Unless they refused to acknowledge IWD then I don’t understand the issue. They’ve got some decent sessions planned at least and not just two days of NAMALT

EndoplasmicReticulum · 02/11/2021 18:58

No problems with them celebrating IMD. I wonder though if they are allowed to actually use the word men?
Silly question I know.

MoveAhoy · 02/11/2021 18:59

It's a good thing, no?

Unless IWD didn't happen or had to be centered around others?

If so, you can show the absence/template for IWD to them and so prove the discrepancy?

Theunamedcat · 02/11/2021 19:00

Do men exist? Women don't seem to

lifeissweet · 02/11/2021 19:01

I wonder if they will be allowed to promote this and celebrate it without being jumped on for excluding Trans men (as happens to women about trans women on IWD)?

I am going to predict that they will.

334bu · 02/11/2021 19:02

I see only_"men "and not "prostate havers" mentioned in their Prostate Awareness section

userg5647 · 02/11/2021 19:04

To be fair they're tying it up with getting men talking something we all need men to do, it's not a day of saying men are awesome for the sake of it.

Hoardasurass · 02/11/2021 19:07
Hmm
Floisme · 02/11/2021 19:13

Anything that encourages mxn to talk is a good thing in my book.

foxgoosefinch · 02/11/2021 19:36

Every day is international men’s day Confused

KittenKong · 02/11/2021 19:40

Who is going to tell them that not all men etc etc etc and how the word man is completely offensive and undexclusive?

Cagedbirdsinging · 02/11/2021 20:03

@BrandineDelRoy 'he he Smile'
Hee hee Grin

Flammkuchen · 02/11/2021 20:13

I don’t see a problem with this as long as it is applied fairly.

When it was International Women’s Day, organisations could earn extra Stonewall points for have a transwoman speak. My workplace duly had a talk from a transwoman who boasted about influencing the census.

I wonder if the same Stonewall criteria apply for transmen?

AssassinatedBeauty · 02/11/2021 20:21

I thought the list of workshops looked alright until I got to the one about Parental Alienation...

Cocopogo · 02/11/2021 20:25

Allyship? What the actual fuck

Theunamedcat · 02/11/2021 20:54

Ahhh the good egg people total support of all things predatory accused me of alienating my children from their father apparently the fact that he himself chooses not to see them unless it suits him is my fault........I.should ya know force him or something maybe?

NiceGerbil · 03/11/2021 04:06

Ís IMD celebrated all over the world?

In general though the sessions looked good until things that... Are MRA topics. That's s bit of s worry.

DV
Parental alienation
And allies? Bit confused about that

The other stuff all looks good though.

I do wonder what the take up will be.

EishetChayil · 03/11/2021 07:44

But what is a man?

Warmduscher · 03/11/2021 07:47

Quite.
Dyrne · 03/11/2021 07:56

I don’t see an issue with this - apart from what’s already been raised (no mention of transmen etc).

They’re not bursting into a women focused event and going “what about the men?”; it’s a completely separate event. And these issues are important to discuss and get men talking about them.

(Though I am side-eyeing a couple of the subjects as they could slip quickly down the MRA rabbit hole if not careful).

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 03/11/2021 07:59

I think all but none of those topics look great, and will not only benefit the men but also the families and groups they are part of. If they were celebrating it by getting trashed at the footie I might raise an eyebrow: but mental health and baby loss etc are really fantastic topics. I could imagine my DH and my DSs going to those sessions and really valuing them.

Parental Alienation on the other hand?????

‘Mxn’ 🤣

I don’t understand though OP, isn’t a good thing. Lots of men suffer with mental health problems, it’s good for them to talk.

Do we have to hate men now? Is it that we have to bring them down in order to bring ourselves up? Hmm I’m a bit Confused

EyesOpening · 03/11/2021 08:23

“Do we have to hate men now?” I think you mean one out of every two people, no?
