Forgive the presumption, @Mforstater, but you’re probably busy in the pub right now, or passing on all of the fan mail to you legal team Grin so I’ve made a new thread to carry on the fascinating discussion.

Round up your cats, rabbits and weasels, and let’s go!

——————————————————————————————

From thread one, here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4498167-Maya-Forstater-hearing-starts-Monday

Hi all,

Thank you so much for all your support: emotional, intellectual, financial, spiritual(!) reading the Mumsnet feminism board is where this all started for me!

The case starts tomorrow.

It is all online. If you want to watch you need to email the tribunal for a log in to [email protected]

It kicks off at 10am - the first bit will be "admin" between the judges and the lawyers working out the timings, issues and any reporting restrictions hmm.

Once that is all sorted the judge and the panel will go away to read (probably for the rest of Monday and all of Tuesday)

I will most likely give evidence Wednesday and Thursday.

@tribunaltweets will be tweeting the whole thing (assuming they get permission from the judge)

Links to papers will go up throughout the case at www.hiyamaya.net.

Any other questions I am happy to answer them (apart from the ones where I have to say "that is for the tribunal to hear"...)

I have made a spectators guide with FAQs etc here

Lots of love

Maya

Bill Murray to play MP in the film of this!

tabbycatstripy · 17/03/2022 12:57

(Just as a quick statement from me - for posterity - these posts are MY best attempt to transcribe what is being said and are certainly not on any level word for word. They are as accurate as I have been able to make them.)

WinterTrees · 17/03/2022 12:58

Astonishing work tabby - your fingers must still be stiff from yesterday!

Proper gripping stuff

nauticant · 17/03/2022 12:58

All of the witnesses, all Americans, seem to have the view that someone can be sacked if others in the workplace are offended enough at them being there. I can't imagine it's UK law, is it something coming from US law?

Pluvia · 17/03/2022 12:58

MP I don't recall saying that (telling Maya that she's antagonised people with her tweets and that was why she was let go)

He doesn't remember saying that — but he doesn't deny it.

Norma27 · 17/03/2022 12:59

Of course you are Margarita 🤣

PoshPyjamas · 17/03/2022 13:00

Lunch!

tabbycatstripy · 17/03/2022 13:01

BREAK for the ET.

(My observation: CGD had a huge motivation not to want this information out in the open. There is a documented trail of them trying to manoeuvre the Gates Foundation into being complicit in their actions. Not great.)

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 17/03/2022 13:03

@PoshPyjamas

I think MP likes Maya and agrees with her, and feels v uncomfortable to be on the other side.
I think the same @PoshPyjamas
yourhairiswinterfire · 17/03/2022 13:04

MP: I mean, there was discussion earlier on about whether... EM didn't want to renew the VF. She said let's let it drop, let it end

BC: I asked whether that was EM's position earlier and you equivocated, but thank you.

Oooh, Ben is gooood.

MsGoodenough · 17/03/2022 13:05

This is absolutely fascinating. Thanks so much Tabby you are amazing!
Is there a handy place I can find a list of all the initial and who they are and their role? Getting a bit lost apart from coming to the conclusion MP is a more decent human being than AM and LE!

Pluvia · 17/03/2022 13:06

Ah: I didn't spot that. But yes, not good to have Gates dragged into this.

ThePennyJustDropped · 17/03/2022 13:08

I can't tell because I'm only quickly reading Tabby's excellent transcript here and not listening live, but if this is the case why does he not make a stand and leave CGD?

Side note, wish I didn't have to work and could follow this all live rather than catch up on lunch.

Pluvia · 17/03/2022 13:08

No doubt that MP likes Maya and (possibly) agrees with her and is struggling with having to defend his employer in such nasty circumstances.

I hope anyone with any influence watching will see how he and Maya are people of integrity.

That’s how it comes across. His body language is interesting. While his answers are carefully put across, he is often smiling awkwardly which is rather incongruent. I’m not sure if it makes him look embarrassed or cocky.
BrightYellowDaffodil · 17/03/2022 13:10

He doesn't remember saying that — but he doesn't deny it.

Amnesia can be such a handy thing, can't it?

(Newbie on the thread here but I've been dipping in and out as work allows - thank you for all the transcribing and for the comedy gem that was "You can stop now Ben, he's dead" Grin )

BC certainly has a very sharp mind & remembers every detail - he's doing so brilliantly well.
MsGoodenough · 17/03/2022 13:12

Thanks nauticant

CriticalCondition · 17/03/2022 13:13

This is shaping up in a very interesting way indeed. I'm clearing my diary for MA's evidence.

HardyBuckette · 17/03/2022 13:14

@nauticant

But I also think that MP is very pissed off to have been caught up in an unpleasant campaign by others in the workplace and now to be having two thoroughly unpleasant days.
Tbh so would I in his position. Not to say no criticism at all is deserved, but he isn't the one who started this nonsense.
PoshPyjamas · 17/03/2022 13:14

but if this is the case why does he not make a stand and leave CGD?

Because it would make him unemployable in America.

Baystard · 17/03/2022 13:16

Thanks to @tabbycatstripy for the transcript, I'm following here (still waiting for a link despite asking them twice now), really fascinating.

littlbrowndog · 17/03/2022 13:17

Thanks tabby 💪🥰🥰🥰
