I’ve come really late to this issue as it had absolutely no impact on my life. When all the JKR thing happened I was vaguely curious as to what outrageous thing she could have said as I thought she was a nice, non-controversial famous person. I read some of the coverage and was still perplexed. Read what she had said and thought “Of course. Where’s the controversy?”.

I have now read some pro-trans musings on Twitter etc and I am disgusted at the level of misogynistic bile that is produced. I don’t understand how you can show such hatred toward a group you want to identify as.

And as for the seemingly impossiblity of answering really simple questions like “is it wrong to say only women have cervix?”, this is never going to be a mature and reasoned debate.

The TR lobby groups are bullying legislative change because they are shutting down discussion by shouting “TRANSPHOBE” the second someone mentions that maybe women’s rights are being eroded or that we still need to have non-penis areas. If I were a politician I would be worried about saying anything other than Be Kind or TWAW or by being bombarded by messages telling me suck lady cock.

The discussion also seems to ignore TM which is just ridiculous.

I have no answers.

I think this is the great. It puts squarely in people's minds exactly who is being referred to. No confusion about the public thinking transwomen are females who are trans. Biological men who claim to have a gender identity. Gender isn't sex, so they have zero need or right to access female only spaces, sports, prisons etc.
