Another doctor threatening “transphobes”

Following the Harrop tribunal, I can’t quite believe another doctor on social media is threatening members of the public under the claim they are “transphobes”.

She was so pleased with her comment (insinuating a “transphobe” should get into a bath with a toaster - killing themselves) that she screenshotted it from one social media platform, reposted it on another and added the comment “get it” to make sure people got her ‘clever’ insinuation.

@Lovelyricepudding

Expressing your political views (the NHS is under funded/poorly managed/doctors should be paid more/we should renationalise the power supply) is very different to joking about electicution.
Which is exactly why I said twice in my previous post that I am not defending what this doctor said.

If you want to disagree with me, at least disagree with the point I made, not the one that I explicitly said twice that I wasn't making.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow I was agreeing with you.

According to this study, it appears that the suicide rate is higher in trans people: about 3-4 times higher than in the general population. It says that the suicide rate has decreased over time for transwomen, which is good news, although for transmen it has remained about the same.

But they do mention some limitations of the study, for example "we did not have information about psychological comorbidities or other psychological information". And it's not clear how this elevated rate compared to the general population compares to any other marginalised groups.

One link that ha's been observed is autism. What percentage of these individuals are autistic? Autistic individuals have a higher risk of suicide.

But that is only very recent. When I was assessed and diagnosed with autism, there was no mention of being trans.

Autistic individuals have a higher risk of suicide.

I would like to know where this information comes from, as at least half of the people on the spectrum are not capable of this.

It seems to be a common opinion over repeated long term trials.

None of those are peer-reviewed journal articles. The Jamanet refers to an article that was also published in the same open source publication.

The second link is from the NAS, which is not a source of academic information.

The third referenced the same study as the first link - and also referenced the first link - and also did not provide a link to the original study, which was based on secondary sources.

So, there is one study in Denmark and one study in Sweden. The Swedish study also noted that individuals with ADHD are also more likely to attempt suicide.
