Men voicing their gender ideology concerns on Twitter tonight

Over on Twitter, @WomenReadWomen has asked a simple question - and crucially she's asked it of

'men who disagree with gender ideology ...

what is your main concern?'

And men's replies; polite, reasonable, thoughtful; are coming in their several hundreds so far.

Please share with the chaps in your life and ask them to join these men who are speaking up.

Oddly enough there don't seem to be many bellowing accusations of terfery and transphobia in the comments below their responses.

Wow. How wonderful to see so many men defending women and girls. Truly refreshing to see that so many care and also worry for our single sex spaces. Maybe I spend too much time on TikTok reading the vitriol young men write.

Harm to women comes up and children too but it's not the number one for many.

I wonder if it's time to start focusing on more stands then the impact on women and girls. That's massive obv but often seen as 'women's issues' and many men tune out. Putting some focus on additional areas which might engage more of an audience might be productive? I mean lots of people don't care much about women anyway sadly. I mean bad things happen to us all the time anyway it's in the news all the time. Nothing changes what can be done.

Yes.

I've said this a few times here, gender ideology is only one element of a wider, very problematic social movement that includes all kinds of authoritarian tendencies, denials of reality, bad argumentation.

Lots of people are drawn in because they see what is happening in some area that touches their lives. Academic freedom, democratic representation, etc.

Not only will highlighting these things appeal to a wider group of people, gender ideology is not just about some sort of misogyny, it's about a whole set of beliefs. As long as people think that way, it will always have a foothold.

For women the issues are obvious and anger is growing.

The most pressing current issue is the impact of women and girls.

However not everyone really gives a toss about us so yes. Other things are involved that COULD lead to other issues for sure.

Yes, that's what dragged me in. Mainly the bullying and coercion. I hate bullying and coercion. Only after that did I get the safeguarding and women's rights issues. Starting with JKR's essay and my son's surprisingly thoughtless, uncritical reaction to it, which led me here, and from here to a myriad other links and books.

This news is encouraging. My main concern is the harm to children and women. But the other wrongs are important too, and if they provoke more men to oppose the ideology, it all helps wake people up.

It's hard to know whether it's because this is my priority so I look for it, but I'm always heartened to see so many men identify risks to children. With an ideology that has deliberately recruited so many children, it's good to see men identifying the safeguarding risks to children - although I suspect these might be primarily fathers.

It's disheartening to see that men can have a view which is not questioned, on why there are issues, and yet women- the very group that is most affected, can not without fear of being attacked online, hunted down and abused.

Yes, NiceGerbil, this has been an educating read (see? I am educating myself!). If I get to talk to men about this , I will now concentrate more on the 'denial of reality', and damage to children. And the lies/free speech.
I don't care what levers we have to pull to win this war.

And yes, SD1978, men don't get the abuse. They probably don't even notice, they probably think that it's their clear, incisive comments that make all the difference. Not like the pink wooly tweets of us wimmin.

That was a very encouraging read. I’m delighted that men in general are not buying into the ideology, because in our sexist society, their voices will be respectfully listened to.

Agreed.

The Deptford Project showed that in very clear terms. How unaccountable that their perspective has been ignored or classed as ignorant and in need of re-education.

It was the Deptford Project which was my eye opener into what was happening with identity politics, I have a working class background, and I couldn’t believe what was going on there, the absolute ego and narrow-mindedness of the Goldsmith students.

That in turn lead me down the rabbit hole of gender politics, and as someone who (at that time) worked with vulnerable families and it left me so frustrated and angry that the idiots responsible for allowing men into women’s spaces never even considered how it would impact women who need single sex services, which is most often the most vulnerable women.

People talking about the Deptford Project - do you have a link to it? I googled and just got architecture stuff .
Was it the working class women's group that was that was infiltrated by overprivileged males, who turned the focus to everything trans?
