Excellent questions being asked of Humza on twitter.

I believe he’s blocking women rather than answering.

Do any of our Muslim members know the answer to the question in the photo as Humza hasn’t answered it.

Although I find the current state of affairs for women in Scotland deeply depressing on a political level, I am heartened by the amounts of grassroots feminism which is going on. Ribboning the suffragette colours, slates and stickers being left with political messages, shoes to show women voters walking away from parties who don't support them, campaigns like 'women won't wheesht', 'women are watching' and 'if you don't respect my sex, don't expect my x', and of course the brilliant work of organisations like For Women Scotland. Women are angry and will have their say on election day.

I really hope that you are right and that we women in Scotland can have our say on Election Day. But it’s not easy. All the mainstream parties have thrown women under the bus. As you say, the only mainstream party standing up for women is Alba, led by Salmond, and the irony of that is extraordinary. However if you support independence and women’s rights then a vote for Alba on the list vote is the best thing you can do. On the constituency vote it gets much trickier. The Greens are even more pro-trans and anti-women than the SNP and that’s saying something. Labour and Lib Dems not much better. Conservatives if you can trust them seem to be a bit more inclined towards at least allowing freedom of speech. But I can’t bring myself to vote Tory. As stated above, it’s a shit show for women’s rights in Scotland now, and that ultimately is the fault of the SNP - who I used to vote for.
I am currently contemplating the best way to spoil my constituency ballot paper in such a way as to get the message through to SNP HQ as to why they've lost my vote. And I will vote Alba on the list.
Apologies for the rant to English voters who aren’t involved in the SNP shit show.

All of this is beyond the realm of protest votes etc etc

None of the parties in Scotland or England/ Wales are prepared to stand up for women at all.

Not to exclude NI but I don't know where they're at on this and there is an awful lot going on over there right now.

Anyway.

This is not a party political issue. It's a genuine women's issue. All women. And despite what's said, the vast majority of men and women are not on board with it at even a fairly mild level let alone prisons etc.

Men aren't going to speak out that much is clear I think.

No there's no one to vote for. This is a topic that lies outside the (broken) 'democratic' party political realm.

Women will start to put their political affiliations aside and get together on this.

That's what all the parties are missing. They rely on women being docile, reliable.

I think they're going to be in for a shock tbh.

All the politicians. Who have said. TWAW no debate. Refused to answer simple questions. Run away when asked about prisons. Framed women with concerns as bigots. Turned away when women who were party loyal activists for years were expelled. Said that 50% men 50% transwomen is a great result for women's representation.

All of them. None of them believe it but all have parroted this rubbish.

Women are going to say no. En masse. All of this is simply not acceptable. Taking our words, definitions. Reducing us to our reproductive body parts. Putting sex offenders who for some reason are bigger and stronger and 100% more capable of rape in prison with us. Saying it's fine for sport to be mixed and if women/ girls get hurt or give it up or lose its because they're not trying hard enough...

All of it. Women are increasingly becoming aware and are getting pretty pissed off.

Forget politics and look elsewhere for groups who support women. None of the parties give a shit (and the ones who say they do- London elections- ukip etc? Care about women? Har fucking har).

I fancy a big angry demo in London when covid allows. Let's make some noise.

Jacopo I don't know where this idea came that they read and somehow consume the messages on spoiled ballots.

If you want them to know then email them. Tell them what you think.

I don't envy you the choices in Scotland tbh. Watching Alex s essentially going all out to ruin the party he brought to power, because ego. Is incredible. Says a lot about him as a person.

Anyway. Yeah no good choices anywhere are there. Vote for who you want to vote for, this issue aside. Not voting is.. a kind of depressing protest, disenfranchising yourself.

Email and say why you didn't vote X. At least that will be read.

Prepare for the mass protests in... October? When covid has calmed down and the schools are back Grin

Great posts Nicegerbil and I agree with everything you’ve said, my main reason for contemplating a spoiled vote is that I’m in a marginal SNP seat (although others seem to be getting more marginal by the day) so I want to put something on it that makes them have to read it and argue that it’s a vote for them.
I hope you’re right that mass demonstrations would work but I won’t hold my breath. Brexit etc.
