Britain's Equalities Watchdog Met Privately With Anti-Trans Groups

Ben Hunte and Steph Place have carried out an investigation into the EHRC. Steph's Place is now demanding:

. The immediate resignation of the Chair of the EHRC, Baroness Kishwar Falkner, and the entire Board of Commissioners

• The immediate resignation of the Ministers for Equality Liz Truss and Kemi Badenoch, who are directly responsible for the political appointment of the EHRC leadership

• The EHRC immediately cease all activities in relation to the Equalities Act 2010 and any associated guidance which may impact the rights of trans people in the UK

• Removal of the EHRC's 'A' status as a National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) as it is clearly unfit for purpose

• A full review of the EHRC's fitness to practice as a human rights organisation as a United Nations accredited National Human Rights Institution.

• All EHRC Board and Chair replacements should be selected based on a proven track record of defending and promoting human rights for all UK citizens and approved by the Women & Equalities Select Committee.

As far as I can tell the main findings of the investigation are that the EHRC had the temerity to meet with FPFW and LGB Alliance Shock

Are Ben Hunte and Ben Hunter different people pushing the trans agenda?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 02/02/2022 13:27

Every time Ben Hunte pops up I wonder at how bad you have to be that even the bbc thinks “nah”

TinselAngel · 02/02/2022 13:31

Lol at "Steph's Place" being described as a "trans rights organisation" rather than just the rantings of a particularly bitter individual.

TinselAngel · 02/02/2022 13:37

Also lol at David Isaac, who IIRC used to work for Stonewall saying:

"My view is that an independent regulator shouldn’t be in a position where the governments of the day can actually influence the appointments of that body to support a particular ideology.”

MiladyBerserko · 02/02/2022 13:49

I do hope that article gets a good airing as it shows quite clearly what the public need to see.

The EHRC have a leak. Or do they?

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 02/02/2022 13:55

If we assume the resources couldn't be put to better use (bold assumption, but let's go there anyway), I could support this demand:

A full review of the EHRC's fitness to practice as a human rights organisation as a United Nations accredited National Human Rights Institution.

  • although presumably any review finding that it is indeed legitimate and appropriate for the EHRC to engage with stakeholders such as FPFW and LGBA would also simply demonstrate institutional transphobia. Hmm

I would be concerned by any review carried out by the UN, which has demonstrably been captured.

Oh dear. That rattle fairly flew from the pram!

VestofAbsurdity · 02/02/2022 14:07

@Goatsaregreat

So Steph's & Ben's position is that groups like the EHRC must only meet with Steph and Ben' s friends? Nobody else, especially women must be allowed access? And this is their understanding of how a democracy works?

It's the Violet Elizabeth Bott approach to politics and democracy Grin

Only approved women Goats, you know the types - those who identify as such or those who are craven submissive hand maidens.
Lovelyricepudding · 02/02/2022 14:15

That reminds me of a certain manifesto demanding trans people should be trained to carry out surgery so they can operate on other trans people on demand.

ArabellaScott · 02/02/2022 14:15

people are advocating eating puppies!

Shock Not again!

Steph's Place was the organisation that had the very kind and loving signs picketing outside the Filia conference?

Sure the govt should take advice from these people.

Stopped reading at 'Ben Hunte'. I mean Ben Hunte?

happydappy2 · 02/02/2022 14:25

They have no idea how deluded they sound. If there is no clash of rights then what's the problem?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 02/02/2022 14:29

For the blocked, Steph's pinned tweet says

"I do not intend to "steal" a womans body, her place, her mind.
I LOVE women.
But I only have one life and I must live it as best I am able.
I am trans"

(grammar and spelling model's own)

Who do these people think they are? They've had the ear of the powerful for so long they've lost all sense of perspective.

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 02/02/2022 14:40

Womens rights are not a hate crime.
Womens rights are not transphobic.

SamphiretheStickerist · 02/02/2022 14:47

Oh yes they are!

Don't try to fight it. That too is a hate crime.

All we really need explaining is WHY?

If we could prove the why, what the end game is, in a way that is incontrovertible, we could stop them in their tracks. But the only 'truths' I have seen are too scary to be seen as anything other than fearful conspiracy theories. I don't doubt one or all of them may hold some truth, but they sound ludicrous!

Britain's Equalities Watchdog Met Privately With Pro-Women and lesbian Groups.

There fixed it for you.

Snugglepumpkin · 02/02/2022 15:20

Well it makes perfect sense that womens rights groups had to meet privately because the TRAs have a track record of making death threats, destroying womens livelihoods & are proven violent aggressors.
If it had been known about in advance those real women would have been at risk of real harm.
That is the reputation TRAs have given themselves through both words & actions which really should be their bigger concern than what real women do.

It's just the same as any other meeting where there is a risk of harm to the attendees & is the responsible thing for the Equalities Watchdog to do.

Not that it is any TRAs business what women do because they either deny they are women or were never women in the first place.

I don't see why the ones who say they aren't women would have any interest in what women say about womens rights relating to living as a biological woman & it's nothing to do with the ones who are biologically male.

That reminds me of a certain manifesto demanding trans people should be trained to carry out surgery so they can operate on other trans people on demand.
It does make you wonder at what point will they stop pandering to this very special group. Those nasty gatekeeping surgeons getting in the way of adult ed weekend courses on how to carry out top surgery in your kitchen.
delurkasaurus · 02/02/2022 15:54

What is revealing about the toddler tantrum response to the EHRC applying their judgment of the law, is that it seems previously, Stonewall and co represented the Lord Wonderful Daddy The Marvellous figure to, and within, these taxpayer-funded organisations. Like cutted pear mum, women were tolerated so long as they were just there to do the leg work and show no dissent.

No more.

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 02/02/2022 15:55

Steph needs a time out and a talk about how throwing massive tantrums doesn't get you what you want.

PaleGreenGhost · 02/02/2022 16:09

I always wondered if the reason for this was to replicate the kind of internal pressure exerted on members of cultures which inflict FGM? Where the person commuting the mutilation is an important cultural figure, ensuring that there are many people below them - of both sexes - with an interest in ensuring that the girl's family doesn't back out.

I've just seen We Are Fair Cop tweet that Ben Hunte is advising Kent Police at their LGBT conference.
