On Politicäs Live yesterday. Challenged on what a woman is, she said that a woman is an adult human female ... CHEERS! ... and some are born and some become women ... BANGS HEAD ON DESK!

(around 26.30)

We have to operate on the basis that any politician like Creasy, Nandy, Rayner, Sobel etc., no matter how they moderate things they have said in the past to try to cleverly placate us, they believe a male person can become a woman and they believe that should make them indistinguishable from a natal female. That’s their belief. They have a right to it.

I also believe it makes them unsuitable to represent the wider public. They have a prior commitment.

These days I am permanently disappointed, especially when clever women I admire (or did) like Creasey show themselves to be somewhat less admirable.

tabbycatstripy · 01/04/2022 16:03

Corruptio optimi pessima.

NancyDrawed · 01/04/2022 16:05

Mr Menno was in the chat of KJK's video yesterday and he said they should be asked 'What is a Transwoman?'

Do you think anyone would go there?

This. Leopards and spots.
nauticant · 01/04/2022 17:02

Shouldn't the full paraphrasing be:

Some are born women, some achieve womanhood, and some have womanhood thrust upon them.

AlisonDonut · 01/04/2022 17:06

I mean we are getting closer...a few weeks back that would have been unthinkable.

Artichokeleaves · 01/04/2022 17:26

Some women are born women, some women achieve womenhood and some women have womenhood thrust upon them, eh?

I'm finding myself increasingly just muttering 'now you're just being silly' and walking away... you can't talk to someone being this daft.

Cwenthryth · 01/04/2022 17:39

Yeah. The best bit was when asked for clarification, she declines saying “some people want titillation”. Yeah. We’re all perverts.

ThatsNotItAtAll · 01/04/2022 17:43

Outside the realm of Greek mythology, who exactly was born a woman - defined as an adult human female? 🤯

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/04/2022 18:08

Yeah. The best bit was when asked for clarification, she declines saying “some people want titillation”. Yeah. We’re all perverts.

Straight from the TRA playbook.

FOJN · 01/04/2022 18:48

How do you become an adult human female without being born a human female? A human male can become a transwomen but he can never become an adult human female.

It's the assumption we're stupid which leaves me screaming FUCK OFF.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/04/2022 18:53

It's a bad faith reading of Simone de Beauvoir, I think.

SquishySquirmy · 01/04/2022 18:59

No one is born a woman though, surely?
Female children aren't women!
Did she really say that straight after "women are adult human females" ???
Not just confused about the meaning of the word "woman" but confused about the meaning of the word "adult" too!

ThatsNotItAtAll · 01/04/2022 19:07

All humans are born, and all girl babies who survive to adulthood become women - maybe that's what she meant...

Billi77 · 01/04/2022 21:36

Stella Creasey has met trans people. I suggest you do the same

Theeyeballsinthefuckingsky · 01/04/2022 21:39

Time was we had a better class of troll…..

MrsOvertonsWindow · 01/04/2022 21:40

Now you're being silly Billi.

WelcomeMarch · 01/04/2022 21:43

Why on earth would you assume we haven’t met any trans people? We just know they cannot change sex, only whatever they personally mean by gender.

PermanentTemporary · 01/04/2022 21:46

Odd that you would assume i haven't, Billi. Just paid a friend for some DIY he did as a favour - he transitioned a few months ago.

Stella Creasy studied at a college which only admitted women ten years before she went there. She was admirably tough on access to abortion for women in Northern Ireland. She forced through provision for maternity leave for herself, which was previously unheard of for MPs. She knows what a woman is. It is very interesting that a whole lot of future Cabinet ministers are suddenly trimming their sails on this. I find it quite hopeful.

mudgetastic · 01/04/2022 21:47

No one is born adult

AlisonDonut · 01/04/2022 21:55

@Billi77

You mean the people I used to work with weren't trans? Oh my. How transphobic.
LilithRises · 02/04/2022 00:22

Stella Creasy is my local MP. I have emailed a few times regarding issues pertaining to the Equality Act (sex based rights) and also my concerns about lobby groups redefining homosexuality to mean same gender rather than same sex attraction. I also wrote regarding the public consultation on banning conversion therapy, outlined my concerns, and suggested it would be a good idea to wait for the outcome of the independent Cass Report.. Unfortunately, despite being my local MP, I have not received any response or reply to date, which I find somewhat disappointing to say the least

This.

But they have also shown themselves to be dogmatic and unable to support my right not to share their faith. And that I cannot accept.

I do not mind whether my party MP is Muslim, Christian, or Baha'i, but she or he must be able to represent me as an atheist voter if I complain that a faith is being forced on me.

Redshoeblueshoe · 02/04/2022 00:58

Theeyeball you are correct and clearly have a great memory Grin
