Gross acts of urine vandalism in Edinburgh

If you're on Twitter, take a look at GC Archives @archives_gc. She cites countless examples of men committing crimes in women's and public spaces.

It's hideous stuff and I couldn't watch the videos, but reading the text demonstrates what is going on. She's identified one of the perpetrators in Edinburgh and reported them to the polic

WTF have I just seen? Are the police not interested in tracking these people down themselves?

wavingwhilstdrowning · 29/11/2021 10:12

this might be what I saw happening at a cinema in Leeds a few years ago. 2 men pissing everywhere - quite deliberately. I walked in and one off them cocked his leg and farted whilst staring at me and grinning. I reported it and was told they were 'drunks' and would be removed. They were young 20-25 and very aggressive. They were mixed sex toilets.

Datun · 29/11/2021 12:16

Dear god, that truly is fucked up. And it doesn't appear to be limited to Scotland. Is it a craze?

Pissing into soap dispensers, spitting on door handles and ejaculating on clothes.

Presumably you can get DNA from some of that, can't you?

This is the sort of crime that needs an overwhelmingly heavy sentence as a deterrent.

Dunging has a history of territorialism so it's not that surprising that a similar practice might escape into more mainstream manifestations.

Sheila Jeffreys discussed public lavatories and Sheila Cavanagh's work on dung smearing as a way of establishing territorial dominance over a space and making it unsuitable/undesirable to women.

[Cavanagh] says that men like to spread faeces about in the toilets to mark their territory in a way that women do not, ‘There is a none too subtle correlation between heteronormative masculinities and the territorialisation of public facilities through the spread of dung’ (Cavanagh, 2010: 163). Men, it seems, like to spread their ‘dung’ on the walls and doors of public lavatories.... Sheila Jeffreys: Cavanagh discussion about public lavatories and gender

This is clearly a public health hazard. Surely he can be identified quite easily and prosecuted?

ScreamingMeMe · 29/11/2021 12:58

What a sick bastard. I hope he gets caught.

All of it.

ArabellaScott · 29/11/2021 13:05

Has someone reported to police?

ArabellaScott · 29/11/2021 13:06
  • and presuming it's been archived for evidence?
Soubriquet · 29/11/2021 13:07

What the fuck is wrong with people?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/11/2021 13:08

Surely Twitter is part of the problem here?
Looks like he’s using Twitter to get an audience who egg him on and Twitter are cool with that?
They really are misogynist arseholes.

They are facilitating a crime. Surely they need to give up this awful man's contact details, and also delete everything he and his followers post.
Abhannmor · 29/11/2021 13:53

With all due respect to Jeffries I think people only spread faeces on a lavatory wall when the paper runs out. Sociopaths excepted.

It's worth a look at the book she cites: Queering Bathrooms: Gender, Sexuality, and the Hygienic Imagination by Sheila L. Cavanagh

Maybe, but there seem to be more sociopaths about than one would expect.
Greenmarmalade · 29/11/2021 14:26

I may have to just forget I’ve ever read this.
Dunging!
Dung should never be a verb.

ArabellaScott · 29/11/2021 14:30

It can be a verb if it is closely followed by 'imprisoning' and 'prosecuting'.

Whatthechicken · 29/11/2021 14:31

Well that sent me down a rabbit hole that I wished I’d never entered! The urine stuff was bad enough, but some of the other stuff GC Archives is gathering is really, really disturbing. They must be extremely dedicated to exposing this stuff, I couldn’t do it. What a world our kids are growing into!

SoItWas · 29/11/2021 14:32

I'm a cleaner (hospitality), it doesn't happen very often, but a few times, in the mens toilets, someone has shit all over the cistern, instead of in the bowl, and I've wondered before is there something more going on there psychologically, than just being drunk.

My ex used to piss in weird places when he was drunk. The first time we broke up, it was because he'd gone into baby ds's room one night, and pissed all over the floor, right under his cot. I used to wonder if it was a territorial thing (and if he was unconsciously jealous of the baby).

Animals 🤢

EsmaCannonball · 29/11/2021 14:45

I've never understood how those women who think any woman who objects to mixed-sex toilets is uptight and old-fashioned and just an old meanie don't consider how those men and boys who harass women on the street and on public transport et cetera are going to behave in an environment where there is both minimum opportunity of being observed and maximum opportunity to get their thrills. I really don't get it.

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/11/2021 14:49

Omg thats disgusting

Mybalconyiscracking · 29/11/2021 14:56

If I was a transwoman and I genuinely identified with women who had been female since birth, then surely I would understand what the problem was with being concerned about sharing private spaces with human beings with full male genitalia. Maybe I might be unselfish enough to realise that I might have to curb my activities a little, in order to support other women and let them feel comfortable. If I had a genuine female take on the world then I would understand the issue!

gailforce1 · 29/11/2021 15:02

This is why we castrate adult male animals who are not wanted for breeding purposes!
(Just saying...)

Livelifeinthebuslane · 29/11/2021 15:27

I had an ex who used to piss in my sink instead of my toilet when they were right next to each other. He was abusive in many other worse ways too. I look back now and wonder how the hell I put up with it for as long as I did, it's just so bizarre though.

lanadelgrey · 29/11/2021 15:35

At work - very nice, very liberal arts/media type place there is a phantom shitter in the men’s apparently.
And when I was reduced to expressing in the loos about 20 years ago, office had men’s next to women’s and on more than one occasion I heard groans and grunts of someone wanking next door. That was quite a small office 🤮
