Green Party boys need their heads checked. 8c, Staniforth pushing this.

Rats boarding a sinking ship? Edinburgh council need to know we aren't having this. The people pushing for this should be held accountable when the court cases hit in schools.

This is the same guy telling mixed raced people they are white.

Stonewall charges a lot of money to give bad and often incorrect advice which could lead to costly legal action, eg if organisations follow Stonewall’s advice to move “ahead of” the law.

Not what most people want councils to be spending their money on.

Good luck, OP. People need to hear about these plans.

littlbrowndog · 15/02/2022 09:44

I would like my council to spend money on the potholes everywhere. Cyclists risk their lives trying to get round them

The black bins on the streets that us who live in tenements have to use be mended as not all of us are 6 foot tall and strong
I could go on and on
So much to spend money on to make lives better. Than stonewall

RadicalFern · 15/02/2022 13:20

Ugh no thank you. I'm with littlbrowndog, let's spend the money on bins that we can actually use and on getting them emptied regularly!

DomesticatedZombie · 15/02/2022 13:47

'no consideration of the costs or implications' - two councillors there asking what the benefit of joining this expensive program is, when they already have a Diversity/Inclusion policy. Good questions.

DomesticatedZombie · 15/02/2022 13:48
  • two tory councillors both speaking very reasonably there.
vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 15/02/2022 14:04

Has Edinburgh City Council not reflected on their previous mistakes? Like the fraud in housing? The tram fiasco with deaths of cyclists? Aren't we at risk of losing the World Heritage Status?

I take it they haven't heard the Nolan Podcast, then?

littlbrowndog · 15/02/2022 14:47

The tenement compulsry roofing scandal

Edinburgh council that was a whole department

cupolaoftea · 15/02/2022 17:10

Apparently there's a new "queer grocery" to open in Edinburgh, too.

🙃

Lucienandjean · 15/02/2022 17:21

A queer grocery? Um...I'm trying to resist mentioning wonky carrots, clearly.

Where is this grocery going to be?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 15/02/2022 17:31

So, it's not a queer store, it's a common or garden grocery shop run by people with hair dye.

Well, good for them. it's good to have independent shops and I admire their attitude and wish them luck.

My search for a glitter rainbow emporium continues...

CompleteGinasaur · 15/02/2022 17:42

A Lesbian shoe shop? All merchandise extremely sensible..

That is absolutely hilarious! It's just a grocery store! 😂 There are quite a few of these sustainable shops around Edinburgh.

Luna and Em are currently the only two employees at Gull's, with no plans to expand and make their business into a chain, the main goal is to give something back and also make sure that members of the LGBTQ+ community feel safe in their shop.

Who feels unsafe in a grocery shop?! 😂

I literally walked past this place today and spotted the blue hair. I will pop in to check out the prices. With my For Women Scotland pin - let's see if I get banned!

334bu · 15/02/2022 18:07

They continued: "Everything in the store is at least vegetarian, with some vegan. I've been a vegetarian for a long time and it can be expensive buying snacks and ingredients

Obviously not your regular corner shop.

I was told once that Clarks sold shoes that were 'a bit lesbian'. Obviously by a shop assistant with not very much in the brain department.

Please do this, and please come back and tell us how it went.

CatSpeakForDummies · 16/02/2022 09:24

The queer business model appears to be this (based on the safe space cafe near me, in a very safe part of a very safe city):

You can run at a loss but prop the business up with donations from go fund me where you talk at length about how the community really needs this space, as otherwise everyone who feels they don't fit in will jump off the nearest bridge. You are literally saving lives by propping up this crap cafe.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 16/02/2022 10:54

There is a crap cafe near me too.

It sells nothing with sugar or cream. There are "muffins" - made with oatmeal and figs.

I was taken there on the promise of 500kcal in a slice. And I got something which had been foraged for and pressed together into the shape of a slice by the weight of the world on the baker's rainbow clad shoulders.

Shouldn't be allowed.

You with your badge of hate, making people unsafe. Look forward to hearing how it goes.

Properly made me laugh. 😂

littlbrowndog · 16/02/2022 15:58

Me too 🤣

The councillor who pushed for Stonewall is taking an "interesting" approach to the pushback.
