Well done to everyone who helped with the FOIs. Fantastic work, and an impressive article from the Telegraph. It's well worth reading it all. When it's all laid out like that, it's really eye opening.

Undemocratic, corrupt overreach. What a scandal. If you've ever wondered how an extremely niche ideology like the gender identity stuff spread like wildfire among public and private institutions, this is how it's done.

What makes me laugh is I think the Tories have been desperate to get rid of FOIs but this cluster fuck shows exactly why it's needed. 😁

Some of the comments on the Mail article reassure me I'm not aligned with the Fundamentalist Christian Right but this is what happens when SW pushes too far against moderate people. They no longer have the buffer of us between them and the conservative majority.

I think those shouting loudest genuinely believe that they are women and entitled to all the 'privilege' we have including periods, needing domestic violence shelters and wearing impractical clothes and shoes. Clearly it's not a mental illness but I can only assume that they're fighting so hard for it due to the psychological attachment to the idea. Anything less is an existential threat.

The Mail piece mentions Dawn Butler's poll Grin

Good article on this by Brendan O’Neill in the Spectator:

@FindTheTruth

"Gender fluid employees should be given “multiple passcards with different forms of gender expression” so they can be a different gender each day, Stonewall states. Applicants could “choose a gender marker other than male or female” or even “remove gender markers and titles from your systems altogether”

How much taxpayer money has this cost? not just the time filling in the forms but the security passes and systems to deliver something like this especially in security / defence is a huge undertaking. and for what? Jus tlike choosing what clothes to wear in the morning. In gender fluid world one chooses what identity to have before leaving for work and what pass to pick up on the way out the door. Everyone has masculine and feminine traits/interests and trying to turn that into a rigid daily identity sounds exhausting.

Can you imagine discovering the likes of Pips Bunce in his fishnets in the loo at Credit Suisse? Absolutely bonkers!

@PearPickingPorky

Pleased to see that the Telegraph, Times, DM and Spectator are keeping shining a light on this. Even the BBC had it on the Radio 4 news this morning.

I wonder when the Guardian will acknowledge that it's happening? Crickets.

DH said he heard it on LBC this morning too ☀️ ☀️

Very good article, thanks for posting.

exwhyzed · 04/06/2021 22:10

Sarah Ditum was on LBC about it this morning,

It wasn't given much airtime, Nick Ferrari basically went 'pfft' what new nonsense is this (Sarah explains well). Nick Ferrari Pfft... ludicrous, mothers are mothers obviously and all normal people agree.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 04/06/2021 22:25

the Welsh government removed 'mother' from its Maternity policy, even though 'father' still remains

jeez

it really is a cover for hatred of women innit?

Nails it.

"Nursing" your baby is a very, very old fashioned term. My mum still uses it instead of breastfeeding and it drives me mad.

"Nursing" is commonly used as a euphemism for breast feeding in the US. I remember being confused as a kid while reading "Alice in Wonderland" when Alice is said to be nursing the duchess's pig baby. My childhood mind when straight to breastfeeding. Later I found out it was a old generic term for feeding.

BoreOfWhabylon · 05/06/2021 04:36

@Datun

Omg the comments under that Daily Mail article are superb. A real salve.

Those are some really angry women.

The DM and MOS have been doing sterling work on the subject right back to Man Friday days.

They are really ramping it up recently though and getting a huge number of comments, often very well-informed.

They also covered the first gender-fluid police officer in 2017

I have family in the south west who say nursing to mean holding and cuddling anyone or anything in your lap. Therefore they often comment that I'm nursing that dog again.....

Something in the Guardian today...
(Haven’t read it yet, only just spotted it)

GiantKitten · 05/06/2021 12:15

Read it now. It’s very much on the one hand/on the other hand and ignores the Telegraph revelations altogether Hmm

Still being attacked for it on Twitter. Eg:

The @Guardian is promoting the idea that #LGBT equality is "toxic" & attacking @StonewallUK for standing up for #LGBTQIA equality.

In #Pride month.

Happy #LGBTPride2021, everyone. #StonewallWasARiot

And I wonder why Peter Tatchell was given so much of a voice in it.

RickiTarr · 05/06/2021 13:00

Re that Guardian piece, isn’t the phrase “the right side of history” now the most enormous tell?

Anyone wanting to express the same thing without manipulating the audience, just talks in terms of something being “right” or “the right thing to do”.

You only invoke the spectre of historical judgement if you’re trying to scare and browbeat people into cooperating.

Peach01 · 05/06/2021 13:48

Are they allowing "father" or is it just women who are being erased?

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/06/2021 02:20

Sarah Vine in the MoS weighing in now

Vitally, this is not just an argument about semantics. It is the single most important battle feminism has faced since the hunger-striking Suffragettes had feeding tubes shoved down their throats.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, people of all genders and none, you have left us with no choice. This is war.

It's not often I find myself in agreement with SV

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 06/06/2021 05:14

It's not often I find myself in agreement with SV

The next few lines in her piece and perspectives were reassuringly disagreeable.

I could do without the war metaphors, tbh. SV is in no danger of being harmed, meanwhile there is an uptick in the public health problem of VAWG.

Organisations leaving SW's commercial scheme is no indication at all that they will start addressing the deficits in women's human rights. We had ample evidence of how very willing our friends, family, society, countries and international bodies are to take them away from us on a whim.

We need principled reasoning to underpin changes and evidence of due diligence. We don't need signals that people/organisations got bored with what someone on a thread has termed 'paperchase prepandemic' and is ready to move on to the next thing. We need meaningful reform and scrutiny of every policy and piece of legislation.

merrymouse · 06/06/2021 08:06

I think SV has got the wrong end of the stick on this.

I am sure that Stonewall are happy for anyone to call themselves a mother.

What they object to is the idea that being a mother might have any material reality beyond an identity that can be chosen or cast off.

Adoption UK have told Stonewall to 'get your Workplace Equality Index right for everyone.'

@stonewalluk
your laudable drive for workplace equality has a major downside for thousands of women who didn't give birth but are mothers by adoption, many of whom are LGBTQ+. Let’s get your Workplace Equality Index right for everyone.

SirSamuelVimes · 06/06/2021 16:04

Ooh, nice work from adoption UK.
