Labour won't defend women part 2786

Betty91 · 22/03/2022 15:15

I see Charlotte Nichols Labour MP of Warrington is bravely defending Lia Thomas right to swim on Twitter. She's also now saying women are more concerned with excluding trans women from sport than sexual harassment and safeguarding.

I think that's it for me and Labour. Life long Labour voter - I voted for whoever would get the Tories, in order to help an overall Labour victory... but never again.

Extraordinary, isn't it? Girls, if you just trained harder, you too could become a 6'4" male. Does she feel this way about class inequality too?

So that's:
Rapists / paedophiles in prisons with women.
Don't talk about cervixes - they make men feel marginalised (unless they're the men who've grown their own)
Women's sport is now for mediocre men

Any other cracking policy headlines from this useless lot?

Cyw2018 · 22/03/2022 15:31

@LizDoingTheCanCan

women are more concerned with excluding trans women from sport than sexual harassment and safeguarding.

She's not wrong is she, with regards to some women. You only need to look at the posts on this board as proof.

No, women focus on the sports aspect of gender ideology as, sadly, it is something that men, who we need on side, can get their heads around. A lot of men are oblivious to the safeguarding needs of women as the concepts that women talk about are so abstract to them. Sports however....
Betty91 · 22/03/2022 15:32

She's claiming authority because she was competitive swimmer apparently too... so knows how hard Lia trained (but no mention of how hard the women in the pool would've had to train)

Lia barely even kicks and wins by 5 seconds. Glad to see Sharron Davies reply to CN getting 5000 plus likes.

What a joke the Labour Party have become.

That's not true about women's concerns about safeguarding and harassment - you'll see our concerns on most threads. But of course women wish to exclude transwomen from women's sports - as do most men. Take a look here and note the majority of the comments are from men:

Absolutely, I wouldn't vote for them again.

women are more concerned with excluding trans women from sport than sexual harassment and safeguarding sexual harassment and safeguarding are relevant as part of this topic - several reports of Thomas changing without sensitivity to colleagues in recent events. Charlotte Nichols appears hard of thinking on this subject.

Aah you may have missed the fact that most threads relating to this topic are moved to this board.

'But she's trained so hard' - LT was training hard before, and losing, in LT's own sex category. Still a good swimmer, but not a champion swimmer, and only a 'champion' now because swimming against people over whom LT has a clear advantage entirely unrelated to training.

Nichols clearly not smart.

tabbycatstripy · 22/03/2022 16:42

'She's not wrong is she, with regards to some women. You only need to look at the posts on this board as proof.'

Same women who are making the points on safeguarding and harassment. Same women who don't think males should change in the female changing rooms. Same reason.

maddy68 · 22/03/2022 16:52

Tories are so pro woman? .....
Be careful how you vote. To not vote labour on one issue is like saying you are a vegan and won't go to Tesco because they sell beef

Hasselhoffsheadband · 22/03/2022 16:55

I saw this - so now, recognising that a male is a male and shouldn't be competing in a women's category is 'lazy transphobia'....like, wtf? I honestly just don't get what they are trying to achieve here.

Also, I saw that the latest TRA line of bullshit is to claim that sports only became sex segregated because women started winning and the men didn't like it! These people will literally say anything, its bizarre! 🤣

CheekyMaw · 22/03/2022 16:57

I'm actually cringing for Charlotte. To be that desperate or brainwashed that you would use your hugely privileged position to sell your own sex out is quite something. You couldn't pay me to vote Labour now.

No it's not because of that.

Its because I am literally horrified at the things that Labour politicians have been willing to come out with in order to stick to an ideological line which everyone can see is horseshit.

It either shows a severe lack of intelligence and critical thinking, a severe lack of judgement, a severe amount of misogyny and, depressingly, it's likely that its a mixture of all of these things.

If I can't trust them to speak intelligently, critically, coherently and with good judgement on this issue, then I can't trust them to do it on other important issues either. They are completely discredited for me, I just can't vote for these people. And I have voted Labour in every election since I was 18, including in 2019. No more.

CheekyMaw · 22/03/2022 17:23

@maddy68 I won't be voting Tory or anyone else either . None of them deserve my vote.
I was a Labour member for years and an active campaigner . More fool me . The working class women of my former Labour Council were shafted for years by Labour , I'm ashamed to say, including relatives of mine. They fought women who had been unfairly paid for years ,so much some of them died. That's the great Labour Party .Labour was always the "best of a bad lot". None of the parties give much of a damn for women and girls .

Floisme · 22/03/2022 17:24

I am very careful how I vote, which is why I have no intention of casting it in favour of craven, men-pleasing fuckwits. But thank you for asking.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 22/03/2022 17:31

Motorina · 22/03/2022 17:35

She's also now saying women are more concerned with excluding trans women from sport than sexual harassment and safeguarding.

But Lia’s undressing in front of teenage girls who have been told they cannot say no is a safeguarding issue.

Not one person on here wants to exclude transwomen from sport

Life long Labour voter here. I won’t ever vote Tory. But I will not vote Labour until they recognise sex based rights, apologise for their past mistakes and accept that TP protect women/girls & children is not transphobic.

As a voter I get to choose the issues I decide my vote over. Some people chose economy, some chose foreign policy. This is what I chose and it’s just as valid as any other.

Please Labour think how you can get my vote back because I hate the Tories.

Lordamighty · 22/03/2022 17:47

Charlotte Nichols the Labour MP for Warrington North went on a Parliamentary cross party trip to Gibraltar late last year, she got so drunk on the flight there that she had to be taken off the plane in a wheelchair.
Once Keir Starmer was informed she was flown straight back without taking part in any meetings.
She was parachuted in to the constituency as it is a safe Labour seat so unfortunately people will probably still vote for her despite her idiotic support for the male swimmer in the women’s race.

Franklin12 · 22/03/2022 17:47

Honestly Labour are the gift that keeps giving to Boris.

So, they have meetings within the Labour Party where this is discussed... are they complete idiots to think this will go down well with the voters. Obviously they do so come 2024......

This is why although the Tories arent ideal Labour are MUCH MUCH worse. Can you imagine them getting in and introducing horseshit like this?

ResisterRex · 22/03/2022 17:59

I remember the flight story. Wasn't Charlotte Nichols also involved in leaflets about "traveller incursions" during electioneering? While holding the shadow equalities brief.
