Maya Forstater hearing starts Monday

Hi all,

Thank you so much for all your support: emotional, intellectual, financial, spiritual(!) reading the Mumsnet feminism board is where this all started for me!

The case starts tomorrow.

It is all online. If you want to watch you need to email the tribunal for a log in to [email protected]

It kicks off at 10am - the first bit will be "admin" between the judges and the lawyers working out the timings, issues and any reporting restrictions Hmm.

Once that is all sorted the judge and the panel will go away to read (probably for the rest of Monday and all of Tuesday)

I will most likely give evidence Wednesday and Thursday.

@tribunaltweets will be tweeting the whole thing (assuming they get permission from the judge)

Links to papers will go up throughout the case at www.hiyamaya.net.

Any other questions I am happy to answer them (apart from the ones where I have to say "that is for the tribunal to hear"...)

I have made a spectators guide with FAQs etc here

Lots of love

Maya

@sacredfeminina

Posie parker just blew up on twitter saying she has blocked Maya (check pic). Whats going on?
Hardly blew up. It's quite easy to track the series of tweets involved even for those of us who aren't on Twitter.

The financial remark relates to this interesting interpretation, afaict:

Datun · 14/03/2022 00:32

She left a leaflet on her desk?

That's it?

I don't get it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/03/2022 00:33

Kellie Jay has been banned from Twitter for a long time. She's literally just arrived in America for an event she's speaking at there soon. This account is not one I know of, there is a Kellie Jay account run by supporters, and a Standing for Women one. AFAIK she doesn't have a personal Twitter account so this all looks a bit fake. If she wants to put out this message, I imagine she'll also make it on her Facebook or YouTube channels.

It's very odd that people are pearl clutching over it so much.

OvaHere · 14/03/2022 00:36

I don't think that account is actually related to Posie.

To the best of my knowledge this is the only account related to (but not run by) KJK/Posie

Consulting Maya's bundle, she had the leaflet. When it came up in discussion, she said she was willing to lend it to anyone who wanted to read it. She was also willing to discuss any matters arising from it (exact wording in the bundles).

She'd picked up the leaflet from attending the court hearing for Linda B and Venice Allen (iirc).

OvaHere · 14/03/2022 00:43

It was a singular campaign leaflet from FPFW about the GRA consultation that was happening at the time.

The government led consultation that everyone in the country was encouraged to discuss and take part in.

Lots of organisations produced campaign material at the time including Stonewall, as was their right and the right of FPFW.

That's how the democratic process of public consultation works.

I'm certain Maya's employers wouldn't have objected to Stonewall campaign material being brought into the office.

Thank you.

But I still don't get what the problem is. Even a pretendy one.

A leaflet is a nothing thing. Women often come back from meetings laden with them. Its not a thing

Yes, that's what I thought. And it's really not Kellie-Jay's style.

On Twitter, it's become her forcing leaflets on people with transphobic and misrepresentations of the law etc.

I'm merely reporting the attempt to kick up dust on Twitter.

yourhairiswinterfire · 14/03/2022 01:03

They're scraping the bottom of the barrel there.

They can't keep pretending that Maya misgendered and harassed her nonexistant trans colleauge anymore, because that's obviously complete bullshit. So they've had to come up with something else to bang on about, and they've latched on to the point that she took one leaflet to work (oh, the horror!) This is apparently "fraud" because Maya didn't mention it on her crowdfunding page.

And predictably, one single leaflet has turned in to " Maya LITERALLY leaflet-bombed the entire office! ".

Pathetic 🙄

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/03/2022 01:15

@MForstater might be worth flagging some of this Twitter activity up to your lawyers.

Datun · 14/03/2022 01:20

Got it. Thank you.

As ever, the batshit behaviour of TRAs relentlessly advances the GC cause. 😂

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 14/03/2022 02:40

That is a fake account posing as Posie Parker. I have reported it repeatedly, but nothing is done.

Artichokeleaves · 14/03/2022 07:05

There is going to have to be some investigation of how those without capacity for ethics or basic boundaries use twitter and information during ongoing court cases, this is becoming a frequent thing.

nauticant · 14/03/2022 08:02

Have a look here:

twitter.com/StandingforXX/status/1470042376156725253

The bio used to contain the word "parody" (unless that image was photoshopped) but at some point was dropped.

sacredfeminina · 14/03/2022 08:20

Ahh right. Yes thats a shame for Kellie, I believed it was her! Looking at some of the other comments the account has made, they are pretty bad. Not a good look for Kellie, it needs to go!

bishophaha · 14/03/2022 09:53

I wish everyone would stop being so unquestioning! We are well aware that people pretend to be what they're not for nefarious means!
Sorry to be so frustrated.

Cuck00soup · 14/03/2022 09:59

I haven't been defrauded. I donated money to a cause I believe in,

I may even very possibly have dropped a few leaflets myself.

Go Maya.

jellyfrizz · 14/03/2022 10:04

A transwoman might be offended if thought of as male..

Is it possible for a female to be a trans woman?

DomesticatedZombie · 14/03/2022 10:08

Good luck today, Maya. Read your witness statement last night; there was so much more to it than I'd realised. Strength to you.

Signalbox · 14/03/2022 10:25

I'm already enjoying today's hearing...

Luke Easley isn't Grin

nauticant · 14/03/2022 10:47

That was interesting, Ben Cooper steered Luke Easley in saying that he didn't know much about the culture in the CGD London office, after LE had earlier agreed that one must view the acceptability of discussions, including over twitter, in the correct context.

nauticant · 14/03/2022 10:51

LE: when I was making decisions about MF it wasn't important to me what was the context of the London office in terms of acceptability of discussions. (Obviously I'm paraphrasing.)

Signalbox · 14/03/2022 10:55

I get the sense that Ben Cooper is laying subtle traps. LE knows this and is reluctant to agree with anything.
