Thanks Screaming. I will be there.

I haven't been listening to them long so enjoyed the recent episode looking back at how they started up. Both left-leaning, Remain voters increasingly disillusioned with the divisions being created from 'their side'. Looking forward to hearing them speak to Prof Stock.

Grumpyosaurus · 20/11/2021 16:46

Triggernometry is just such a brilliant name for the show.

Will watch that.

Scraggythang · 20/11/2021 16:46

Yessssss! I love their show. Recommended it to many. So many interesting and important perspectives!

nauticant · 20/11/2021 16:56

I don't think the interview with Kathleen Stock is on tonight. It's on tomorrow (Sunday) night.

I think TRAs made a tactical error in pressuring Sussex to sack Kathleen to the extent that she felt she had to resign. Now she is free to say hat she wants and on what program she wants. Oops

nauticant · 20/11/2021 17:12

This is funny, although maybe that just shows I'm a bad person:

Anyone tuning in tonight is going to get blokey bants. You might find you're not the target audience, but then again you might enjoy it.

She quit to make more money, did she eh?

They'll say anything to avoid facing reality.

ScreamingMeMe · 20/11/2021 19:05

Yes I'm sorry I got the day wrong! It's Sunday.

(In my defence I've been ill with a terrible stomach bug.)

Makes me laugh that "We tried to cancel someone but it didn't work" is somehow evidence that "Cancel culture doesn't exist."

For anyone new to triggernometry, listened to the one about Putin's Russia from a couple of months back. It's brilliant, in a total insane way.

I will be listening to tonight's Kathleen stock interview. I was wondering today when they would get her or Helen joyce on.

teezletangler · 20/11/2021 19:20

Oh I'm looking forward to this. I was hoping they'd get Helen Joyce on but this is equally brilliant. Don't always agree with the guys or their guests (they are very blokey for lack of a better word and KK especially seems to have one hell of an ego), but this should be good. I did enjoy the recent episode about the origins of the show- I didn't realise what a hard slog it's been for them until very recently.

BettyFilous · 20/11/2021 19:31

I listened to their origins story show too. I thought they over-egged it a tad about how hard it was going to work on a few hours’ sleep - pretty much 24/7 normal for a lot of full-time WOH parents after having a baby/with small children AND it’s about 6 years before you get a decent lie-in. (Yes I’m bitter.) That aside, I salute their sticking power when things weren’t easy and they deserve their success.

I look forwards to hearing their interview with Kathleen.

KK's wife is pregnant, so he'll be finding out soon enough Smile

Really looking forward to this

Their show does have a bit of a 90s throwback vibe. But one thing that I quite like about them is that they are prepared to change their position and be open about it. They admitted to have been influenced by Posie P and they had obviously shifted stance the second time they interviewed her.

rabbitwoman · 21/11/2021 16:10

I love triggernometry, but I highly recommend the episode where they interviewed Dr Ella Hill , a Rotherham grooming gang survivor, from July 2020.

It was so powerful. An absolutely amazing interview, I found it gruelling to get through but they somehow managed to inject some humour into it. And such an eye opener about cancel culture and how awful it is to try to tell your story in this current climate.

nauticant · 21/11/2021 18:52

The video is now showing on their page prior to broadcast:

Kathleen Stock - Hounded Out for Trans Views

They get 1 Internet point for avoiding the lazy mistake most media make when they tend to characterise this position as "anti-Trans".

ArabellaScott · 21/11/2021 19:02

Ta, about to start. Watching now!

nauticant · 21/11/2021 19:22

She is remarkably restrained in her language, you get the impression she carefully constructs her sentences before they leave her mouth.

Every now and then she looks traumatised.

ArabellaScott · 21/11/2021 19:38

I think the same, nauticant. I hope she has access to good professional support.

nauticant · 21/11/2021 20:37

One high point for me was to see Kathleen Stock push back on the notion of there being an absolute truth of which KK is a fan. During this exchange, some those commenting in the chat box lost their minds. It amused me to think that here, as well, she had committed a form of heresy. Movements based on politics and beliefs can eaily take on trappings of religion.

bentleyd · 21/11/2021 20:53

I haven't watched yet but definitely will.

It was this board plus this show which really educated me about these issues and I have enjoyed a lot of episodes.

However, in the last one, the part 2 of the discussion of the show, KK went on a rant about the cost of living (fair enough) but then basically implied that women would prefer to be at home with babies than out at work and was quite scathing about women using nurseries. So that did make me a bit 🤔 as I have always admired him.

ArabellaScott · 21/11/2021 20:57

Yes indeed, nauticant. And made a good point about KK's use of the word 'sacred' being quasi religious.

Thanks, KS, for being so level headed and thoughtful. I am in awe, as ever.

I find the Triggernometry interviews variable. But overall, often worth watching. And there's fewer and fewer places where people can actually disagree and keep talking, so more power to them.

worthyofsupport · 21/11/2021 21:24

Lovely interview. They agreed with her and said so.What a dignified lady.
