"There will be some instances where we do use the term ‘women’. For example, if we’re referencing research that only included cis women, or did not distinguish on the basis of gender identity."

Why on earth could they not have said natal or biological women. Cis is not a word. Highly offensive.

We are now "Women+" according to Bodyform.

And funnily enough scientific studies that study menstruation will only study females. Coz like biology. Arrrghhhh

@outlyingtrout you'll never get an answer to that one. That particular poster is currently haunting a variety of different threads with very much the same comments across them all while accusing other posters of being 'single issue'.

@CorrBlimeyGG

Hundreds of thousands of women living in poverty in the UK, yet this is what you're bothered about.
Im a woman who would be classed as living in poverty. Yet I'm "bothered" by this issue. Guess I'll go back to trying to make my own reusables like I planned when Always fell.
Interrobanger · 28/12/2021 23:29

Fucks sake. I’ve only been using Bodyform since Always took the female symbol off their packaging.

What are the best period pants brands that know only women get periods and aren’t afraid to say it?

SirVixofVixHall · 29/12/2021 00:20

I have been using Bodyform since they first came out. They were the first towel I bought when I started my periods. A looooong time ago. So annoyed now.

ISpyCobraKai · 29/12/2021 00:26

I use reusables but occasionally grab a pack of disposables.
Absolutely not that brand now.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 29/12/2021 00:35

I accepted a while ago that mainstream brands didn't give a shit about women. I have been using reusable pads from ETSY and a cup ever since.

They can fuck off and get their profits from people who experience periods while women buy from women who recognise what it means to be female.

InexperiencedDogOwner · 29/12/2021 16:42

My lillets box says "designed by women, for women". However I think they've been discontinued now (plastic applicator type) so doubt they put this on their boxes anymore! I found it quite refreshing.

Spitspotsput · 02/01/2022 18:03

Think lilets still say that. I’ve never been an applicator-using woman. I think my body is shaped wrong for them and I end up in a lot of pain. As for mooncups thanks but no thanks

SusannaQueen · 02/01/2022 18:10

Oh bugger. I've been using Bodyform for 40yrs. Menstrual cups give me cystitis, and I can't afford to invest any more in them, I keep thinking my periods will stop, but no. Bodyform have always been so female centric, the animation they produced a couple of years ago was fabulous.
Cis, my arse.

SusannaQueen · 02/01/2022 18:16

Plastic applicator lilets are all DD will use at school (she uses a Mooncup at home), Bodycare and Savers still stock them, I think Boots have made a decision to stop stocking the plastic applicators.

MabelTheCow · 02/01/2022 18:43

So you object to the term cis? What term would you prefer they use or are you angry that they are being inclusive to people who do not identify as women even though they menstruate?

Waitwhat23 · 02/01/2022 19:08

Cis is a made up, nonsense term which is being imposed on women.

I have no issue with additional language I.e. women and those who menstruate or similar.

But removing the word woman is not inclusive to the many women who would not understand the word menstruator. It is excluding them.

Cuck00soup · 02/01/2022 19:18

I've never actually heard any transmen complain about menstrual products for women.

It's like the people who insist on seasons greetings instead of happy Christmas so that non Christians aren't offended. Meanwhile the non-Christians are perfectly happy with Christmas.

Stupid response.

Hundreds of thousands of women living in poverty and you spent money on a phone/computer and internet?!?! Hmm

VelvetChairGirl · 04/01/2022 17:35

well I only buy supermarket own brand anyway, saves money.

VelvetChairGirl · 04/01/2022 17:43

I would like to be called a woman because I am one, cis is a prefix forced upon me by an ideology I dont believe in, that is also condescending.

cis means across, and gender means born. so its literally calling women those born on the other side. no thank you.

Banned term on mumsnet, please stop using it.
Franca123 · 05/01/2022 00:31

Mooncup. Presumably they know what a woman is they designed a cup to put right up there. Plus they'll save you a not very small fortune.

Onelittlepiglet · 05/01/2022 06:21

@DobbyTheHouseElk

I use cheeky wipes reusables. Much better.
Unfortunately they are just as bad….
blessedbethechocolate · 05/01/2022 06:45

Oh ffs they are the only ones I don't have a reaction to. I can't use moon cups or other brands as they always leak. I suffer from flooding so wouldn't trust anything not to leak so usually double up.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 05/01/2022 06:54

I recommend Honour Your Flow reusables. Their night pads, in particular.

How can you advocate and fight for women in dire circumstances if we aren’t allowed to use the word “women”? It’s the very foundation of women’s rights.

If we have no language to define ourselves and use to campaign for change, we cannot improve the lives of women.

If women means men and women, there’s no such thing as women’s rights!

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/01/2022 07:18

Fgs. I switched to them for dd1 after always abandoned women.

There's only one sex that has periods. You menstruate with your body not your identity. If some transmen can do the most female thing on the planet and have a baby then we should be able to called women. After all it just means adult human female..its inclusive of all and no identities.

Cis is offensive. No one can identifies out of being thrown on the trash heap at birth. It's a first world privilege to even begin to think about this identity stuff.

I use reusables. Looks like we need another brand to switch to for dd though. One that recognises sex.
