She's written a barnstorming article in today's Times highlighting the absurdity of Labour's inability define a woman. Share token:

Great article. “Comments have been turned off”. Of course they have.

Rodedooda · 12/03/2022 07:36

Great article.

Fuck off Times with your comments off cowardice. My subscription money is as good as any mans yet why do I get an inferior service.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 12/03/2022 08:20

that's a cracking article

i see starmer has nailed his TWAW colours to the mast. which means labour can whistle for my vote until he fucks off

MiladyBerserko · 12/03/2022 08:26

The comments are turned off on most, if not all 'gender' articles but not on any other articles except where there is a legal issue.

It's really very poor form but there's little in this 'debate' that surprises me anymore.

OhHolyJesus · 12/03/2022 08:28

"Humpty Dumpty’s smugness did not, of course, stop him falling off the wall and being smashed irredeemably to bits; and Labour’s hapless attitude to the woman question will shatter its reputation in time."

Brilliant article! I just can't see how they cannot see it, after all this time, after Labour Women's Declaration and the many, many grassroots groups forming to challenge this in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England.

What is going on? Is there a family member who Starmer cannot risk upsetting, is there a political advisor giving crap advice based on Stonewall Law?

He's had so many warnings, all I can conclude is he's not listening and doesn't care. And that is straightforward. Message received and understood. And voting Tory if I can stand it.

ChopinBoard · 12/03/2022 08:30

I look forward to telling Labour canvassers that I don't want to go down the rabbit hole of voting for them at the next election.

Pluvia · 12/03/2022 08:33

There are local council elections here in some wards and the women of my city are hammering Labour, Green and Lib Dem councillors with awkward questions. So much so that when one of them turned up here and I asked him how he defined a woman he said 'one of those people who've had a perfectly justified go at me about ten times already today.' He then went on to say he got it, his girlfriend gets it and he's appalled by it and if I voted for him he'd help start dismantling the TWAW mantra.

Magdalena543 · 12/03/2022 08:34

Labour are a laughing stock.

Just that...is progress. It wasn't long ago they all said they hadn't had any questions about this at all, even though they had been asked [in writing] and the receipts were there.

Good article. Thanks Sarah. What a snivelling, wee coward Starmer is . Total cringe. Sadly ,I will not be returning to Labour anytime soon. They do their own leafleting and doorknocking in the rain .

Please talk about MALE violence against women and girls tho'.
Every. Time.
Thank you.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 12/03/2022 09:08

Pluvia that made me smile Grin

IcakethereforeIam · 12/03/2022 09:18

It's great that it's coming up on the doorstep. I never get canvassed, it's weird our council is hung, more often than not, and my ward is marginal.

Igmum · 12/03/2022 09:21

Excellent article thank you. This is exactly the point. The law relies on precise definitions. Those who cannot or will not define vital terms like women should not be making laws.

WellNotReally · 12/03/2022 09:22

Dont know if anyone watched The Last Leg yesterday? Victoria Coren-Mitchell was on. No idea where she sits historically on the subject, but she brought up the WH interview. The 3 - male of course - presenters were joking about there being a 'Pie Week' whilst there was only a 'Women's Day'. VCM said something like "We can't even define a woman, did you hear the Labour shadow minister tie herself in knots on WH?"

Adam Hill, the world's most pious left wing presenter, really didn't know what to say next.

WellNotReally · 12/03/2022 09:23

Sorry, should have also said thank you for the article, it's excellent.

I didn't see it (all recent episodes I have seen were too boring), but I'm not surprised. They have just side-stepped this issue, shows they don't want to tackle anything genuinely controversial. They know exactly what a woman is, it's the type of person who only gets a guest slot on their show.

Hazelnut5 · 12/03/2022 10:20

Brilliant article. Thanks Sarah Ditum. Please, Labour, use this: “A woman is an adult human female. Trans women have the right to be safe and respected in their chosen gender, and Labour is committed to balancing the rights of both groups.”

VenezuelaChant · 12/03/2022 10:24

I can't imagine VCM being anything other than witheringly factual. I do wonder what she thinks when the token TW rocks up on OC.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/03/2022 10:29

VCM's sister in law got hounded by some TRAs the other year. She knows.
