@EyesOpening

“Do we have to hate men now?” I think you mean one out of every two people, no?
Sorry I don’t think I’m awake yet, I don’t get it. Do you mean does 1 in every 2 people have to hate men?

From what I've seen on social media so far, it's going to be International Men's MONTH, with women already posting about the wonderful men in their lives and encouraging others to do likewise. Nothing so far about the themes of IMD this year, I had to go looking for those. I won't join in with the social media stuff. It would create unreasonable expectations of public adulation just for not being a jerk.

I think the mental health and suicide stuff sounds good.

Perhaps it's a useful yardstick to have, to be able to push back and say 'actually no, on mens day, nobody refers to prostate havers or mxn, so men and women are accepted terms to use'.

I don't see the need for women to join in, any more than I'd expect men to join in International Women's Day. I do think men fact a lot of issues and I certainly don't begrudge them this day and I hope it goes well. But it's for them to sort it out (and themselves), not us.

No, I’m alluding to “pregnant people”, “people with vaginas”, “people who menstruate” etc. So instead of “hate men” “hate one out of every two people”.

^ That was in response to the comment about women posting on social media.

I am also going to actively model the respect I want people to show women’s issues and women’s spaces, so wouldn’t ask for the removal of words like men, or demand that transmen be centred. But I would imagine some might…
