Trans woman’s terrible prison experience. (Article omits important detail)

Via @Glinner ‘s substack.

Repeat offender Rayne Bennett says prison broke them and that the prison system is too dangerous for trans women. The article left out that they were incarcerated for sexually assaulting a 14 year old girl.

the people who come here never want to talk specifics do they?

they never want to talk about what we do with the Rayne Bennetts of this world, the men who rape children and then want to be locked up with women and are vocally sad when they aren't

they never question why Rayne feeling sad has more impact on them than the child he raped feeling sad

In both the US and the UK, around 50% of trans prisoners are sex offenders. Are men who identify as women more likely to be sex offenders, or are men who commit sexual offences identifying as women in the hopes of being locked up with more victims?

either way, don't women prisoners deserve to be protected from men who want to hurt them?

let's talk specifics

Scraggythang · 15/01/2022 11:06

Exactly. We know that Trans women are over represented in the prison system. Why is that exactly? Criminologist feel silenced or have been bullied out of their posts for stating the facts. Why?

And why do we get radio silence from the other side when these cases come to light? And let’s face it, it’s becoming more and more a regular occurrence.

Prison isn't good for nonces shocker.

SunnyDelite · 15/01/2022 11:17

The "usual suspects", such as Cheesecake, seem to absent themselves from threads like this.
They can see they don't have an argument...

DialSquare · 15/01/2022 11:17

@DialSquare

Prison isn't good for nonces shocker.
Just to clarify this is aimed at the article not you OP.
Scraggythang · 15/01/2022 11:19

@DialSquare maybe I should get HQ to change the title 🤣

Yes. As someone said the other day on a thread that turned into one about ‘StephOnKnee’, “it’s interesting which threads they choose to show up on…”

Prison is not a beach resort.. what did they think it would be?

And who cares.. he raped a 14 yr old so I personally don’t give one damned that prison “broke them”.

JDaytona · 15/01/2022 12:11

Ah won't someone think of the poor trans paedos. Tragedy.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 15/01/2022 12:15

If a real woman (I refuse to use the term cis) committed a crime against a child she too would get a rough time in prison.

HaroldMeeker · 15/01/2022 12:17

So pwison wasn't fun for the poor darling? Diddums.

Artichokeleaves · 15/01/2022 12:50

The answer to keep vulnerable male prisoners safer is either radical overhaul of the male system or TW units. Which the govt and Downview tried. The TW didn't want them.

Keeping male prisoners safer is a very important thing. I'm all for it. But it does not equate with putting them in with non consenting female prisoners, which is what this is all about. Meeting male needs does not equal using females as service animals. Ever.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 15/01/2022 13:04

I have also noticed a lack of pastel coloured pom pom waving on threads which are specific.

It is quite hard to defend the indefensible.

This man has abused a girl and so has the journalist who wrote this biased article. I hope the girl never sees his face in the paper or anywhere else again. She was very brave to pursue a conviction.

blingblangbling · 15/01/2022 14:50

Just for info, this individual was incarcerated in Kansas USA, not UK.

ArabellaScott · 15/01/2022 15:36

Yes, odd how many of our righteous right side of history posters are absent on these threads. Really surprising.

For balance, I suppose I have seen posters on Twitter defending the rights of people like Karen White, Katie Dolatowski, Jessica Yaniv, Barbie Kardashian et al to be recognised as their desired gender and house in prison accordingly. Which is at the very least honest.

BlackAlys · 15/01/2022 18:46

Prison broke him?

He was already broken.

DdraigGoch · 15/01/2022 22:20

The article mentions that he has been in prison twice. I wonder what the other offence was.

DdraigGoch · 15/01/2022 22:26

Not that it's news to anyone that sex offenders are vulnerable prisoners. It's pretty routine for sex offenders to end up in protective custody, but that's got nothing to do with the pronouns they use, and everything to do with the nature of the crime they committed and the feelings other prisoners have about those who commit that sort of crimes.

CheeseMmmm · 16/01/2022 04:47

I feel really uncomfortable with GL commentary and in general tbh.

Males should never be in women's prisons. Full stop. Before i continue.

This is USA prison system. I thought well known for having loads of just massive problems. It's not here.

I know bits and bobs.

  • Big business. All private. All about profit. That invariably mean little to no shits about anything else ie the people in prison.

  • Production value work by inmates (unpaid) contribution to economy, I was wtf seriously?

  • Racism. Prison terms black v white so different. Then.. well have to work and no pay. That sounds familiar somehow... That's an aside but for me adds to picture overall.

  • ok from TV films so um. Always presented as vast, gang activities, violence, just essentially a disaster. Never seen different to that. True? Got to be at least partly.

That all is massive usa issue. Their prison system is atrociously awful on many fronts. Totally different to UK. How can understand picture when pretty much no idea context?

Tbc

CheeseMmmm · 16/01/2022 05:01

The article is really really odd.

Things trivial early on. Rapes not mentioned till way down. There's a reason for that I don't know what (yet).

I mean it goes on and wigs makeup etc. Then way down oh yeah and multiple rapes. That's... Not normal reporting. Not what do if want to garner sympathy.

In end. Ideally.

No males with women ever. Full stop.

That given, ideally-

Prisons here there everywhere work really hard to make safer. Plenty of males have factors that mean v vulnerable in prison. TW are in that group.

That's not going to happen.

Next option. Separate those who are obviously at high risk of harm, or who are regularly targeted. Esp related to sexual violence.

Can't see that happening.

So... That's on the govts, prisons depts, etc.

Not the fault of women who know sex matters FFS.
And those who push for males if trans in female prisons.
What about all the other vulnerable men eh? Why zero interest in them? And given don't care about women. Progressive you say? Well that's drivel obv.

CheeseMmmm · 16/01/2022 05:07

'Bennett said she was raped multiple times in Kansas prisons due in part to what she said is KDOC’s lack of interest in keeping her safe. She said she was raped by other inmates because she was transgender, and she raised her safety concerns to KDOC but not enough was done.'

'Bennett said her rape claims also weren’t investigated properly. She said that in one instance, she had both DNA inside of her and on her clothing but no rape kit was done and KDOC didn’t ask for her clothes for a week.'

Right at end and mixed in with loads of stuff about wigs.

What he did was appalling and rightly in prison.

Should part of prison be sexual violation?
Just in general? I mean won't just happen to rapists.

Is it right to condemn one rapist but applaud others?

Not for me thanks.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 16/01/2022 14:29

@CheeseMmmm yes, that is an important point.

I heard Tara Hudson on Radio 4 years ago, it was Tara who peaked me.

Jeremy Vine (I think) did an interview with Tara who described her (pronoun for benefit of mods) appearance in a breathy voice and basically said she was "very popular" amongst the other inmates because of how she looked. She since tried to sue for damages because of sexual assaults which allegedly were perpetrated against her while an inmate.

I agree, sexual assault is a hideous crime and no incarcerated person should not have state sanctioned rape added to their sentence. This is a massive problem that the justice system needs to address.

But, it is an unsettling truth that for some males who have AGP, sexual assault fantasies are part of the fetish. As is telling people about it. As is portraying themselves as a helpless victim.

So, whilst #IBelieveHer is my default response to hearing about a case of sexual assault, I'd also take what a person who is a rapist and/or a fetishist, who has been given a public forum says with a large fist full of salt.

BootsAndRoots · 16/01/2022 14:34

Paedophiles and rapists are well known for being master manipulators, exactly what evidence do we have that this person is actually trans?

It's well known in the UK that prisoners lie about being certain religions to get better meals. Why do we automatically believe someone, who has been convicted of lying (amongst other horrendous things), that they are what they say they are?

This is the problem with self-ID, anyone can claim to be anything, even when they're not.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 16/01/2022 14:54

what evidence do we have that this person is actually trans?

define 'trans'

he said he felt he was a woman. i thought that was all that's required?
