Catgender: 'where someone feels that the closest way to describe their gender identity is by making the equation to a cat in particular, cats in general, or by comparing their gender identity to certain cat-like features.'

I found out today there is a range of subtypes, including

Meowgender: 'people who feel strongly connected to older and/or full-grown cats. Meowgender people have various reasons for relating to older cats, such as personality, behaviour, or aesthetics.'

Presumably the subtypes share an impulse to disrupt events held by cisfelines (those born as cats), and demand equal access to litter trays.

What about those of us who are dog people?

You can be dog gender. Pronouns woof/doggo.

But stay out of our cat spaces. Cats need dog free safe spaces.

But - and I know none of this makes sense and I am picking further holes in a giant sponge of nonsense - CATS DON'T HAVE DIFFERENT PRONOUNS.

We have three female cats and they are all referred to as she/her.

The wilful self obsession of this is just relentless.

How do you know? Did you ask them?

This right here is my identity.

I like sleeping in the sun, eating and being stroked.

I won't pretend to like you just to be kind.

FrippEnos · 28/06/2022 17:12

So what happens in a classroom when a "catgender" meets a "doggender"?

Other than complete chaos.

Ormally · 28/06/2022 17:45

Previous respected sources would suggest it's more complicated?
Mystique, not conformity.

Ha! Me too.

And I can happily do all of those while identifying as a human being.

Does anyone else think Dennis the tiger also has some breasts and is wearing a bra as he silently but slowly and unsteadily stalks his way around the hardware store?

Yes! I spotted that too.

Makes me wonder if Dennis the tiger might not be the regular, everyday bloke he first appears to be.

I don't do LOLs, but that deserves one!

Braggiography · 29/06/2022 20:47

Dennis identified as a tigress, I believe.

I watched a documentary about this man years ago. He had breast growth as a side affect of a health condition with low testosterone levels. I can't remember the exact details, but I didn't get the feeling that he wanted breasts, or wanted to appear feminine.
As far as I can remember he didn't ask to be called "she".

His attempts to surgically make his face more feline do have the effect of making it look more female (or like a Kardashian stereotype of a woman's face) which is unsettling.

Bergamotte · 29/06/2022 21:36

The documentary featured two other people as well. One man who had had tattoos etc to look lizard-like.
And a man who identified as a leopard. He'd had the markings tattooed all over his skin and lived on Skye. There was footage of him running around almost naked and getting down on all fours to lap water out of a stream. It was clear that he wanted to be seen as a wild beast, but he can't actually have been hunting wild animals for food.
It looked very chilly.

They're not really cats, just strategizing to get access to lesbians' pussies. Breaking through the kitten ceiling?!

I love these threads.

I'm definitely catgender. I get gender dysphoria every day when I have to get up in the morning.

You might want to get this thread moved to The Litter Tray, op.

SoManyQuestionsHere · 27/06/2022 19:01

Yeah, I'm definitely something feline gender (though I'll have to give a little more thought to the meowgender vs cat gender distinction).

Did you know that over 40% of domestic cat (felis catus) sleep more than 18 hours a day? Also, I've always wanted to curl up in a ball and fall asleep wherever I currently happen to be.

Not to mention the "getting away with hissing and scratching people because they pass me the fuck off!"

I very strongly identify with all of the above.

I identify with the above, but also liking some human attention but only on my terms. I need time alone, a need which I share with the family cat. I've also noticed that she gets food on demand.

I may have to try identifying as something I'm clearly not, especially as it seems to result in gullible people bowing and scraping to pander to their delusions.

Is it not time to treat such declarations with the contempt they deserve instead of pandering to such ridiculous nonsense?

TheBiologyStupid · 30/06/2022 01:37

Pandaing is a whole other thing, AnotherDay...

IndigoC · 30/06/2022 01:41

This reminds me of the time a woman got up at a Michigan Board of Education meeting to decry the fact that at least one high school in the district had installed kitty litter trays in the toilets for the kids that identified as cats.

(Turned out she was wrong but the video is still hilarious 😂)
