made them both back down.

You're right, of course. And I wasn't meaning a dig at Macy Gray - just extra appreciation for those still standing up to the onslaught.

I hope MG's got support.

GrinitchSpinach · 05/07/2022 21:37

In the US context, I think it would take a young black or mixed-race woman. Everyone else the TRAs will dismiss instantly as a dried-up white bigot racist Karen. I nominate Rihanna.
