I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Thanks Older

Autumn I think taking the knee for TR would be fabulous awareness raising for the general public

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 13/07/2021 08:10

It's a pity that time travel isn't available, or Wokescold could be sent on an all expenses paid trip to South Africa, c. 1975. Racism red in tooth and claw.

Or a week in present-day Iran might provide pause for thought re women's rights.

highame · 13/07/2021 08:22

Glad to see a rather offensive thread was deleted. First time I've ever reported.

I have brought along an Oryx to keep the camel company??? (This is a diversion tactic to disguise TAAT)

AnyOldPrion · 13/07/2021 08:28

Pizza 🍕 on Friday night?

I’m in!

Will the Bluestocking decamp to Italy for the evening?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 13/07/2021 08:37

Will the Bluestocking decamp to Italy for the evening?

If somebody can fire up the portal, I'm game.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/07/2021 15:22

DH is going to make pizza this evening - he's mastered the art of really nice thin and crispy wholemeal. Freshly graduated DD is back home for a while so the fatted calf has been slaughtered and delivered by Waitrose by the look of the fridge (he's retired so shopping is his responsibility. I help him put it away, I'm good that way.Halo)

No wokescolding from her, though I'm curious to know what her views are on various issues nowadays.

AutumnCrocus · 13/07/2021 16:29

Mmm pizza. Yes please!

Curiously, the Rainbow Dildo Monkey Butt issue has caused outrage from wokescold DD. Even she thinks it's not ok to have that around children at a storytelling session!

mollythemeerkat · 13/07/2021 18:02

Stirring thoughts going to all people having to discuss these issues with wokey DCs. Is there still room under the blanket with the camel and older badger if things go badly? Can we sing a feminist anthem or something?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 13/07/2021 18:24

Pizzas need capers and anchovies.

Well done with Wokescold, Autumn. It might be possible for her to think equally rationally about something else and gradually shift to a position of sanity.

dyslek · 13/07/2021 18:35

I dont know if my relationship with my DD will ever be the same.
Our mother / daughter relationship turning in to a friendship was something I looked forward to.
We hardly speak now.
This 'movement' is quite evil to be sure.

mollythemeerkat · 13/07/2021 18:53

Thats a bit rubbish dyslek - maybe she just needs some growing up time? -This stuff just seems to have driven lots of peoples kids crazy. Hope things get better for you both. And have a glass of cider on me.

ArtemesiaK · 13/07/2021 18:58

I'm quite new to the area and love the Bluestocking, I've found you all so welcoming and supportive. Very confused by the camel and badger talk, though! Good luck to the strugglers with the woke. GD (don't know if that's right for granddaughter!) seems to be concentrating more on BLM than gender on Insta at present, hope the gender thing is a phase that's passing (especially as her Mum is one of us). Just enjoying a glass of chilled white, cheers!

AutumnCrocus · 13/07/2021 21:13

Tbh i don't feel my relationship with wokescold DD will ever recover.
She's been so horrible , for so long.
I really hoped when she grew up, we'd finally have a reasonable adult relationship.
But she's mid twenties, and no, still horrible to me

Keepemguessing · 13/07/2021 21:32

Hello all. How are things?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 13/07/2021 21:36

Proffering large Gin for dyslek and AutumCrocus
As a parent of an adult DD there have been moments when I despaired. There can be quite a tension between some mothers and daughters and it was chastening to see some of my past attitudes towards my own mother replicated by my own DD to me Blush (that helped a lot when I realised that).
As she's matured and I've chosen my battles more wisely, we've managed to regain a good relationship to the extent of the occasional holiday together - we occasionally carefully discuss these issues and normally agree.
Huge sympathies - it's so hard.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/07/2021 23:06

@Olderbadger1

Curry and cider is a bloody glorious combination. Thanks Susan.

I said THANKS SUSAN.

I SAID THANKS SUSAN

Get more sense out of the camel. But less curry I suppose.

I see we have met in RL then. Blush Grin
BlackeyedSusan · 13/07/2021 23:10

Dd is currently one of us she's been reading Mumsnet since she started to read by sounding out c*nt in a title aged three. The asterisk has no effect on the phonics. Well I say since then, the screen was locked sharpish when she was around and then also when ds was around when he discovered how to post on Mumsnet. His favourite comment was 12345678910

BlackeyedSusan · 13/07/2021 23:11

Ds is not one of us. Rather too much influence from ex unfortunately.

theThreeofWeevils · 13/07/2021 23:48

Get more sense out of the camel. But less curry
I imagine one could get quite a lot of curry out of a camel, actually. Woe betide anyone who tries, mind. Ours is a Friend camel, not an eating camel.
Gin to all those blessed afflicted with tiresome offspring. And to the thirsty. And...
Oh, just Gin all round.

AutumnCrocus · 14/07/2021 01:20

Wine, please. All the wine!

highame · 14/07/2021 08:08

Take heart wimms. Every so often a generation of young uns pushes harder than the few previous ones. In fact to find an equivalence in aggression towards oldies/establishment, I think you have to go back to the mid 60's. We all grew up and although 'My Generation' still rings in my ears now and again, most of us re-established our relationships, even horrendous revolutionaries like me (and plenty of you). Don't forget, yer gals will need you, at some point, even though it will stick in their craw for a while.

Enjoy the peace, the hateful bastards will be back wanting mum comfort before too long Grin

Keepemguessing · 14/07/2021 08:39

My DN despairs of me because I don't believe that she is actually a man, despite hormones and a double mastectomy. And I won't even pretend, beyond using her new name.

midgemagneto · 14/07/2021 17:20

I have changed my mind
I think I could be capable of violence

I am pretty sure I would stick my tongue out , stick my fingers in my ears and yell
"Who's a silly bully"

Was trying to write silly billy ...,

Turned · 14/07/2021 19:14

Popping in with Flowers for autumncrocus, keepemguessing, dyslek and anyone else who would like some.

My Jess patches arrived today. They are gorgeous. I shall be in the beer garden with lager, crisps and the camel.

theThreeofWeevils · 14/07/2021 19:19

Turned, whatever you do, keep those fabulous patches out of grazing reach of the camel. Get extra crisps for distraction purposes, perhaps.
