Stonewall is selling anti-terf training

It seems a bit like Wile.E. Coyote selling anti Road Runner training, but I guess they'll keep on grifting till their last gasp.

Isn't this discrimination?

I can only think they've read some mild-mannered commentary from women who were wondering quite why there were so many items opposed to second wave feminism in the Unfinished Business exhibition.

There were so many exhibits and none of them addressed the opposition to the erasure of women as a sex class. Reading that piece, it's obvious why.

Will it take several decades for the BL to put up an exhibition about this period in history when they colluded in the erasure of a sex class that has a protected characteristic?

BootsAndRoots · 25/03/2022 15:30

Stonewall is a money making business, and like all businesses they need to keep their profits going.

There was nothing left to fight for with gay rights, they knew transsexual equality already existed, so they're fighting for self-ID.

You know that they secretly love so-called TERFs because they charge £1.5k for each training session.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 25/03/2022 15:33

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?

CompleteGinasaur · 25/03/2022 15:35

Grifters gonna grift..

FannyCann · 25/03/2022 15:39

Isn't that a hate crime? Or at least promoting discrimination.

EishetChayil · 25/03/2022 15:50

They're clearly clutching at straws now. Establishments are leaving Stonewall like rats off a sinking ship.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/03/2022 17:24

As she points out, how are GC feminist protests any different to any other kind? What particular expertise are Stonewall thought to have on dealing with protests?

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 25/03/2022 17:41

Has it occurred to these companies hiring Stonewall that gender critical beliefs are legally protected - so no, it’s not ok to ask a woman in an AHF top to do her jacket up?

AlisonDonut · 25/03/2022 17:44

I can sense a meeting in the British Library coming up. Pity I've moved countries.

doadeer · 25/03/2022 17:46

I find it strange they never give examples.

Eg what is this offensive tshirt?

If they wrote someone wore a tshirt that had a dictionary definition of a woman.... In the British Library.... Home of the English language.... What would you do? It would sound crazy!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/03/2022 17:48

I'd almost love a court case centring on the wearing of an AHF t shirt.

yourhairiswinterfire · 25/03/2022 17:50

You'd think they'd be a bit more careful with this discriminating against women shit, what with them due in court very soon, being sued by a lesbian for direct and indirect discrimination, but...

DomesticatedZombie · 25/03/2022 17:52

Wink

I wonder what would actually happen if someone wore an AHF shirt in the BM?

Oh really? How unsurprising.

Only one way to find out, I guess...whos in London? I'd come with a t-shirt over my boobs and bingo wings, just for the devilment.

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 25/03/2022 18:16

Oh this is soooo tempting. You, the British Library, want to throw out a group of feminists, who can not only point to actual dictionaries in your collection but have also literally just immersed themselves in a week of Forstater vs CGD and can quote the Equality Act verbatim? Huh. Good luck with that.

On a slightly different note, I'm confused - how do you normally wear your T-shirts, if not over your boobs? Have I been wearing mine wrong all this time? Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 25/03/2022 18:27

That's the most grifty grifting I've ever heard of. Surely no one can think that's value for money.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 25/03/2022 18:32

@SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl well, the boobage and bingo usually gets a wee cardigan to make it all a bit less, erm, much.

But, for THIS?

"Tits for tomes"

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 25/03/2022 18:33

Genuine laugh out loud at that slogan, Vivaria. Grin

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 25/03/2022 18:39

I really enjoy the humour, e.g. women turning up in dinosaur suits to protest at the Lancet.

It's huge effective. I'm so narked with all this Fresh Hell that I think I'd rather enjoy seeing what the BL might do with a small crowd of offensive t shirts over offensive womanly bodies with their offensive womanly rights.

Good luck at calling me "offensive" mate. I know what WORIAD means. AND I can cite the Grainger case at you. AND Maya follows me on twitter. So, there.

RhubarbCrumbled · 25/03/2022 18:47

I'm in! Tell Posie to get the T-shirts printed, stickers sticky and I'll get the kids to paint a lovely banner.

I'm so flipping sick of library and public service world being so woke. I'll happily test out the training.

nepeta · 25/03/2022 18:53

What would the British Library do if someone on the premises wore a t-shirt with a misogynistic message? My guess is that the answer is nothing. Some issues really are ignored.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 25/03/2022 19:00

I see they are open til 5pm on Sunday...it's Speaker's Corner on Sunday, isn't it?

I couldn't make it there on time this weekend, but I can meet up afterwards.

I'll bring an offensive t-shirt. It'll have grammatical errors, which are disturbing. A library upset by dictionary definitions probably needs a wee SSRI and a cuddle.

CompleteGinasaur · 25/03/2022 19:00

I'd like a banner with the dictionary definition of Bigotry (noun), please, Posie - only put a strikethrough over Bigotry and 'replace' it with Stonewall..

Get Over It.

(Only bigots in history who actually manufactured their own victim category..).

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 25/03/2022 19:00

The British Library says that it does not ask for the sex of job applicants - only gender identity.

So they are not bothered at all about collecting data which allows them to see whether their recruitment processes are doing what they should to redress at the age-old barriers which women (by which I mean adult human females) face when trying to get work. They are not bothered about being able to have the data which tells them whether men are being paid more than women. And they think their £1500 should be spent on anti-Terf training not anti-misogyny training. The mind boggles.
