In the light of the Divine Miss M and Macy Gray nailing their colours to the GC mast, which global celebrity , if they did similar would really give Bloko Harem a fit of the vapours?

OP posts:
CosmopolitanPlease · 05/07/2022 08:07

Or Zendaya and Tom Holland! Can you imagine Grin

RicherThanYew · 05/07/2022 08:10

I think Emma Thompson is very TWAW isnt she? Would be seriously wtf happened there if she saw sense.

WinterTrees · 05/07/2022 08:12

I said to my daughter (GC, mid-20s now and Taylor Swift fan since she was a tween) that TS MUST get it - I can't believe a woman as intelligent and insightful and feminist as she is doesn't. But dd sadly pointed out that she's done some dodgy collaborations with a few rainbow flag people and positioned herself as an ally so it's unlikely we'll see any outright support of women from that quarter. Such a damn shame. I live in hope though.

Beowulfa · 05/07/2022 08:22

I'm afraid it would have to be a male voice:

-a blokey bloke's bloke like Freddie Flintoff or Phil "The Power" Taylor
-a National Treasure like David Attenborough
-someone with a large overdraft of cool in the bank like Stormzy

teawamutu · 05/07/2022 08:27

Pink tweeted something positive about Martina Navratilova being at her concert, right after Martina went full Terven.

Madonna recently went to a Dave Chapelle show.

Neither apologised.

Very very TWAW, and completely sanctimonious with it!
Emma Watson? But she'd only be doing it for the attention I'd imagine, given she's been the most publicly condemning JKR.....

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 05/07/2022 08:34

No - the vast majority of KJ's following don't give a shit about identity politics, its just not their tribe. She would get a bit of crap because of who her father is, but I don't think it would cause shock waves.

oh, I wasn’t thinking about how her fans would react but more about how the politically minded TRAs would react. I think Jenner would be very damaging to them because she reaches people who don’t care about this stuff!

Musomama1 · 05/07/2022 08:46

Actually if Emma Watson ever snapped out of it that'd really make an impact on the kids.

Bette Midler getting a load of old and doesn't understand schtick despite being on the left, progressive, gay rights ally and living through the palpable sexism of the 1970s.

I'd listen to her in a heartbeat over some groomed TRA teen or 20-something.

RoyalCorgi · 05/07/2022 08:49

Emma Watson or Daniel Radcliffe.

continueorterminate · 05/07/2022 08:55

I so want P!nk to come out. Her acceptance speech about her daughter being called ugly was heavily hinting towards it. The one where she talked about androgynous popstars being awesome. She's a fierce feminist, I'm waiting for her to clear up this matter for everyone

musicalfrog · 05/07/2022 08:56

Honestly the only ones that would really make a difference are probably the Labour leadership.

teawamutu · 05/07/2022 09:00

Billie Eilish would be seismic. Although chances are about zero, I'd say.

NotBadConsidering · 05/07/2022 09:06

I don’t think Emma Watson would have any impact at all. The only reason she remains prominent in the eyes of young people is precisely because she vocally opposes JKR. Without that, she would just be dismissed, piled on, then thrown on the scrap heap. Madonna will “come out” eventually and be dismissed as old. Same with Emma Thompson. Cher has a trans child so if there was a reversal there it would be pretty remarkable.

Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé. Almost 200m followers between them.

WarriorN · 05/07/2022 09:23

Lady Gaga. I think she must get it.

Billie E would be seismic- her far to early age experiences with porn must have opened her eyes.

Harry Styles is re working what all the Bowie types did years ago. Just getting on with it.

This is quite important, except the tag "accept them as they are" gets ram railed into "pump them full of puberty blockers." Harleston schoolboy gets 7m views on Twitter for prom dress www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-62041127

WolverineBluey · 05/07/2022 09:24

Yes beamur RuPaul got the treatment years ago for saying Drag Race was only for male contestants. I think some contestants chose to pause their transitions to go on the show in the early seasons.

The show had to move with the times and expand the bandwidth in the end but there's plenty that still call him a transphobe.

WarriorN · 05/07/2022 09:26

I think any big American female celeb who tweets about women without the ads ons (eg all women etc) is tipping their hat.

Macy was v v gracious and polite. She gently and assertively pointed out that she has no idea what it is to be a trans woman. She grew up a girl. And that goes both ways. Surgery changes nothing.

Bette is important as she's clearly very on the left, lots of anti gun law campaigning especially after the awful events of yesterday. Hopefully it will start to break down that binary left right bs.

NotBadConsidering · 05/07/2022 09:28

Someone should point out to RuPaul that the way things are going, after he’s died TRAs will decide he was always trans, like Marsha P Johnson. See if that shakes his tree a bit.

WarriorN · 05/07/2022 09:31

I think Macy Gray's twitter followers have doubled over night.

RudsyFarmer · 05/07/2022 09:38

It would take someone already financially set like Beyoncé. Why would they though? So much of the revenue for these entertainers come from the rainbow dollar. Who would shoot themselves in the foot like that when you can just stay silent.

Is the boy gay not trans? Wearing clothes outside the gender stereotypes should be applauded but if it about transition and clothes then that is just pandering to sexist stereotypes.

KatVonlabonk · 05/07/2022 09:39

I enjoyed the Ru Paul drama.
He was like: "drag is about men dressing up as women, and, of course, transwomen are women.... so it's like cheating, with all your titty skittles etc"

They were like: "OH MY GOD YOU TRANSPHOBIC BIGOT, HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST WE CAN'T DO WHAT WE WANT TO 100% OF THE TIME"

So hopefully this will open up the "art form" for more actual women to be involved. Which has also started to happen and is already causing histrionics.

Bless em all

WarriorN · 05/07/2022 09:53

Doesn't mention his sexuality, appropriately. Calls him a he. As it should be to make the point that you can wear what you want. But it doesn't change your sex.

WarriorN · 05/07/2022 09:56

My point is the phrase "you should accept your child as they are" has more recently been "fill them full of cross sex hormones and lie to them."

If we truly accept them as they are, they remain a boy who can wear the dress.

And it's not OTT sexual, that's the other issue with all this - it's a really smart, clever, bold outfit.

Winterlight · 05/07/2022 11:17

Dolly Parton

FunnyTalks · 05/07/2022 11:20

RuPaul also once said something along the lines of "we're born naked, everything else is drag". ie it's all culture, stereotypes, etc. Not innate. I agree.
