Green Party Women’s Ctte Candidates Vote

WomanStillNotAFeeling · 05/01/2022 20:11

After the disappointment of Green Party leader vote I’ve hung on as member to this vote but I don’t know enough about the candidates to know who would actually support women and who would kowtow to the males identifying as women.

I would appreciate it if one of the long term Green Party MN members could provide some guidance

Ani Stafford Townshed. Co chair candidate
Emma Bateman. ditto
Emma Carter. ditto
Tina Rothery. ditto

Emma Bateman talks clearly of women's rights, she's definitely on-side.
Ani Stafford Townshed talks of 'diverse range of women & those perceived female' so maybe not so much.
Emma Carter mentions women & non binary people but her definition of women is unclear. The stats she uses to show barriers may indicate she's referring to biological women. Would help if she made this clear but possibility for 2nd preference?
Tina Rothery wants to 'work AS WOMEN (her caps) on issues that matter to everyone & the women's group would be a bold & beautiful part of....GPEW'. She's also wearing a rainbow lanyard. I think she may be twaw?

Hannah Clare candidate for secretary says mixed gender in the first sentence & marginalised genders later on, so maybe go for the others - the job share duo who again don't define what they mean by 'women' but at least don't appear to confuse sex & gender

CatsOperatingInGangs · 05/01/2022 21:55

This candidate works for Gender GP and Gendered Intelligence.

Green Party Women’s Ctte Candidates Vote
Iwishihadariver · 05/01/2022 22:00

There are about 9 women standing for 3 positions as non portfolio officer. 6 are job share. I can't be bothered to write up details as once again they don't all define what they mean by women. Some of them sound impressive but without being clear on womens sex based rights I can't tell so need more info from hustings event.

BoredOfCbeebies · 05/01/2022 22:01

Emma has recommended Mandy Vere for non-portfolio on Twitter.

Iwishihadariver · 05/01/2022 22:02

Although new member & candidate Francesca Crichton Earl is 78 and uses public transport to get around which deserves respect

Iwishihadariver · 05/01/2022 22:06

2 candidates for treasurer both seem nice, if they can do accounts that's OK in my book. But same women/definition issue.

Iwishihadariver · 05/01/2022 22:09

Last but not least membership secretary Elise Benjamin. Just the one candidate so what the hell, give her the job. Nice smile. Lots of detail provided except for the important definition.

Ah that'll be the 'senior member of a transgender health care provider' #nothankyou

Yes Mandy mentions rights for women as a sex and uses the word maternity, also a member of the anti fracking nanas all of which is hood enough for me

Having listened to tonight's hustings the only candidates to clearly state their understanding and support for women's sex-based rights were:
Co-chair (2 positions):
Emma Bateman
Tina Rothery

Secretary:
Julia Lagoutte and Alex Geddis

Treasurer:
Nicola Watson

Non Portfolio Officers (3 positions):
Mandy Vere
Lucy Watson and Nicole Haydock
Zoe Hatch and Moira Dunworth

In my view any vote for any of the other candidates will risk losing GPW completely to adherents of gender identity ideology.

I'm afraid she's fully signed up to gender identity ideology.

Nicola Watson only treasurer candidate to defend sex-based rights.

Based on track records, best bets for non-portfolio officers to defend sex-based rights: Mandy Vere Lucy Watson and Nicole Haydock Zoe Hatch and Moira Dunworth

Julia Lagoutte and Alex Geddis are both totally sound.

My experience of Emma Bateman and Tina Rothery is they are both champion feminists. The other candidates are adherents of gender identity theory.

I was listening in on the hustings too and this is who I'm voting for too. The first question was 'will you pledge to support womens sex based rights?' so the issue was set out clearly and early on. I made some notes on a spreadsheet on each candidates answer but unfortunately didn't save it as I'd worked out who I wanted to vote for and this was also my set of candidates.

Rec from women whom I trust:

We hope you will take part in the election and vote on the basis of your own priorities. For anyone unsure who defends the sex-based rights of women, those speaking effectively at last night's hustings on this issue were:

Co-chair (2 positions):
Emma Bateman
Tina Rothery
Secretary:
Julia Lagoutte and Alex Geddis
Treasurer:
Nicola Watson
Non Portfolio Officers (3 positions):
Mandy Vere
Lucy Watson and Nicole Haydock
Zoe Hatch and Moira Dunworth

ArabellaScott · 07/01/2022 09:17

Remember if you don't wish to vote for a candidate you can vote for RON (re open nominations)

EishetChayil · 07/01/2022 09:21

Mandy Vere - brilliant woman, and as gender critical as they come.

TheGreatATuin · 07/01/2022 09:42

I've just voted. Good luck to the candidates!

JulesJules · 07/01/2022 17:02
