TIme to buy some new stickers! www.adulthumanfemale.store/product-page/j-k-rowling-sticker

Rhannion · 11/01/2022 00:19

I think many of us already think she is, love to see her made a Dame for her charity work.

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 11/01/2022 01:05

She already is. It's only people on Twatter who disagree.

KittenKong · 11/01/2022 11:43

She is. I’m not a HP fan (I enjoy strike though) but I do think she comes across as a strong woman - who should be used as a role model for kids today rather than them stamping their feet and renaming school houses because ‘transphobia’ that they can’t event give evidence for).

Woeismethischristmas · 11/01/2022 11:48

She is. Luckily the dc are fans but I think I’d buy her books regardless.

Rodedooda · 11/01/2022 11:50

Why isn't she a Dame already?

Political? (Pre THAT tweet)
Her age?

More than deserved for either HP or her charity work.

toddybell · 11/01/2022 14:27

She fucking amazing. I hope she sees how many people love her to bits and has found away to ignore the twats.

FannyCann · 11/01/2022 14:56

A Dame? She should be a Baroness and get a place in the House of Lords.

Imagine the TRA rage if she was sitting there, next to Professor Winston as he declares "Humans cannot change sex" and then schools everyone about what a cervix is before JKR gets to make a speech about Orwell. Grin

Cuck00soup · 11/01/2022 15:07

We should nominate her for damehood.

Are there honours for the Queen's Birthday?

ReeseWitherfork · 11/01/2022 15:20

Thanks for sharing OP. I often feeling quite an overwhelming sadness and anger at the world for not listening to the words she has actually said, let alone the inability to talk about and resolve the issues at hand. It's reassuring to read such a piece; the journalist clearly understands the debate as well as JKR's stance, instead of simply jumping to either end of an extreme. Hoping public support for her becomes far more common (outside of twitter and Mumsnet).

NitroNine · 11/01/2022 15:38

There are indeed Birthday Honours @Cuck00soup, & anyone can nominate JKR for inclusion in the List. You can’t request/suggest she receive a particular Honour though - the Honours Committee decide which Award, if any, to give the people nominated.

Sometimes I come dangerously close to knowing useful things & being able to communicate them well & clearly.

RoyalCorgi · 11/01/2022 16:01

She is a good person. They hate that. And they hate that however many lies they tell, they can't pin anything on her. People still buy her books and people still love her. That has to hurt.

JustSpeculation · 11/01/2022 18:19

She's a CBE already I think. Damehood is the next step. Maybe she's just happy pottering along till the next honour strikes. But yes she should definitely be a baroness because that's a job rather than an honour and she'd be really good at it. She might not get enough writing done though.

FannyCann · 11/01/2022 19:00

It's true, I doubt she would want to be in the Lords both for political reasons and because she has other commitments with writing and charity etc.
But it would be great if she'd just go down there, make the odd killer speech and then go back to her normal life now and again.

Slothtoes · 11/01/2022 19:06

JKR ticks every criterion on Nitros link: www.gov.uk/honours

‘People get honours for achievements like:

making a difference to their community or field of work
enhancing Britain’s reputation
long-term voluntary service
innovation and entrepreneurship
changing things, with an emphasis on achievement
improving life for people less able to help themselves
displaying moral courage’

Let’s all nominate her ❤️

nocoolnamesleft · 11/01/2022 19:08

She is a national treasure. And in time that will be recognised again.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/01/2022 19:10

Or until there's a casual vacancy..
TheIdiot7 · 11/01/2022 19:22

Her charity Lumos did some wonderful things.
She is an inspiration to me.

Rodedooda · 11/01/2022 19:37

What a wonderful Baroness she'd make.

now day dreaming of all the other women who would be wonderful in the HOL and what a difference they could make.

Slothtoes · 11/01/2022 20:12

Yes.

I didn’t see a 2021 list if there was one but in 2020:

Multiple nominations!

Oh I’d love to see her in the House of Lords.

Oh dear, so much rage and frustration for people who are furious to start off with! And worst of all it’s inflicted on them by a (ugh) woman. If only they could let go of all this rage and enjoy living in an affluent, free country where they’re not being persecuted ….
